How did Shane Wright go from 1st to 4th. He along with Berners have the potential to be franchise players for the Karken. I think it will with these two and future players will make Seattle a powerhouse team, in seasons to come.

I agree on Yurov to the wild, only because it’s a wildcard but I think it’s a pick that could turn into a B+/A- in time. It’s kind of a gamble to take on him but I think he could turn out to be a very good top 6 player.

Gonna be honest. I don't understand your grading system at all. Surely if a team picked the best player available, they should get an A for it, right? And if that player was the best available at 6 and instead falls to like 13th or whatever, he should still be the best available player and therefore still an A? Idk. It just seems like you're grading a lot of these picks way too low and I don't see the logic.

There is something with wright that seemed off and teams passed on him because of it. He is a talented player but he is basically just like Nick Suzuki, MTL getting Dach basically solidified why they took slafkovsky and the fact that they will most likely be in Bedard contention next year means they did not need wright. Slafkovsky could you his physicalities a bit better? WTH? He is 18 man! What are you talking about? Look at his last two big tournaments - Olympics - MVP, best scorer, all-star... WC2022 - best player of Sloavkia, most points. Now compare it to Wright. Look at his physical proportions at his age, his ability to contol the puck, ability to not only score but also assist. I havent seen player so versatile in a few years. His head is always up and he has absolutely no fear to do anything with the puck. He audacious and brave. Congrats Juraj! @@connorleary3998 If he performs well enough he could be given an earlier shot. Raymond wasn't supposed to make the team last season. My take is that he'll probably need time to develop. I think people underrate players Yzerman picks because he picks players that haven't hit their full stride yet developmentally. The players putting up amazing stats now might already be scraping their ceiling early (definitely not true for all) but players that demonstrate good drive and compete level, but haven't put up crazy numbers yet might have more future potential that Yzerman/his scouts see. Patience is key I think amazing early performance can also mess with some of these prospects because teams put them in too early, expect too much, and end up killing confidence and calling them busts, when they still might need some time to develop as well.
@7srchoed
@7srchoed 2 года назад
They key here is Center. Savoie and Nazar are not going to be Centermen in the NHL. So it was between Kasper and Geekie, and Kasper is the better prospect. Kasper has way higher two-way potential, his ceiling is a 2C but his floor is so high that I see there is no way he doesn’t reach that ceiling. There is no way he will be a bust. I think a lot of fans overrate potential in the draft when the majority of players simply don’t reach their entire potential.

I initially disliked the Slafkovsky pick at first as a Habs fan, but the following trade for Dach made me like it better. While we didn’t pick up Wright, a glaring need at center depth was addressed and winger depth was improved with Slafkovsky. Looks like Hughes put some thought into this and it appeared to have worked in his favor. We’ll see for sure in the future.

I think your "C" grade for Detroit is off. Yzerman's track record with top 10 picks in Detroit is looking very, very good. The Wings practically sprinted to the podium. Kasper was clearly THE guy they wanted. One of the first statements Yzerman made was that Detroit believes that Kasper is very underrated offensively. It's hard to question his judgment considering how both the Seider and Raymond picks were viewed as "less than" type of picks. I'm not saying Kasper will be a Calder finalist or a legit star, but I think you have WAY undervalued when you are talking about Kasper being possibly a below average 2nd line center or high end 3rd line center. I'm of the belief that Steve Yzerman has significantly better talent evaluation skills than the person writing this comment or anyone who will read it..

I don't know how much film you watched of Schaefer, but he is a player that plays all situations for the Thunderbirds. Being a T-bird fan he reminds me of a lot of Keegan Kolesar, but Shaefer is a year ahead of where Keegan was offensively in their draft years. Watching him play, I think he surprises opponents which how fast he can be for his size. It also sounds like he is a guy willing to put in serious work on his game. I look forward to seeing him play next season and see what kind of jump he takes for the T-birds.

Habs did the right thing, they got Kirby Dach which is almost identical in gameplay to Wright but minus Wrights egoistic attitude and at the same time they got the best player of the draft - Slafkovsky, Habs absolutely dominated on this draft, this new Habs management already showed they know what they are doing.

@@auri5459 Sorry but Wright has much more offensive potential than Dach ever had. I'm a Wings fan and when rumors surfaced before the start of the draft of the Wings possibly trading for Dach, my response was "no thank you, we don't need another Rasmussen". If Habs fans are expecting him to be an offensive productive center, i think they will run him out of town pretty quick. The offense hasn't been there at the NHL level (no points in 3 AHL games also) and his defense/faceoffs are not good. Those things can be worked on (defense and faceoffs) but like Rasmussen, i don't think you can expect much offense going forward and not a 2nd line center. I think there is a reason a rebuilding team traded a 21 year old that was drafted 3rd overall...they don't see the potential in him being a building block going forward and wanted to cash in on him while teams are still thinking about potential before his value dropped even lower. I think Dach (like Rasmussen) were big guys that easily dominate junior kids with their size but against pro men, they can't do that as easily and they struggle to produce. I would be more confident about big guys that play in Europe against grown men (like Slafkovsky) than big guys that dominate in the CHL against kids.

This Cutter Gauthier take is way different than everything I've heard or seen for myself lol. Reducing him to just a physical specimen is doing serious disservice to his shot, which is among the best in the draft class. He's a physical power forward, yes. But he's also a sniper. His skating is already NHL ready, and he already got PK time for the USNDT. I've always heard "high ceiling/low floor" because it's anybody's guess if he'll fully adjust to the Center position as a puck handler and distributor. The Flyers have not given me much to like recently. But Cutter is definitely one thing to like.

Hey, I love the content you produce. I have a fundamental question.... We heard that Chicago is entering a reconstruction phase... Could you explain how trading 2 of their best young players in Dach and Debrincat is going to help? I can understand that they have stacked up first round picks with these trades but if you want to reset, isn't it by trading veterans and building around a YOUNG core?
@alexpolidoro4126
@alexpolidoro4126 2 года назад
Chicago is in the running for Connor Bedard or even Michov. What they just did proves they are on a huge reconstruction phase. Toews is on his last year of his contract and they can still continue with Kane unless a team makes them an offer they can't refuse. Dach wanted good money as he is an RFA but he will likely get a modest deal simply because of his numbers which were not good. Romanov wants 6M a year which does not justify that amount given he is still not matured to reach that level despite being a fan favourite. The potential is there but the agents are very greedy these days especially for their young stars clientele once they reach RFA status. Brad Tkatchuk makes over 8M a year but does he have more offensive skills than Dach ? The salary cap culture creates a huge headache especially when a team has a bunch of young players moving up the ranks. When the free agent session begins, watch for a lot of moves to happen among some teams who have many RFA's to sign. Some notable UFA's may even sign for a discounts they are ending close to their careers. Chicago will have a nice team in a few years if they draft, train and develop their young players properly.
