Jeremy Brett's performance as Holmes really rests on those little moments of tenderness or humor he conveys with barely a fletting expression.

In my head-canon, Burke-Watson aged into Hardwicke-canon because of the Hiatus. That's why Burke's Watson looks younger and is a bit more hesitant with his deductions around Holmes while Hardwicke's Watson is more Holmes's equal and is comfortable calling out Holmes on his nonsense. Also, I'm so glad they let Hardwicke get rid of that silly toupe they made him wear in the first couple episodes.

I always thought Granda missed out by not doing "A Study in Scarlett" as the first episode. It's the first Holmes' story, and the BBC _Sherlock_ did it right by having their adaptation start there (even if they missed the mark at the end).

I love the reunion scene from The Empty House, especially after Watson faints and Holmes takes care of him and he's a bit more considerate of Watson and asks him if he's really fit enough to discuss what actually happened at Reichenbach because he gave him such a shock by his overly dramatic reappearance and Watson insists that he's fine and Holmes finally tells what happened. The moment at 1:12 where Holmes attempts to call out to Watson and then stops himself is absolutely heartbreaking, even though it's told in flashback. I also love how Holmes falls asleep on the exam table and says that he's slept on harder beds than this in the past two years and then Watson watches him a bit. I love the moment at 4:26 where Watson says "splendid air!" and you can tell from the way that Holmes is coughing that he's been working himself into the ground again and had to take a break from cases so he could recover.

I love how is he observe john with delicate and passion? I cant get enough from this show, rip to jeremy brett and david burke, alongside with Edward hardwicke #1 john watson, three of them truly legends.

What I love most about them is that David looked like watson while Edward had the personality. While they got along, I don't know if David was friends with Jeremy, but Edward was, but either way, i also love how the trio captured the newly-wed v old married dynamic (which is how i see it).

It's hard for me to watch the rest of this series, because I can't see Hardwicke as Watson alongside Brett as Holmes. I can only see Burke as Watson alongside Brett as Holmes. Yes, both Burke and Hardwicke are great as Watson, but I just prefer Burke.

Sorry, but the recent craziness and fashion of being gay blinds everyone to the fact that for centuries men and women in a Western Europe have been rather separated. Men had their clubs. So naturally men spent more time together. Frequent wars also ensured that men spent a lot of time together, forging strong bonds snd friendships and understanding that had nothing whatsoever to do with sex or being gay. Otherwise the human race would be close to extinction as gay people do mot multiply as heterosexuals do. a historical/social fact that is being synergies in the recent craziness of “gay is normal, heterosexuality is not normal.” You still need a make and a female to produce the next generation.’ No. Watson snd Holmes we’re NOT gay.

Exactly, there are behaviors, which were later misunderstood after O. Wilde, that were very common among men. To "construe" the Holmes/Watson relationship as gay is a false label. They were just close friends, nothing more.

You realise that those men who lived away together in the military did in fact have sex with each other right. In fact in Greece the wives of soldiers would often shave their heads/cut their hair to make the transition to sleeping with a woman for the husbands easier. And as for “they can’t reproduce” my dude it’s literally 2 men not the whole planet. I don’t think humanity will go extinct. We’re fine 😂 Also “the fair sex is your department Watson” - Sherlock “totally straight” Holmes.
