The PSP version looks pretty and detailed but the gameplay of the Nintendo DS version is unique and comfortable

The PSP version is mimicking the atmosphere that GTA IV has and it was absolutely cool.

The psp version just looks like a remastered ds version

Its mad how they fit that all into a ds cartridge for 60mb.

Actually insane how good the DS version looks in terms of how it's a DS game. It looks so smooth and runs quite well compared to many DS games I've seen or played.

The textures and shadows on the ds version are pretty impressive considering the hardware

This game was like a love letter to fans who loved the old top down games

I like the details and the shading of the characters on the DS version. Characters kinda look a bit too lightly shaded on the PSP. more detail on the DS buildings too seem to have more texture and detail PSP looks sharper and I like the light effects on the cars at night on the PSP version. Liberty city stories is the one to get on PSP shame wasn’t a grand theft auto game dedicated to the vita. Man that hand held had so much potential such a shame.

The PSP version is better graphically, but I think the DS version is better in general, the use of the touch-screen in the puzzles is very interesting and the cutscenes used both screens at the same time, the online mode was really cool and when you were signed up for the social club you received missions on the DS version.

Its still crazy to me how much detail and unique mechanics were put into chinatown wars even the story was something fresh and immersive with it's whole buildup I loved playing this game and the soundtrack was great I wish rockstar would remake it again for the switch or even make a sequal the main character was genuinely unique and had a personality that was like a mix of nico and Michael but with asian descent

This is very underrated from the gta series, I played it on my phone and it's pretty good game. (specially for the touch controls)

DS Version to me looks more detailed with the cutscene backgrounds, better way to use the throwables, but PSP at least gave you more radio stations and actually allowed you to play more missions.

DS version looks more consistent. It has a consistent art style and atmosphere. PSP is all over the place, trying to mix in realistic lighting to a game that was meant to be cell shaded, giving it a confused look. The game was built for the DS in mind, so over all, controls and art direction is more appealing even with in the limits of the DS hardware.

rockstar can easily port so many gta games to the switch and this is substantial as to why they should

I personally like the cell shaded look of the DS version NPCs a lot more than the weird swollen 3D models of the PSP version. Same thing for the cars, I feel like you can see the details of the cars more clearly on the DS version

While the PSP version have the IV like atmosphere, I prefer the NDS version for more comfortable gameplay

Simple: NDS version: Amazing Graphics for the console. Really good Gameplay and very smooth. PSP: Better Graphics, worst Gameplay but more missions. I preffer NDS version, the resolution can be shit on the cutscenes. But the colours of the Gameplay are much more beautiful than the PSP version. But it's a really good game on both consoles :)

Huang looks so different in the DS version! I wish the DS version had lyrics in the theme song. But it makes the psp version unique.

the nds version is very technically impressive on top of nailing the aesthetics better than the psp.

I remember when this came out it was the craziest thing. I already had Vice City Stories on my psp so portable GTA wasn't really new to me but GTA on a nintendo console was absolutely unheard of at the time

Why is the PSP version so... yellowish during daytime?

In the PSP version the theme song has the vocals by Ghostface Killah and MF Doom. But in the DS version the theme song is just played instrumental.

One of the best GTA. Rockstar really should release a 2D GTA Collection for PC and current consoles.

Just realized, car door opening/closing sounds, car ignition and tire screech sounds are from Vice City/GTA 2

Ds version is the best imo game was designed for that console.

I remember when the PSP version was released how angry I was because I thought it was going to be a full 3D world remake like the Stories games. I played it once and it really was a great game. An underrated GTA game.

I wished the PSP still has the small cutscene where the car sinks in the first mission of this game

Lighting and shadows looks way more realistic on PSP. Also the hand drawn cutscenes have a higher quality as well.

It's actually really impressive how the Nintendo DS can run Grand Theft Auto games like this, and it also runs smooth! Sure, some things were removed from the PSP version (due to hardware limitations), but we should appreciate the port.

NDS was very cool. I enjoyed it a lot. NDS was a very limited console, i was amazed by the game.

I've played and enjoy both versions. They are very well done. I would ultimately play the PSP more because it has a significant amount of extra content and music.

The only real critique I'd have between the two versions is that Huang in the DS only wears a t-shirt and his jacket while in the PSP, he has his red shirt along with it.

I played this game on the PSP back then when i wad like 6 or 7 years old along with GTA VCS and GTA LCS and it was a great experience until i switched to the Ipad and played GTA SA

I had both versions. I prefer the PSP with extra missions and radio stations but the DS version was very innovative. Too bad you couldn't have a combo of the 2

GTA Chinatown Wars is set in the year of 2009.

I've only ever played this game on PSP, but after watching this video, i really want to play the DS version. Yeah, it doesn't look as detailed as the PSP, but the gameplay really looks cool how it takes advantage of both screens. I'll probably check it out.

Remember the mission when you have to take a couple having six in a car. I was 10 years old.
