They were (and still are to a degree) abusing their position to promote members of their social group and harm those they disagree with. And when the dust settled, they demonstrated that this social group of mostly New York DUMBO-types had influence that spread to not just social media, but also mainstream media, crowd funding, and all the larger tech companies.

I hope he answers. I was never involved in the Gamergate thing, and never entirely got to the bottom of what it was about.

The _only_ reason his opinion has changed is because the tactics his side employed have been used against him. He hasn't actually learned anything. If his twitter friends hadn't turned on him he's still be promoting their anti-free speech stances and harassing tactics.

JKR was pretty woke at one point, but I haven't heard of her ever trying to cancel people. As for Graham, I know he was involved in some woke conflicts, etc, and I'm sure he's done some less than perfect things in the past. But then again, haven't we all? We are all just messed up and imperfect humans, going through this life, LEARNING. And also, speaking as a regular watcher / fan of The Mess We're In..? He has said on plenty of occasions that he's not sure if he can stand for any of what he used to do, or argue for, politically, before waking up to what was going on with this one issue! So that says a lot, yes..? People have to be allowed to change. People have to be allowed to have been WRONG in the past, and then be forgiven for their past mistakes, if they sincerely regret them! (Provided that they were not absolutely MASSIVE and incorrigible mistakes, such as.. say.. deliberately killing or maiming someone.) Speaking as someone who's changed her mind on plenty of issues, herself! Who used to be a full TRA, and not otherwise super woke, but at least moderately woke / woke adjacent. Thing is, if we are unwilling to forgive and accept people who SINCERELY come around to finally seeing what's going on, leaving woke orthodoxy, and disavowing cancel culture..?
