It's 1999 and rival gangs are at war across the city: do you work with them to take out the biggest threat or will you work for the Zaibatsu Corporation to maintain their control over people's lives??

Hot Dog Homicide is probably the darkest mission in the series. You kidnap a bus full of innocent civilians, take them to the Russian Mafia meat plant, and watched as they’re stripped naked and forced at gunpoint to walk into the meat grinder as they all scream and cry. Then you take the freshly made hotdogs out and sell them

GTA 2 is a great game honestly. It's a huge improvement over the original game. Graphically I still think it looks pretty awesome even to this day. To this day I still consider GTA III to be literally a 3D version of GTA 2. If you've played GTA 2 and then played GTA 3 in a bubble you will notice what I mean. But GTA 2 gives that being dropped into a Sandbox feel I want out of a GTA game that sadly none of them have achieved since. I don't like grand story's surrounding a premade character...

I also always loved the sorta “fence hopping” mechanic when it came to dealing with the different gangs in this game. Felt like most everything you did had consequences. It’s definitely something I’d like to see refined in a modern game where you’re a more neutral criminal with no clear cut allegiances to anybody. I feel like the closest we got it being replicated was in GTA III, where Claude does do business with all the gangs at one point, but almost all his bridges are burnt by game’s end also.

I wish Anywhere City and its retrofuturistic theme was recreated in some 3D installment of series. This game has unique atmosphere and for that remains my fav in the series. I like Industrial area the best, as it takes that atmosphere up to 11. And yes, 6 heads in this game is BRUTAL. Only one comparable would be GTA3 with how quick military can mow you down with their OP minigun like M16s. As for kill frenzies, never bothered. When you die, it's better to reload save as you lose all your weapons, so extra lives aren't that important IMO.

Thats why i dont like gta 6,to be set in Vice City,we already digested the concept of Vice City in:GTA VC and VCS and also in the original Scarface movie and also there is a Scarface videogame The gta 2 concept is something very misterious and exotic, and difficult to visualise due to the game lack of story and character development I wish Rockstar will make an GTA game set in the HD version of the Anywhere City with a more detalied map and with a much complex story, the retrofuturistic theme would fit for vehicles like Opressor mark II from gta online

Rockstar did an amazing job with further polishing the diamond that they found with the concept of the original GTA. Jak, you summarized it really good: Rockstar's first good choice was making the experience more like a video game and arguably less like real-life (but actually more playable and much less irritating) by adding a health bar, the ability to replay failed missions; and figuring out that finding weapons and power ups should not be such a big deal for the player and thus scattering them aplenty on the map, including always right near the payphones with the missions. Second thing they did brilliantly was making the city feel even more alive that GTA1 did: taxis and buses actually work (and that's regardless if the driver is an NPC or the player), radios have DJs with some personality plus ads for places that actually exist in the game ("Crazy CJ's, home of the Mad Burger. You'll be insane to miss it!" - says perhaps the most memorable one, spoofing the Mad Cows Disease scare of that era... and then you blow the building up). Last but not least: rival gang members who attack each other on sight, car thiefs and pick-pockets not affiliated with any gang do their thing too. If a policeman is nearby he tries to stop them. It really felt like this is a real-life simulator that you can just leave running and things will happen. Like the player is just one small pedestrian that the game in no way cares more about that all the other NPCs. What can I say? Back when it came out, this one young boy (that is now almost middle aged), quickly declared it his favourite game of all-time (dethroning GTA1). It might no longer be, but it still holds a special place in my heart... and on my hard drive, where it stays pretty much permamently since 1999. I just can't front on this title. It was super fun back then and still is fun today.

To be honest, GTA 2 is my favourite in the series. I am much more a fan of the whole "arcade style" way of doing the game, rather than having to endure a story line I may or may not care about at all. Sadly, I doubt we will ever get a proper top-down GTA again ever.... This sort of gameplay also offers much more freedom to the player.

Dude, I’m new to your channel and I have to say, you have of the most authentic, energising and entertaining personalities of anyone I’ve seen making this kind of content. So many people play a kind of character when they’re in front of the camera. There’s nothing wrong with that per se, but it’s so refreshing to see a person cut out the nonsense and speak articulately and passionately about the things they love - and the things that give them the shits! And not to shit on anyone else, but it’s awesome to hear a proper Aussie accent without some kind of weird affectation / exaggeration that some of the more popular Aussie RU-vidrs seem to feel they need to put on. My only regret is not finding you sooner. Keep doing what you’re doing my man, I look forward to coming along for the ride!

I’ve been without my normal medicine for a couple days now. There’s a nationwide shortage. I’ve been calling different pharmacies and there has been no stock of it. Finally a coworker recommended a pharmacy near where she lives. I called them and they said that they had the medicine but it was namebrand only (A.k.a. the OG one that’s patented). I checked on my insurance and it said that I can have The name brand for $90. Normally I pay $30 for a generic brand for one month. I told the pharmacist on the phone that I will have my doctor send in prescription. The pharmacy is 60 miles from me. When I got there the price for a 30 day supply was $300. As I said before I was under the assumption that I would pay $90 for the namebrand. I was pissed but I wasn’t going to whore myself out to a Big Pharma executive. I drove home empty-handed. 60 fucking miles again I’ve been waiting for this video and look forward to watching it. This brighten my day. Thank you Jack!

@3:14 Whenever did a specific year impaired the creative freedom of the devs of GTA in any meaningful way? @6:28 Everything? No. You can find weapons all over the map. Spending money for a save point? That makes no sense. Where is my save house? @6:39 Really? In GTA V single player you can spend money on weapons, gear, vehicle customisations and storage. In GTA 2 You can spend it on "save points" weapons and gear.

We got this game rented from my local Civic Video, or maybe Video Ezy when I was a kid, probably because it was less realistically violent than the 3D GTA games. The main things I remember are killing the Elvises, crushing cars and entering a Kill Frenzy only to ask "who's frenzy and where is he?"

I love this game. Its the only Grand Theft Auto 2D game I own on multiple platforms because I got the GBC version in high school and got the PS1 version a couple of years later. (I jumped from the SNES to the PS2 and it was several months after I got Vice City, which I got a couple of months after I got the PS2. I'll always prefer it to the first game for one simple reason. The first game lacked a Shotgun. Who thought an open world crime game, or any open world game with lots of gun combat for that matter, set in or after the 20th century lacking a SHotgun was ok? And yes I know of some other open world games set in the 20th century or beyond focused on gun combat but lacking SHotguns but that lack is always a strong negative in my opinion of them.

LOL the difference between GTA2 and GTA3 two years later, GTA2 was 'just okay' but GTA3 was mindblowing. It's impossible to think back on GTA2 on its own merits.

I never knew a person who tried to beat GTA2 LOL Me and my friends always used cheats to get all weapons and caused havock and loved the kill frenzy's! At the time, Driver 2 was the better game that we all tried to beat! GTA2 was great 'cause it had weapons and we all wondered if a next driver game would add weapons and being 3D 'cause that would be dope! Fast forward, GTA3 did exactly that LOL

Even crazier that it was bundled in with Moving Shadow mixtape CD's too apparently. Really miss that record label and really miss the relationship they had with R*

Ahh too bad you haven't finished the game - you'd be able to enjoy one of the worst endings in a video game ever. You can find it on youtube if you want. Great game but I remember I was so pissed when I finished it .... Other than that I fully agree, it was an improvement in every aspect compared to GTA1. Maybe besides the art style - I remember the reaction was mixed at the time but I think in the end it aged better. But I'd say the most important improvement is that the GTA 2 actually feels like a game by modern standards - having save feature, navigation, better handling, music, .... GTA 1 in comparison feels really like an arcade

This will mean nothing to non-UK viewers, but the main guy in the 8 minute promotional video is Jack Branning (real name Scott Maslen) from EastEnders (before he became famous). Quite funny seeing him here!

GTA 2 was so much fun to play. I wish there was a remake of it using the GTA 3 - GTA San Andreas engine.

“3 weeks into the future” isn’t literal, it’s just another way of saying “the not-too-distant future”. In this case it’s most likely a reference to Max Headroom and Brazil, which both stated they were set “20 minutes into the future” to make fun of the idea of a “not-too-distant future” actually being very not too distant. So this is a satire of a satire. Very GTA.

I wonder how people actually got through the game. You can't dodge, there's no cover, little health, narrow corridors sometimes, you have to stand and aim. Bloody hell I found GTA 3; VC; and SA hard because of this but at least you could see what's ahead.
