Departing from Ocean Reef at 7:00 AM, we embarked on our journey from Grand Bahama Island to Great Sale Cay. We enjoyed our time at Ocean Reef and will miss all the people there.
As we set sail, we encountered 1-foot waves closely spaced at 2-second intervals, making the journey to the waterway a bit bumpy.
Before entering the Lucayan Waterway, we had to wait for half an hour for a barge to exit before we could proceed.
The waterway has an abandoned feel to it. There are projects that were never completed, hurricane damaged properties and vacant land with a beautiful home thrown in here and there.
Once through the waterway, the sea calmed considerably. By 3:20 PM, we had anchored at Great Sale Cay. We had the anchorage all to ourselves.
The water became as smooth as glass, offering crystal-clear views. We even spotted three rays passing by the bow of the boat and observed some Barracudas while taking our dog Lucy ashore.
It was a serene and beautiful evening at Great Sale.
