Speaking from just driving in real life cars do that obviously. The rear steps out a little uphill but mostly the front lightens. Downhill the rear really can step out because of the inertia.
Cars in gt have always been way to glued to the ground (vertically I mean, not grip. It's way too hard to flip cars which is super unrealistic. Hell, some past GT games literally made it impossible to flip cars)
The way the cars brake and get unstable over bumps and stuff really reminds me of iracing and how punishing that thing can be. It does seem to be more realistic, but is it fun? I dunno. Kinda torn on it, honestly. It works fine for me since I'm used to cars over rotating on brakes and stuff but a lot of people I know that play sims more casually are having a bad time.
I know my opinion isnt much, but i like the new physics! Im actually able to battle for anplace without banging or sliding into them! Has helped me Bee more competitive! Awesome job Rory, keep it up!
Yeah physics/handling is a huge improvement in this update. Especially off-road. If you’ve actually driven off-road in real life, or played the better rally games out there, GT7 off-road was so detached from reality before this update. Now it’s all just more realistic.
Tbh I think the offroad is much harder now. I tried to do circuit experience on a snow track and dirt and both were so much tougher than ever before Before I would get gold on the first try. Now I'm having a hard time getting silver
You‘re a true driver! Its way more realistic now. I love to drive the stock cars with just exhaust tuning and better tires. The really feel a lot realer now..!
It's finally happened after however many years gt7 is good. And on hard the Sophy Ai is a good challenge too. Well done hot fix for the bouncy stuff. But hiid shit Polyphony
I love GT, i play since the original, but if u compare to other sims GT is easy to drive, sometimes i play ACC or AC and takes me a few races just to not to crash on a lap @@klayshotter
I actually feel like the new physics is way easier. The old physics made zero sense so I would randomly spin out for pretty much no reason whatsoever (I'm used to ACC and rF2 for context and I never spin on those) and now with the new physics I'm rarely ever spinning, and when I do spin it's for a reason and actually makes sense rather than being completely random. These new physics are far less snappy and much more smooth, and WAY more predictable.
I love that even on controller I have to actually pedal the car around more. The steering feels more predictable as well. It's not fun for people that just want to ride on a rail around a track to set a new PB but, for racing this is better. The "driver" is more in control and that's a good thing.
If I get your meaning I agree. It's harder to set personal bests and drive and do hotlapping because it's more unforgiving when it comes to ultimate speed, but also more realistic which also kind of makes it easier to just drive I've been hotlapping a lot lately so I've been struggling but in a good way. Its reminding me of hotlapping in AC which is also pretty unforgiving at the edge
I’ve been driving the Porsches lately and really noticed a change with the MR vehicles, not necessarily a negative but I agree that the driving may feel more “unforgiving” at times, specially under braking, cornering & elevation changes. The racing itself has improved
As soon as i played gt7 after the update i could feel the difference immediately. Cars feels like cars now. Every input before and mid apex matters now. I love the physics update
Totally new to the game I’ve had it a month or so now and it’s amazing loving the new update ! The new physics seem to be good so far as well I noticed off the bat with the game that understeer was an issue no matter what on some vehicles even with tuning and what not. Also just came across the channel for the first time too !
The incident with the BMW at the end of lap 1 was entirely on you. You passed on the inside almost in the pit entrance lane, and you weren't even on the backdoor of the car when attempting to overtake.
Yeah, I get the frustration of going from first to last and wanting to get back up there, but that was overly aggressive, and the response after shoving him off the road should have been just "Sorry".
Are you serious ? There was no contact and passing on the inside line was perfectly valid. His dive bomb didn’t cause an incident. Rather, it was the M6’s fault for not not yielding despite being passed.
I thought so too at first then I watched again. I’m no racing steward but Rory was far along the BMW’s rear axel and was in full control of his car before the corner, the BMW should’ve left a space. I could be wrong though

@chorizojoe8282 the beemer wasn't passed, he was pushed. Stop licking Rory's nuts. Rory didn't come off the curb out of the chase, he held his line along the grass and into part of the pit lane off track.
I don’t recall anyone complaining about the handling physics to necessitate a change. Now all cars understeer grotesquely, I had cars the were spot on tuned for 700pp for Le man, now they’re coming up nearly 10 points over. The weather physics on that track are all corrupt now too. I used to be able to throttle manage my cars around tracks when the tires were completely bald, now it’s instant spin. They should have left what was good alone.
I did mention in the live stream that short wheel base cars really love to unload coming off skyline. Gotta be careful not being to quick running down the gears causing compression lockup either. Also dropping a wheel in the chase proves spicey. Overall the new physics seem to be a good improvement.
Prior to the new physics this track could be quite challenging in a few segments of it’s entirety, but now following the new physics update this course has become one 1️⃣ f the more challenging course to negotiate if you have other cars on the course with you. It’s pretty easy to throw yourself around the course solo, but when theres competition on the track you have to be extremely careful not to tap another car. I personally have to admit that I love the new physics, because it’s made GT7 much more competitive at every experience level.
I love the new physics. I feel like a lot of the understeer issues people have can be fixed with a good tune, I've had to change some tunes, but ultimately it feels a lot better to me
I like the new physics. Makes it more realistic now. Feels more like a simulator than ever before ❤ especially in cockpit view, I really feel the immersion
Thanks for admitting it everybody is saying they love it its so realistic. This track is so hard to do a clean fast lap without hitting the wall. And don't even think about trail braking anymore
I'm on holiday for a fortnight since last Thursday so it's been interesting watching the GT7 world react to the bew physics. As much as I'm enjoying my holiday, I can’t wait to get home!!
This vid popped up on my feed. Two months later I can happily confirm the new physics are wonderful. Anyone who doesn't like it, needs to refine their driving style. More nuance required. ;)
Love this track and i love the new physics. Ive lived in bathurst and driven the mountain many times. The physics is a good improvement, more toward sim than game can only be good, can still be improved especially in the area of road camber
Watched you heading into the chicane and thought "he's going too quick to take the kerb... he'll lose it" and you did. And then I braced for the impact from the following cars...and you ghosted. We mere mortals racing at Mount Panorama (in ACC) would be limping back to the pits for a 2 minute repair session. Along with all the other people we murdered by blocking the track. 😂😂😂
Good racing, I'm on a different format, Forza Motorsport. I love how competitive it is online racing. Hopefully Bathurst features on one of many updates for FM. Great video and commentary 👍
Playing since release the physics feel completely different and are harder to get used to, but I kinda enjoy the extra challenge. Although it acts out sometimes now but it’s all down to the tune. In some cases. Half my cars are un drivable and the other half feel better. Hit or miss. Old car physics are messed up tho
Nice recovery Rory 👌.. i too don't mind the physics. I set a time for B last night in the Porsche, as good a race car as it has been its not normally that quick for a quali time as its too stable.. you can get some rotation under braking and acceleration now. And you can catch power oversteer easier now too. It's not as easy no, but it feels more realistic once you start understanding it, so i like it 👍
@@ITZMitchYT I hit a 51.5 in a few laps in VR so wasn't to bad, hope to get on again end of week. You can't be as harsh with the downshifts anymore it pushes on which can happen. I will try it though..
Magnificent effort after the crash. I'm not sure if I completely like the new physics but it's made the game a real challenge again and something to learn by.
Good job coming back from that first crash! In the lower level lobbies you can count on more crashes during the race to gain positions back, but I'm guessing not so much in the A+ lobby. And although it's so much easier to lose the back end now when coming over the top of the hill, it's been fun trying to adapt and learn how to nail that section!!!
as soon as temperatures get more reasonable I can't wait to try these new physics. I've always felt the weight transfer physics were a bit off. No I'm not a racing driver but I have felt oversteer from weight transfer from rear to front much more than I feel in GT
I hated the physics for a day, readjusted suspension and I'm loving them. If I want to build and drive an oversteery beast I can with almost no issue. Lol
As someone who just got the PS5 and GT7 I don't know how the physics were before so kinda like them, not that it helps me though. Being 5 seconds slower than the best drivers told me I probably won't be playing sport mode anytime soon.
As someone who plays iRacing the new physics are quite fun, but I more than understand the more casual players getting mad as it is quite a learning curve to understand how cars act over non-leveled pavement.
Do you think this is just a case of getting used to it? Or is there a genuine problem? I found by the end of last week I was able to lean on it a bit more with practice and was within a few tenths of pre-update speed. But I can understand that Panorama is tough.
The physics feel like assetto corsa competizione, but without the joypad keys lock ( you drive there way or not at all ~ you can’t change the buttons for acceleration or breaking)
New physics have done me well, feels better over hills, i can actually drive laguna seca now, what I didn't like is how the tyres feel to me now... the RS tyres have their grip but with most my cars now when i lose traction it's nearly impossible to save my vehicle, seems to be more prominent on wide body vehicles, possibly the way i tune them, but when i'm coming out of a turn and onto a straight, whilst I'm speeding up i can feel the car's rear wheels start to overtake the front's and it sends me into a un-save-able amount of wobble or spin. I thought about testing with different tyres front and rear or stiffening my rear anti sway, if anyone has any tips please do let me know, even happens on AWD race cars but I typically use 80R 20F for my diffs.
On your first wreck it looked like you downshifted to 3rd a bit early, which broke the rear wheels loose around that hairy corner where you're trying to slow. Would you disagree?
Noob player here.. I actually found the new physics feel more natural on my wheel, except at the extremes of handling (when understeering and oversteering). I use a Logitech g923. My theory is they might’ve worked really closely with Logitech on this handling update and inadvertently ruined handling on all other wheels. If anyone else is using the same wheel and have noticed the same, sound off please
I have the G923. At first I thought I was now getting less feel out of the whee with the update l. Turned my settings up to 10/6. Now after a week+ I don't even remember what the wheel used to feel like. What I think I like about the feeling after the update is that I get more of the subtleties. Like coming over the top of the hill I can feel the steering get lighter. And similarly, when coming full speed into a steep uphill, I can feel the steering get heavier. Things like that.
@@krishnavutla8452 that’s exactly how I feel. I actually notice the shapes of bumps rather than just feeling a jolt in the wheel. I also turned up my settings.
@@Michael-GT389 he’s referring to the force feedback max torque and sensitivity. You can also adjust it even further using the Logitech hub. I actually have my return spring turned up to 75%, I like stiff steering.
@@Michael-GT389 Before you start a race or Qualifying, go to settings, controller settings. I have my Force Feedback Max Torque set at 10, and Force Feedback sensitivity set to 7 (I moved it up from 6)
When you are not having fun in a game like GT7 you have 3 options: quit, practice or...reset your license. After GT Cup last round I decided to reset my DR license and start all over again in Sports Mode, GT1 is not funny for me anymore, I don't have the time for practice and I discovered that even I can reach DR A level very high and quickly my qualy times are still the same, qualy times of a B driver. Also I don't want to use the meta cars, I want to use the cars that I want, and at least in my case now is the best to race in D, C and low B races to practice and mastering the new physics, it was good to do GT1 races but the fun is over, B driver level is where I belong and my journey will start again in D or C DR with no qualy in Daily Races and if I can master the new physics I'll be back in DR A again but no DR A very high and no A+.
From what I’ve heard from others, definitely seems like many aspects have gone up in realism, or at least an attempt. One thing is the magic of GT was that it was an ‘accessible sim’ (simcade). Granted it was one of the most realistic when first made, but is now outclassed hence simcade. But seeing how they’re really trying to keep up with sim, they’re also going to potentially lose a lot of casual players, who may not even touch online much. I remember GT psp had 2 physics options, simple and advance. At least for offline, they should bring this back, and maybe for online, for player made lobbies. Have the older GT7 or Sport physics and have the more realistic one as well (obviously for e sports and more series sim players).
I'm struggling for traction since the update, where I wasn't before. Need to put traction control on alot more now especially with slower cars weirdly.
It was too easy before i think , the current physics i like because the car will move around on braking and you cannot just plant the throttle on TC1. Just my opinion but i think it is better how it is now ...less arcade but i will say there is some strange snap over steer sometimes ! Overall good update for me .
@dobbo4596 yea I know what you mean. For me, I've litrally just got my first ever steering wheel and cockpit. So was just getting used to it so little set back for me. Just gonna take time to get used to it. But yea the oversteer thing is strange. Still love the game.
@Backbreaker1104 yea its weird how people are finding it different to eachother. Unless it really is car specific. But I'm really struggling with slow cars. GR3 and 4 is fine.
I was finding it feels more accurate and predictable. The turning invisible crap when a crash happens is super lame. Also I should add that it's much easier to brake and clip apexes since the car is going to do what you tell it rather than a vague balling up slide. The window of recovery has shortened but that much closer to real life. Very noticeable with rear heavy cars.
Perhaps it’s because I’m slow (only a B driver) or because I have a belt drive wheel and not a DD (G923) - but I’m not having these extreme problems with the physics - you have to be careful - brake markers are a few yards closer - but so far it’s not as undriveable for me as others are mentioning - it does take longer to warm tyres up and this makes the undercut very difficult - but if this had been the physics when GT7 launched I’m sure we’d have all just got on with the racing….
The things thats annoyed me is we got used to the game for years i even plat trophy the game but then now have to drive completly different and been told to deal with it but all muscle memory has gone out the window and have to brake different cant turn and brake now
Is it just me or the graphics secretly look even better now. And also feel like replay mode had some improvement with fov for sense of speed and that they also included more different angles and static cams
It's funny Rory. I've never noticed until you put that Livery on. But yes, the Supra looks like a turtle its face AKA front of the car with that. Livery
I haven't had much trouble with the handling physics, I'm more upset over the change in tire wear & fuel consumption, I know it's only a problem in those types of races, but like I said, handling hasn't been a problem, just a few minor tweaks, of course I haven't driven all my cars yet
I mean yeah we need to brake sooner, and not hold it through a turn at 100 percent, and we have more under steer but you'll get use to it. The problem is others can't seem to. Sport lobbies were a mess yesterday. Crashing on crashing.
Update for ya’ll. Still a bit new but I’ve had enough time to try the new physics. Seems like the road inputs heavily mask the feeling of the tire. I can no longer feel the tire actually deforming when going into a corner. All I feel is body roll. Once I initiate the turn in, the tire is either gripping solidly or completely understeering. Initiating an oversteer feels almost exactly the same. What do you guys think?
I'm mixed on the new physics, but I also know I'm not a GREAT driver to begin with... I feel almost useless in some car/track combos... cars I used to race in I can almost not control at all now... but some things feel a bit better. It seems more difficult in the license tests, as well, for me.
I thought I was getting the hang of it, until I wasn’t. Car spat me out on straight braking, watched the replay incase I made a genuine mistake, but no. Hopefully those little glitches can be fixed and it will be all the better
The crash made perfect sense. Braking hard going downhill while making transitions, the lightened rear end from nosediving forward gave out....but TheY rUinEd pHysIcS.🤓
Still getting used to the new physics, but I quite like them. My times are a bit slower and some of my favourite cars feel a bit different (some oversteer when they never did and other understeer more), but I am gradually adjusting and am enjoying it. However, I am on the controller and do not play competitively, apart from the time trials. Interesting to see how this has impacted the online community. Btw, very cool car.
its fine. although wayy more understeer like with a weird snap oversteer at the end of the corner. its definitely not bad. very difficult and different though. ive had to changee style esp when it comes to qualifying laps before multiplayer
I agree its more fun and challenging the only thing I hate is how the Ai some how still have traction for instance when racing in the 24 lemans 2 laps fine then it starts raining so I go from hard slicks to all weather tires for the rain but then the Ai is still able to keep up with with me in the rain on hard slicks. weird.
@@radioactivetrees9626that may be your opinion, but unfortunately it neither reflects the situation nor describes Rory's behaviour correctly. Being side by side into a turn means, both have to give each other space and not for one of the two to try to vanish into thin air, because the other wants to turn in. There was no space left on the inside, so the outside car can't turn any further inwards. If it does and there is contact, then that is 100% on the outside car. Sometimes you have to give up a position in order to race cleanly. Especially on lap one of a ten lap race on GT7. There would have been enough time for the BMW driver to reclaim that position, if he's have been fast enough, what he clearly wasn't.
@@moritz1-2 that which you are describing can be can be said about Rory, the one who dive bombed instead of taking him cleanly down into T1. Now, I have been in that situation my self...spinning out and then being overly aggressive with slower traffic. But I don't blame others for my impatience. It's aggressive which leads to accidents...
Rory. You should start playing gran turismo 6 online. I think youd really love the small but respectful community we have. Would be great to see you post some content too!
I jumped on the other night after work and played a few rounds at Spa against Sophy GT on hard. I kept thinking that the Sophy AI spinning me out on certain corners. I was like damn this AI got really aggressive. I switched to 3rd person to see what was going on and yeah I was spinning myself out lol. 😂😂😂
