After the joy of throwing the Mitsubishi Evo around the track last time out, we come down to earth slightly with the Toyota Altezza; a company car for line managers straight out of 2003.
However, this episode takes an unfortunate turn, and like drinking too much on a night out, I wake up with some regrets...

I'd forgotten the additional cruelty of the Beetle Cup Car being the opponents in the Beginner League Beetle Cup. Not only is it throwing you against full blown racing cars, you can't even buy one yourself.

Exactly! I know there's the preview option where I could've checked, which I never do, but damn it's the BEGINNER LEAGUE 😢

I always assumed the "mountain" of Trial Mountain was the bit over the tunnel too.

One of my favorite parts of this series is that in almost every video, we see fiscally responsible adult Ash try to save money lol 😆 either that or see him wincing when he has to purchase a new car 😆

Also with regards to what next, the Evo can compete in the amateur 4WD championship and amateur Japanese championship (not sure how many upgrades but not many, the 4WD champ prize car isn't very helpful considering you already have an Evo), and the Z28 with tires can do the amateur American championship (where you can win a TT, RX7 and another two others but winning the Audi would allow you to do the TT championship). I would earn some cash by golding any beginner races that you haven't done already, bin the Beetle cup off (for now! it's a good challenge but too costly at the moment) and then lightly upgrade the Evo for the Japanese Championship and pray I win the FTO from there (fast FF car for FF championship) or RX7 (for the FR champ), then tackle the American champ. That's what I would do but it's fun to see you do it your way and prize cars probably wont be that nice to you but you can hope! fingers crossed any of this helps you plan out what you want to do next. Loved the EP by the way, you really started driving better after you where blessed by the fleshyaris, you to have a tendancy to send it very hard into the corners which makes you either tremendosly fast when it's going well...or in a wall, very fun to watch but maybe (a bit) less excuberance would result in more consistant laps, it's a fine line though, the evo can deal with it but the altezza stuggled, suspension would help you a lot in these situations as well!

I've been very lucky with the amount of ridiculously close finishes in this playthrough. And more often than not been the winner. I don't recall having this many photo-finishes when I used to play it. 😂 Thanks for the advice; that does reinforce my (albeit way too late) plan to push into some of the Amateur comps next. Considering my luck with with prize cars so far, I'm not going to rely on those at all. 😅 Glad you enjoyed the episode! I definitely think I was still in Evo driving mode for most of this episode, missing the better stock suspension and 4WD. At least I'll get to jump back in it for the next episode! All hail FleshYaris.
