In My Opinion It's One Of The Best Song's & Video's Of All Time, It's Fiesty & I Love The Car Scene. Taken From The 1987 Album 'Slave to The Rhythm'. Never Stop The Action!!!
Grace Jones influenced a lot of women we see today...Rihanna...Gaga..Shakira...the list goes on. She was iconic when I was a teen back in the 80's and still today in 2010 we can see what a trail blazer she was. Hats off to the incomparable Ms. Jones.
It is funny that I remember this music video very well from my childhood(I was 3 years old!). He fell for me in the memory like none other. This motive with car and then with the polka-dot skirt... pure magic!
Wow, I remember seeing this when i was like 5yrs old and some of the images i still remember to this day particularly when she is bobbing up and down in a mushroom dress. Amazing & weird video. Truly original.
I have this album, but, today July 6, 2013, is the first time I've ever seen this video. I'm such a knucklelhead for missing it. I've never seen anything even close to the ingenuity, and genius of it. A few years back my sister's friend go her two tickets to the Hollywood Bowl to see Grace Jones. custom parking, the works. We got invited to go backstage, and my sister declined. I could have killed her. I was so mad. I don't know why she said no.
I was about 10 years old when my father got this tape for the VCR which was also very scarce then.I must have listened to this song like a 2000000 times. We do not own the video anymore so thank you evers so much for it!!!!
I recognize the Kodak, Lee Cooper, La Poste, Orangina, Peugeot 205, Citroën CX2 (I owned one!), Bouillons Maggi commercials we had here in France. Aaah those good old days... sigh...
There is no other video like it. As original and iconic as its subject. Slave To The Rythm was and is groundbreaking and a feast for the eyes in visual excellence. Grace was at her peak in 1985 and will forever be remembered for this modern masterpiece! Timeless.
i was dancing to this at 17 in an enigmatic club called the starck club in dallas tx as i watched her perform the song. she is force like no other. amazing. i will never forget it. i simply cannot get enough of this video.
Brilliant song and one of the best videos EVER! Miss Grace Jones is a one and only original. Greta, this album came out in '85, not '87. I'm fortunate to have the cover in a poster form, framed in my crib. I treasure it. Peace to all and long live Miss Grace and let's hope she keeps recording. Her last release, Hurricane, was incredible!
All hail the mighty stack-philly. I was always pumped when this got national play because of the background band kickin' old skool style blue eyed brotha from Oxon Hill ('85')
Absolutely outrageously brilliant! Just to think that this was created a quarter of century ago... So bold, creative and innovative. A revolutionary video. Can never get enough of it.
Best video ever. No doubt about it. Where the talent of this caliber today? I mean who is gonna watch one of today's videos 25 years from now? There's several versions of this on RU-vid, totaling a million hits!!! And who can forget "Boomerang's" Strange?
Grace Jones and this video used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid, lmbo! but I loved watching it bcuz I loved the music and found the contents of the video interesting. Never seen anything like it.
This is one of the best videos ive seen in at least the last 15 years, and maybe ever, as i really cant think of one thats better, off the top of my head.
80's were only 30yrs from 50's and so many interesting innovative shit in music & fashion had happen. I did not see much interesting breakthrough shit since 1994 till now. Stuff just rotting away more & more.
The poster from this brilliant album cover is my apartment in all its huge framed glory. This album was actually from '85, not '87 (copyright is on the poster). But no dif. It was brilliant at the time and still timeless. Like all of her music after her late 70 disco days. This is one of the all time best videos and songs EVER. The few dislikes...petuey! They must be into Nicki Menaj....or whatever that Porky Pig sounding thing is. New colored wig....Thaaaaaatttt's Alllll Follllks!
I am begining to realise that all passion has been taken out of music and culture these days.Theres no soul left now in the west. Maybe there will be a renaissance. However this could well be the best music video ever made. Its excellent in every artistic way and full of passion and rebellion.
what i like about electronic music, is that there is no more inside band musical fights anymore. mostly one guy sets the song, and thats it, so the music keeps on flowing without end. ever evolving, faster and better as rock
Truly a masterpiece! I absolutely love it's originality. I had this song playing in a recent party I hosted. Everyone loved it. By the way, 3:25 is my favorite part. I just feel like grabbing a sliver platter with h'orderves and spin around like that ughhh. I wish I was a teen in the 80's.
there was a 45vynil with 6 or 7 mixes of the same song. poeple used to listen all versions all day long and get crazy. they were very different from each other and these days nobody remembers but this one version. i cant seem to find these special versions ever again. nor does anyone of u remember aswell
I AGREE A 100% WITH THE COMMENT AS THIS BEING ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG AND VIDEO OF ALL TIME. MOST DEFINITELY THE CAR GETTING INTO THE HEAD'S EXTENDED MOUTH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SCENES.
