I don't know why im crying while watching this GT1 intro. Nostalgic, when i was a kid my dad introduced this game, he's a car guy back in 90's, he bought PS1 and he's very happy playing this game, I can't beat him on multiplayer mode, even on GT2. Love you dad, thanks for raising a car guy.
Man, same! At the age of 9 my life trajectory was changed forever. The epic build-up along with those visuals, then the engine rev. Goddam the nostalgia is real
I’m 34 now and remember the furore when this came out. It was one of those games that kept its full retail price (£40-£44.99) forever and still flew off the shelves. I remember being in awe of how realistic looking the trees gently swaying in the wind, that leaf on the race track, and the startled bird fluttering away were. The visuals and music pair so together to create something that feels just as atmospheric watching it over two decades later!
When "The real driving simulator" came on screen on my PS1... goosebumps... now? I wish we still had those big ass waterguns, hits for kids, crash bandicoot, spyro, harry potter games, also those toys who almost killed you in the yard, or broke your ancle. lel. Being 27 now... feels like shit agreed
This is when I knew that the almighty, unbreakable arcade machines, with their incredible complex motherboards where finally doomed. It was the introduction of the PS1 and Gran Turismo, I knew the arcades where sealed in their doom. Both a beautiful and tragic realization. Beautiful, in the sense, going to the arcades, up to this point, was the only source of incredible graphics and sound. Tragic, in the sense, the journey of traveling to the arcades was gone.
Myself and my older brother used to play this constantly at weekends. My parents loved it too since at the time it was so realistic. This game will always have such a huge place in my heart, I know my older brother and my dad would have loved to play GT7. I'll race trial mountain in a Corvette to honor their memory ❤️
Blasted THIS on max volume on the stereo of my car yesterday. Hadn't heard it in years, and boy, it was so intense and emotional. All the great childhood memories from my first ever video game came back. And; This is so much better than the full version from Chemical Brothers. I mean, the moment from when the car names starts flying by, and the printing of ''The real driving simulator'' that culminates in the lift off at 1:14 that again explodes into that great intro tune... Wow... It just changes the whole song, and the mix is cooler and gets you so goddamned pumped up! Great intro, great game, priceless memories.
Bro when that 3000GT VR-4 Launched and the beat dropped you KNEW it was on. This game changed the way I thought about car games from this point on. I still have a PS-1 and this game along with the original Need for Speed and a handful of others.
polyphony thank you for make this game and this intro. i have this recorded in my mind since i was10. impossible to do it better, the impact of the images and the amazing song, thanks for include it in the europe version of gt. the good times never go back...
20 years ago, when I was 7 years old, I played it the last time and now watching this intro made me feel, like it was yesterday. This game made me a Skyline Fan and I still am. Thank you for bringing back the good old childhood memories. Good ol' times never die.
The game intro was definitely years ahead of its time... even the graphics hold up 20+ years later. Simply amazing what Polyphony accomplished in a 3 minute video.
Hands down, not just one of the best video game intros ever, it's one of the best intros ever in amy medium!! This includes movies, serials, TV Shows, this intro is better than many TV Shows and movies have!!
95-96 was beast as hell SNES running strong, sega genesis still going, N64 springing up PS1 going everyone trying to get doom on their console. tho i will say 1998 was the year Playstation was like the King of games, MGS came out then, i dunno they just had a handle on that system then it was amazing then.
There are most games that you start up and jam that start button repeatedly to get the game going. There has not ONE time that I skipped this intro. It prepared you for greatness.
this buildup is from another world, and very well complemented with flashing video, engine noise and kickoff. Awesome intro. one hell of a game, made for everyone, but car enthusiasts on mind.
For the longest time, when we played this game, we'd just skip the intro. One day I must have accidentally let it play all the way. We never skipped it again.
E P I C So many memories, feelings. Saw GT7 intro and thought uau this is fabulous a remaster of part of gta1 intro.. but then i watched this again and theres no chance!! This is pure art, landmark in videogame history
There was something special about the 90’s era. Considering this is over 20 years old, i honestly don’t think they make them like they used to. What an emotional rollercoaster it was to watch this after many years.
Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one that was mesmerized by this song and intro from the first time I saw it. It was like realizing your purpose in life and understanding what it means to live. It introduced me to the Chemical Brothers, even though this mix is better than the original. I knew that I liked cars before but this game introduced me to models that I had not seen or or heard of and it taught me the basics of suspension set-up. This intro though...
Everytime I played this game as a kid I would get chills down my spine when the cars started to rev after the game logo came up. Absolutely fantastic intro and still today in 2020 Gran Turismo is still the best racing game series ever made. BRING ON GRAN TURISMO 7!!!
Chemical Brothers fits awesome to this intro. Back then Chemical Brothers did great tunes. My first and last GT game :D I got into PC gaming and SIM racing so no more console games for me. But it was nice experience to play GT back then with limited power of electronic entertainment. Now sim games have way better playground to be build on. Nostalgia will never die.
From the beginning of it all... Now playing 7 on PS5 THANKING POLYPHONY STUDIOS AND SONY for such a masterpiece in this game. At 39 now, playing ALL series (including rivalry in the "FH" series up to 7 now on my X-BOX Series X, great series but not quite GT status) with my son who is almost 7, seeing his eyes and expressions is rewarding and amazing to say the least. BEST racing series ever. FACTS imo
This is what started it all for me. I'm an auto enthusiast solely because of this game. Not because of Fast and the Furious. Not because of Need for Speed. But this game alone. Thank you Gran Turismo.
Was going through my old PS1 and PS2 games - this game and twisted metal were the only games I kept with the original case. I didnt have the heart to toss her. Legendary masterpiece to say the least.
The way I screamed when I saw the throwbacks to the old GT games was absurd, they just set the bar at a level I feel it’s gonna be my most played game of 2022
This game was made with such passion that it jist oozes right from the intro. What a brilliant game. I hope Polyphony Digital really get it back with GT7.
I can't tell you how many times I haven't skipped this intro as a kid, this got me into JDM, this got me into electronic music and music production. I even remember that the beginning frightened me at first, but still, I could not break the spell. This just takes me back to a simpler time, a better one.
YES! The start used to scare me as a kid too. Not sure why. I think it was the buildup because I always had the TV real loud because the first engine rev was just the best.
this intro just popped into my head and had to find the track. Chemical Brothers Remix of Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers...such awesome memories :)
Born in '89. Got a play station and this game when i was old enough, pretty young, lol. It was a favorite. Still is. But the play station prices are crazy now and switched to xbox last fall. Its mostly for my kid now anyway haha
Damn, the NOSTALGIA of the first Gran Turismo game, and the first racing ever, that I have played. Watching this intro feels like that im watching a Super Hero movie. This intro is fire, and will be one of the iconic games on Playstation history 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m 31 now and this intro still gives me goosebumps like it did back in the 90s. Seriously one of the best intros to a game ever. And not only that, this game went on to change how racing games were forever done. I just remember seeing this intro and playing this game and seeing that racing games were just never the same after this. Revolutionary.
This intro gives me goosebumps. Just writing this my hairs are standing on end remembering being immersed in this game. I loved multi-player and watching the replays back, which were slightly beefed up compared to the in game visuals it seemed. One of the greatest audiovisual experiences ever especially for that era. When I first played this with a dual shock I was blown away. Shit. This was the best time in my life. What the hell happened....
I cant count how many hours I spent on this game when I was 11 or 12 years old back in 1998-1999 😂🤣😂🤣. Something for sure is that it was the first and maybe the last time I really enjoyed (with perhaps GT2) a race car game so much... Everything was perfect.. the huge amount of cars available.. the soundtrack.. the details.. the customization of each cars.. even this intro is perfect...
Now that Gran Turismo 7 is out, all I can imagine is how players reacted to watching this intro and playing this game for the first time in 1998. I'm sure today, they're all reacting the same way with GT7 as they did with GT1.
