Compliation of photos and images of Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris and the Fallen Angel Band set to Hickory Wind from the Gram Parsons complete Reprise sessions. Enjoy!
Life is short, Gram's was even shorter, but he lived the life of "Gram Parsons" I do not dwell on what Gram did not accomplish but on what he gave us, in his case that was all he had to give. Thanks Gram.
I agree. I think this whole obsession with the 27 Club is sick, morbid, and useless. Concentrate on the fact that we were blessed with their talent to begin with. On the other hand, you can quote Roger Waters: "They flutter behind you your possible pasts / some bright-eyed and crazy / some frightened and lost / a warning to anyone still in command / of their possible future to take care."
only angels can sing like this and only the good die young Iknow my daughter sang like an angel and we sung luxury liner on stage shes an angel now i miss all the angels of this world
Greetings from Dublin Ireland 🇺🇦 🇮🇪 we have a lot of time here for one Gram Parsons 😀 👍 his influence is so global as a singer-songwriter Sure Emmylou still to this day carried the flag right here 2years ago when she sang Boulder to Birmingham She had us by the balls.... Hickory wind always give me hope ...
Hard to believe we are coming up on 50 years since Gram took himself out of this life ...Loved for years his voice ..with FBB or Byrds & especially perhaps with EmmyLou ....This music cannot ever get too old ...for me :(
Back home... or wanting to go back home music. The sweetness of his voice speaks volumes of his emotional vulnerability... and makes the song even more beautiful...
Wow! I love to hear Gram's singing! He had such an amazing voice! He and Emmylou were so compatible, performing together! A perfect duo! Thanks for sharing this! Peace and joy, Charles
He deserves induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He influenced so many artists that heard his songs and took them to their own level. Just a few, Poco, Firefall, Eagles, Emmylou Harris and any combination of the Flying Burrito Brothers.
Mark Symms Can’t understand why he is not inducted into CM Hall of fame. The inventor of Cosmic Music.Love listening to this man.He impressed E L Harris no end. What better recommendation could you have.
@@sandyjohnson3030 Because the reps at the record companies wanted Gram to record main stream country and Gram refused. Gram walked out on a few of them telling them (according to Gram) to fk off. If Gram hadn't stuck to what he wanted we would never have heard his music. He would have been limited to country covers and none of his own music
Beautiful song, an all time favorite. The best GP and Emmylou ever did together, IMHO. GP is still missed, and thought of often. I want everyone to remember him today, on his birthday, and all the music that followed that was influenced by him. Another's words sum up his legacy - "People are influenced by him without even knowing it. He's an innovator...the influence is felt over the years and decades to come. That's why he's still around, because he's an original."
Dear dadzbluz or whoever you are, I do agree to what you said, it 's a shame that Gram died so young. Hickory wind is my favourite song. I'm 72 now but but i'll never loose that feeling hearing this song, every time tears come because it's so beautiful. greetings from the old country Holland Thijs
This is the first song I ever heard Emmylou sing - the duet allegedly recorded in Canada. Got smitten then and still am with both of them. Unbelievably beautiful.
@@OhtobeinIreland Well, it was actually recorded in LA. It was part of a medley called Live From Northern Quebec; a pretend concert with bar noises contributed by Gram's friends. Just something from Gram's creative mind.
There were MANY times when as a morose teenager i would listen to Gram & EmmyLou...especially the GP & Grievous Angels LP's...and catharctically they made me feel better ..because i would cry through the whole album....and for that i am grateful...forever
@@squeakeththewheel Emmylou once said not to feel sad about Gram but to be glad for all he brought. Hard to do, I know, but when I hear his music it's like he's still here. He'll live longer than I will.
happy birthday gram, you and your music are still relevent man ... a pioneer of country-rock-alt country ... damn this is one beautifull song.. aint heard it in a long time ..
there are nine very tone deaf people who visited this site, amazing one of the all time classics penned by Gram parsons have loved this song for 40 years and love playing it, how could anyone dislike such outstanding talent?
My all time #1 song. We drive to Charleston from ohio every summer. I play this every time we see the "welcome to south Carolina " sign. I ♥ Emmylou. Shine on gram.
One of my top ten all-time favorite songs. It's a hard way to find out that trouble is real, in a far-away city, with a faraway feel. But it makes me feel better, each time it begins. Calling me home, hickory wind. Thanks, Gram.
I'm 46, missed the whole thing. But I listen to several Gram songs everyday. THE BEST! Love Dwight Yoakam singing his songs, he should do a tribute album!
