GT is the best racing game franchise by far

Good news! I figured out who “Bootsy’s friends” are. In the credits of Gran Turismo 4, the very bottom option on the main menu showing the Ford GT and the GT4 logo, if you go to page 12, it shows the credits for that song. In other words, it was written by David Griffin (D-Greasy), Milton “Bino” McAdams, and Bootsy Collins... copyright 2004 Mash-A-Mugg, by arrangement with RipTide music. Oh, and in the other song, “let’s roll” feat D-M.A.U.B, it is written by Bootsy Collins, DonErrick Harper (D-M.A.U.B), and Morris Mingo... same copyright stuff. (Page 14 in credits).

I'm able to recognize more of these songs now that I've played Thunder 04.

(GT3) I’m actually a fan of the repeated events and I wish it was like that in GT4 so you would use a lot more cars. But yeah there should’ve been HP caps.

For some people gt1 and gt2 are virtually the same game, but gt2 is bigger (and same situation with gt3/gt4). For me it is far from what I've expirienced. Gt 1 and 2 have very different feel to driving, it may fall into more or less the same category (they are arcade-sims) but they feel like different games in that regard. In gt1 it's very easy to spin when applying breakes when taking a corner, cars also have way bigger tendency to almost "fly" when driving high speeds on chicane, or just to drive on two wheels when taking corners fast. The arcade (but fun) side of that game is even more emphasized in arcade mode which had different physics than gran tursimo mode. Gt2 on the other hand have way more "stable" control, cars seems to better show their weight, they can still be hard to control but the reasons seems more reasonable. Although still from time to time cars "fly" in unrealistic way, it is way more predictable. Also behind the car camera is improved. GT2 lost much of arcade feel that GT1 had (and both games are great in terms of feeling - they are just different). And then the differences between GT3 and GT4 are even bigger in terms of driving feel. In GT3 cars are VERY easy to control, they also feel extremly sluggish and slow. The sense of speed is hard to catch (better in widescreen), and lower tier cars are painfully slow (in gt1,2 and 4 even slow cars with power around 100/150hp were fun to drive, in gt3 any kind of fun starts at more or less 270hp for the same results). For example Toyota SPRINTER TRUENO GT-APEX is presented in gt3 as one of the most boring and slow cars in the whole game, the very same car in first forza game is a joy to drive as it is fast for it's class. Also in gt3 you can brake very late with good results. GT4 is totally different - cars feel more responsive, they don't appear to be that heavy, slower cars can still be fun to drive, behind the car camera is different too (i don't like it...). In faster cars you HAVE to learn to break way earlier in gt3, and also tires selection now have even more impact on how car feels. In my opinion these games have huge differences in terms of handling (which is crucial in that genre of racing games), although I consider that as a huge advantage - you can really pick a game that will fit to your taste, and also playing others is a different expirience. I personally think that GT2 is the best one (apart from low res graphics) and i found it driving mechanics to be a perfect (for me) mix of arcade and simulation. My least favourite is (but still great) gt3 because of how boring weaker cars are. Sorry for bad english :P

Fantastic video, was just looking for a channel that talked deeply about the GT series! I personally started with GT2 and stopped playing GT when 5 came out since I became a PC gamer, but this series is the one that I miss the most out of my PS library. One day I'll come back to these games. Keep it up dude!

I would argue that the feel of GT2 is very different from the first game in terms of physics, as GT1 is faster paced generally

GT 1 & 2 were a killer app for the original PlayStation and helped launch Sony in to the video game market.

I honestly wouldn't call GT2 as that hard. It's way more on the sim-arcade side of handling models by comparison to later titles and modern racing games. The later titles especially make the racing a lot more difficult thanks to the more realistic handling models. Also a side-note: Having played GT1 as well, I can safely say that GT2 doesn't have the exact same handling model. While it is very much similar, it is definitely far more improved and tighter than the one in GT1. Considering they also added hundreds more cars to GT2, it makes it a pretty damn mindblowing sequel for a PS1 game.

I thought you were a bit too kind with the last two entries in the series. The standard cars in both 5 and 6 were an easy way to keep the games full of content. The graphics were very inconsistent in both games, too.

23:34 i learn that actually car companies can do that. Ferrari won’t allow you to buy any new cars at all. They will allow you to only buy their older used cars because you aren’t known to them and it’s one of those you got to know somebody who owns the said thing in order to be part of the said thing. They still do this tactic to this day as a way to make their cars more exclusive and to see if you actually give a damn to own a ferrari and to get into their good graces you have to participate in events that ferrari ether own or sponsor to get in their good graces. So in truth yes car companies can do this. Only one i am aware of has done exactly that. Could be more for all i know.

I was terrible at all gt games

I have an old computer and i am at the point that i can play games like Grid autosport but can't play any of the Forza games. Gran Turismo is my favorite racing game. And the fact that i have like 6 racing titles and all look nothing like Gran Turismo frustrates me way too much. And while i enjiy racing games. They suck without a wheel. Unlike GT...

The worst Gran Turismo game is the psp version .. I play it cause it works on my smartphone .but it's not a good game ...the driving is awesome .. But the fact that you can't upgrade and sell your cars is awfull ...
