A short video explaining how I used a Pro Taper bar pad on the stock Yamaha handlebars and steering column on my 2020 GP1800R SVHO. I also did some other custom modifications with tools you probable already have in your garage to clean up the look of the bars. I did this because I really couldn't justify the $700 price tag of the Riva kit for something I was mainly interested in cosmetically. Total pricetag was $28 in parts, not including the spray paint I already had, and maybe an hour of my time.
Pro Taper bar pad link (Any other brand or knockoff will work fine, 8 inches is the correct size):

7/8" Motorcycle Cross Bar (any 7/8" adjustable crossbar will work, other colors are available):

Impact Screwdriver I used (figured a lot of people don't have one):

The paint I used (bought at Autozone):

Came out great, looking to do the same to my fx. $700+ on the Riva kit is crazy. Rather spend it on go fast parts.

Looks great!! I literally just purchased all the parts! Have you thought about anything to do on the hole? I was thinking a black acrylic sheet cut to that size but im not sure how to attach it

@carlosalarcon5175 the riva kit is an aluminum plate snap tabs on the back kinda like a hub cap. I was planning on going to the hardware store and trying to build something, i just never got around to it yet. Ive been riding it as is with no issues it doesnt really bother me. I get plenty of compliments out on the water, no one has said anything about the hole.

How did u get ur odi grips on is there a certain diameter bc mine have always been to big so I usally put take on the bar and put them on

ODI makes a set of end caps that bolt into the end of the factory bars, then the grips clamp nicely to them. They are standard 7/8" bars so make sure you got the 7/8" size grips and not 1." If theyre still looses you may just need to glue them or put a shim under them (like a sliver of a coke can)
