Since 1962, The Dubliners have been enthralling audiences worldwide with their music and song. The strength and attractiveness of The Dubliners has always been in the personalities of the musicians who have made up this boisterous band of balladeers, from original members, Ronnie Drew, Barney McKenna, Luke Kelly, Ciarán Bourke, John Sheahan and Bob Lynch to the arrival at different stages of Jim McCann, Seán Cannon, Eamonn Campbell and finally the peerless Paddy Reilly.

It’s such a shame that people don’t know about or have forgotten the tragic story of Grace’s sister Muriel, which in some ways is as sad if not more so than Graces story and of course are events that increased the devastation and sense of loss for Grace herself and the children. Sad times indeed but a period of history the Irish people can be so proud of, times and events that still stand as a beacon of light for Irish freedom. It is their memory and deeds that keep the flame of liberty alive.

I had to leave my own sick bed, to him I had to go Chorus: Oh Grace, just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger They'll take me out at dawn and I will die With all my love, I place this wedding ring upon your finger There won't be time to share our love for we must say goodbye Now as the dawn is breaking, my heart is breaking too On this May morn, as I walk out, my thoughts will be of you And I'll write some words upon the wall so everyone will know I love so much that all I could see his blood upon the Rose. Monumental. Magnificent and everything an Irishman could ever ask for. The true love of his woman and his dedication to his beliefs. You can't import that from any of those false flag nations. Our heroes were Irishmen. No nation on this earth have the hearts of Irishmen.

@@tom_anderson If we were having this conversation in the 1990s, I would have agreed with you. However, look at the country today. We're ruled over by psychopaths, lunatics and pension collectors. Younger generations increasingly cannot afford housing, taxes are through the roof and we have a mountain of debt withal. There are also many things that I can't mention on youtube, but do you really think our Founding Fathers wanted something like the hate speech bill to exist?

I think that of all the stupid things England has done in Ireland, the drawn out executions of the leaders of 1916 was the dumbest. Before the executions, most Irish were pretty indifferent to rebellion. After the killings, especially that of James Connelly who was seriously injured and had to be carried in a stretcher and tied to a chair to be shot, Ireland got a massive surge to obtain freedom.

As an immensely proud Irish-American, Grace is one of my dearest songs, taught it to my children (My daughter's middle name is Grace) as toddlers. Together as a family we traveled to Ireland and Northern Ireland and learned and walked the grounds of the GPO and Kilmainham Goal, me as a grand-child and namesake for a 1916 Uprising Survivor and my children, my son is also a namesake of his great grandfather. Fast forward to 2016 my son a Sgt. in the United States Marines Corps attended the 100th Anniversary celebration of the uprising as a member of then Vice-President Biden's security detail, walking the street toting a gun just like his Great Grandfather that day in 1916. I still get chills when I hear this song and yes I do tear up.

I get where you're coming from honey I'm saying it's all true some, like Grace to me is a love song that's where the truth comes from and about 90% of other Irish music is true based on true events I'd rather listen to Irish music than made up rubbish pop xxxshanna
