I'm ready for Larkin Poe rehab. I am completely addicted. I can't stop watching. I've lost control. lol The best new music I have found in 20 years. So much talent.
I have a friend who is a professional musician and has done session work in the '60's and '70's. He says that Megan's slide playing is the best he has ever heard. He's also very, very impressed with Rebecca's vocals and guitar playing. As a guy who is just now starting to learn how to play guitar and a life long fan of all kinds of music, I have to say that I love Larkin Poe's music. I've seen them live, and they're just fabulous. I met them after their show. They're very cool people who love their fans. God bless you Rebecca and Megan, can't wait to see you guys perform live the next time you're in our area. As I said when I met you, thank you so much for keeping this music alive!
Keep on strumming. I could play hundreds of songs in my teens. Stopped. In retirement I'm beginning again. It's hard but I'll unconsciously start playing those old songs automatically. It's nice playing with no real goals, just enjoying the moment.
No modern blues has classic appreciation and ability melded with modern sounds and effects, tastefully employed, as these ladies. Outstanding interview, answers/replies/witicism and humanity.
A Hammond B-3 covers a multitude of sins on any stage. Great paintbrush. I love these ladies and the fact they learned to play and have that blood harmony, killer. Best new young musicians I've heard in years and I've heard a bunch.
Attended my first concert (Beatles) in 1964. Saw most of the legends since then. Larkin Poe can stand proud with any of them. L.Poe is my favourite current band ❤❤ They have a great humble appreciation for their fans.
Well, we all love this song. I kind of perked up when they did the accapela(sp) stuff. On stage it rocks. Hey, duct tape don't lie, there's been some work going on. To me, Larkin Poe is the Phoenix that arose from the disbanding of the Lovell sisters. That original trio can't be replaced. OK, maybe I should not be so enthralled with 17 year old girls, but I was younger then too. I was only sixty back then.
Its seems to me it might be a weird way to make a living , but Its the Best way , All the way around for me and you and the World that you Choose your way , LarKin Poe Love Ya
Fantastic music and band. To add more, the musicians they were influenced by are old school bluesmen and rockers. They mentioned Leadbelly, Son House, Thin Lizzy! Brilliant! Great interview as well.
Special shout out to Gen. Braxton Bragg (2 G's) & his Tennessee Volunteers for kicking some Yankee ass at Chickamauga. They saved L.H. Poe and his household. Ole Larkin went on to procreate w/ a local charmer who was more beautiful than Job's daughters. Four generations later we get his Rock N Blues offspring, who crush it every time they take the stage... Cornel (w/ 1 L) the interviewer, who likes to embellish, asked the perfect question ... "Why is Megan so enchanting ????? " . . . . .
Absolute magic. Their sound and vocals are superb. The slide sound has got to be one of the best out there. Would love to hear them do Born under a bad sign from the Etta James - Life, Love and the Blues. That track would sound great with Larkin Poe's slide and vocals.
Check out their "Tip o' the Hat" videos. They didn't cover that, but they've covered quite a bit. Aside: I have a recurring dream where I'm FRC at Fillmore East and the show is Duane Allman & Megan trading licks and playing off each other.
Don't need the B3, have enough music already, though, some of their videos show a keyboard on stage with either Megan or the Bass player, using it for some additional flavor. I do agree with the Statesboro Blues request, and gave you a 👍!
I thought I had an eclectic taste in music. I know that's not really that unusual because most serious musicians listen to everything but these 2 put it on display for all to see and hear.
Thank you Rebecca Southern Rock was our dream and I'm taken it back..! Goonies I love Goonies when they set their foot down about their dream at the coin in the fountain..! Yiy pick that coin up from the fountain Larkin Poe take us back with you..!
Cousin of Edgar Allan Poe..! Named my son after Edgar Allan Poe..! Thanks for setting us streight.! Sorry you still Trace back to Sir William Thompson the Third first Anglican Ministry missionary to Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1634..! Whatch out Beatles their English..!
green323turbo - Ah, women have been welcome in blues for quite some time. Too many to mention here, but I think you see my point. Larkin Poe are fantastic regardless of gender. 🇺🇸🗽🦅
Remarkable how with just two instruments, they play all that needs to be played. No need for rhythm and lead guitars, bass, keyboard, horn section, etc. etc. etc. I know they sometimes have a bass and drums with them, but they don't really need 'em.
My great, great grandmother was a first cousin of John Wesley Hardin. He could shoot and write, wrote his autobiography. Killed 45 men, more prolific a shooter than a writer.
These girls can play live and at every place, immediately. They only need their instruments. I think, that they never in their life, played playback. Some popstars do it only so. Go on and come to Europe.
Brother dj, same thing untold the other girls from Nashville before I spilt coffee all over my leg, you women best know what your in for, "forever" do I wanna die or live.
I totally agree. As good as their performance was, a little reverb would have been what was needed to soften the edges so to speak and provide some sonic depth. Absolutely fantastic musicians nonetheless.
WATCH IT NOW, my daughter Tamara Wilson SCOTTISH, Black FOOT, and Cherokee, she's blond and white SO WHAT..! SHE DOES THE BLUES BETTER THAN ANY OTHER GENRE..!
Ha. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Who knew girls could ride a horse like a guy. So,someone pull those poor shedding girls out of the rooms.
