My favorite music is the one at 4:08, but the one at 3:07 (the crystal boss) is pretty amazing as well. Man it's amazing how these tunes stick in our heads. Haven't heard this in literally 23 years, and I still remember these exactly.
I just recently started playing games on my PS2 console once again and I'm eyeing on finishing this Gradius 3 game that I haven't beaten yet though I bought it in 2009. Based on the video above, Gradius 3 is like a revamped Gradius 2 due to the bosses. I finished the latter way back in 1997 or 1998 on the NES. This is, by the way, a very helpful video and I hope to finish Gradius 3 soon to move on playing Gradius 4.
Excellent video, dude. This was the 3rd game I ever owned on my SNES, and I played it so much, I could actually make it through Arcade difficulty using the twin lasers, and V-formation options and lose only 2 or 3 lives in a single run through. Of course, I never smoked through the bosses like you did!
I remember beating this game sooo many times when I was little. Never realized it was supposed to be "super" difficult...The Monarch ship, and the one that coils up and charges you are the only real dangerous ones...rest just sit there and die lol
wow.. when i was a kid i played this so hard.... i can go through stage 6.. and boss and then.. i'd stock.. i'm so amaze now i know the face and place of the boss
Just a question...if you think you can...do you think at the 5:10 boss that you can avoid his lasers till he self-destructs? Ive tried on hard mode, its very hard for me.
@TimelordR The bosses yes, there's little to no denying that. I meant the final bosses. Which don't really do much and just dissolve away, save for probably the final bosses of Graidus Gaiden, Salamander 2, and others that I am forgetting. Gradius V is definetly one of the harder games in the series, also, its alot more fun to me that way. But no, I can't ace Gradius V. I can barely surivie on Gradius II. XD
What was your Double set to? If it was Vertical then you were using almost the EXACT same set-up I used to beat Arcade mode... Except I used Rotating Options and had Full Barrier (Don't know what you had ! set to)
I suddenly remember falling for every trap as a nine year old. 1:20 The sudden diamond pattern beams, 1:36 being hit by the falling rocks after struggling to win, 2:09 dying to its exploding body after struggling to kill it, 2:29 getting sucked in and not knowing I need more speed ups to counter it, 5:39 the screen suddenly scrolling in hyper speed before you reach the boss... 6:30 I barely remember the final boss because I reached it so rarely.
You don't need more speed-ups for Vacuum Plant if you know where to stand when it goes near the left side of the screen: you stay on the top right and then when it stops sucking you go back
i really dont understand how i played this game when i was young and almost beat it at 3 or 4 years old...i tried playing it and i got owned...but its really fun tho and it brings back memories
@BuyMeThingsnow Umm, S.Spread are your missiles. But I guess it doesn't matter what your Double was then. But I find switching between Double and Lasers pretty useful on certain levels in Gradius games.
Nice work...! I never knew the E-Laser was such a powerful weapon... Is this the arcade version, the SNES version, or the Wii VC version? Because I don't remember the VC E-Laser packing this much power...
damn i remember playin this game when i was like 12 years old, i just got to the plant like boss, and back then i thought i was near completing the game.... boy was i wrong
+Photon Jet In the arcade version, he says "I was born from the greediness of mankind. While men exist, so will I." His speech in the SNES version sounds like it might be a intelligliby garbled version of those lines. If I had to guess, I imagine they didn't have the memory to make the voice sound decent on the SNES, so they distorted it into nasty alien/demonic dialect instead..
Those spaceships are called the"core"ship,if you played arcade version of salamander, gradius ii,iii,iv and most of the title,Vic viper's computer will say"destroy the core!"
xFreshXx-Skyrim LeggytT You can play it on a super nintendo or super famicom. Emulators on pc also work, and I believe it's also on the virtual console for Wii, I think.
