What do you think about CGC. Our tastes align with collector’s mentality but I never really submit cards to get graded. Only comic books, but I ever do take them out on my one touch. Would it be better to submit to PSA, BGS or CGC? I personally have a PSA Pokemon card and I can see whitening on some corners so pretty sure if I submit it to either BGS or CGC it’ll be 8-9 at best. How is CGC prices comparing to BGS? I personally like the CGC labels better as well but if price is better to sell at BGS, might be something to think about :)

unless its a high value card do not submit any cards to bgs or psa, I have seen other CGC cards but I questioned their QC so in general if its for PC go for it. If not I would just wait for the price to come down and then submit otherwise just sell it raw more buyers.

I'm a card collector and have just recently got into comic book collecting. Personally I think the PSA slabs are trash. They are flimsy and look and feel very cheap to me personally. The grade is very hard to read and the label looks like ass. I only use CGC for all my cards. I like the slab 100% better. It feels WAAY more sturdy and strong. The grade is very easily noticeable and they are cheaper than the other 2 major grading companies. I jus got into graded comic book collecting and that's not why I prefer cgc for cards it's been like that for me since day 1. My advice is use what you like. The 3 major ones are all the same. If it is a REALLY expensive card I would consider Beckett but its definitely CGC for me all the way

Whether you should grade or not is based on value of the card after being graded, what you paid for it, and whether or not you want to keep the card in good condition... and little bit on when it is that you are grading and want it back. For example, recently people missed out on a lot of money recently because they sent in millions of cards to PSA and Beckett. This caused them to be flooded and delayed them in actually grading and returning cards. In the interim those cards went up in value and then fell due to a number of factors... and lots of people still have not gotten their cards back. For sports you want to sell at specific times during the season and as a result you need to have an idea when relevant cards will come back. Who should you submit it to? PSA is the gold standard name brand and they will charge you based on the value of the card because they are insuring the card appropriately when they ship it back to you. They have a lot of problems but they also are open to fixing them... however they won't subgrade ever apparently which makes them worth less imo, but up until a pristine 10 card they are top value. Beckett is top value if you have a 10, but they only insure what you say its valued at, they are still backlogged, and their services are a huge mess. SGC Is the middle between PSA and Beckett, sometimes surpassing Beckett in the 10s and PSA in the less thans plus they are returning quickly, have subgrades and most people like their cases... plus their relatively cheap. CGC has pretty much only stock in the TCG world and comic world but most collectors are more familiar with PSA... and still value a PSA over CGC. There is also GMA and several other graders out there that have various pluses and minuses but a grader lives and dies off their reputation, which means sending to any company other than SGC, Beckett, and PSA is gambling on future reputation, not present day collecting. As far as the "it looks fishy that there are so many in the higher grades" thing. I might think so to if I didn't know anything about grading. People usually don't send in cards themselves to get graded, but rather, they rely on people that do it all the time for multiple people who deal with cards all day every day and even the worst employee at these places are probably equivalent or better at grading things than the typical grader in any of these companies. And further, most of these people are in it for the money and want repeat customers. Most people will not buy below a specific grade in a given community. As a result people who submit pretty much only submit x and above level cards, usually around 7 or 8 as the lowest. in most cases. Understand that cards are pre-screened several times over before they make it to that list so it is not unusual or fishy to see cards mostly coming in at the higher end mostly... especially when you start understand exactly what you need to do to destroy some of these cards and what passes vs what doesn't ad how much each things effect the grade. In terms of cards coming back this or that grade in general... Remember that graders can have good and bad days so sometimes a 9 sometimes comes back and 10 and some times and 8 when it really shouldn't. That's the first thing to understand. The next thing is that each company does have a rough equivalency to another company, but in a lot of cases it doesn't matter. GMA graded card anectdotally are graded more stringently than PSA or Beckett but have lower value because of reputation and newer company. So when you get to this point its more a matter of what is the grader that is going to fit what you want them to do. Flipping, Displaying, Preserving, Getting a shiny 10, etc... Based on what you want to do determines who you should send in. In the case of WS I would love to see people give HGA a shot with their cases being somewhat customizable and their grading be pretty respectable, but honestly, if you're like most people, just send your card to PSA or SGC. Those two will give you the most desirable results in the least amount of time... I wouldn't recommend Beckett at this time, not because of their grading ability, but just about every other aspect of their business, other than their relative cheapness to PSA, but because most people do not like waiting a year and a half to get their cards back. Hope that was helpful and informative. Oh... also, shouldn't really listen to people who don't grade cards about grading cards/comics other than if they have an argument as to why you shouldn't... like it's totally stupid to grade comics in my opinion, but grading guarantees cash more or less. We can have that argument, but it goes back to purpose. My purpose for own a comic is to read it, not turn the low res art version that is the cover into a poster.

I don't play the games. I collect the cards and like to grade them for physical protection and investment value. I too am not a PSA fan. I like SGC for better grading and overall value and appearance.

Just my two cents. Honestly, it's not up to these grading companies to decide whether a card is in good shape or not. Because you can evaluate it yourself. A regular one-touch is enough. Grading is just to make money for these so called companies and investors.

For investors it does matter since a PSA 10 has a higher price.
