In this video, I show you 2 ways to grade a pants. 1st manually, by the points, than using my Toolfully grading ruler. I also give the measurements and show all the movements.

Hello Diane, I would like to ask - if I'm grading to a smaller size on the crotch point. For instance, while you were grading to a larger size on the crotch point you used (1/8 of total + 1/16). Now, I would like to know if I'm grading to a smaller size should I minus on the crotch (-1/8 of total and also - 1/16)?

Hello Diane, I want to start off by saying thank you for your videos, they are VERY helpful! My question is, if I want to go from a size 10 to a size 14 do I just double all the measurements you used when grading manually from a size 10 to a size 12?

Hello Linkol, I just look at the "South African Rands" value, and believe me I do understand. When you are ready, let me know, I often do a 10% promotion, and I would offer it to you, cause I do appreciate all your comments, questions and support. Also if you are patient, since shipping is so expensive, there is an option for "international surface" that is about 1/2 price BUT takes up to 12 weeks. I can't offer it in my easy boutique, but I do it on demand. Diane

Allo Diane! I have two questions. If my grainline isn't the regular grainline (more on bias), I can still use the regular grainline to do the grading right? And the "shorts point", is there a specific way to locate this point or it's at the hem of the shorts no matter the measurement? (I have your Toolfully rulers by the way! So that is the method I'll be using) Thank you!!

@dianedeziel This is probably super late to ask when this is from 2 year ago, but is the 1 1/2 in measurement to size up one size for any pant size. Also say I wanted to grade from a woman's size pant 4 to an 8, Do I have to do this step twice so it can be from 4-6 then 4-8. I guess where I'm not sure is the general grade measurement to go up one size where I'm not sure if it's an 1 in for both back&front

Hello Stephanie, there is no silly question! When you compare measurements to find out how much you need you must remember that a pattern usually have ease (+/- 4 cm at hi level) so you could measure your pattern at hip level 2X back + 2X front to get the all around BUT minus ease. Than you could compare to your hip body measurement. Lets say your pattern fit a 100 cm hip body measurement and you need to grade it to fit 120 cm hip body measurement You need to grade each 1/4 pattern piece by 20/4 = 5 cm, but to garde pants we put 1/2 on each side so 5/2 = 2.5 cm on each side of each pattern piece. Hello Mohammad, It might look like a have a big or medium size company, but I'm a one woman tiny business. In fact, I just retire from 25 years of teaching in a fashion design college and 2 years ago, I invest to produce these grading rulers, that I used ( an hand made prototype) for many years. Now, from my home, I'm simply sharing my knowledge in pattern making and sewing with the world. Diane
