This was my grandpa's pickup when I was growing up. About 7 years ago my uncle did a total restoration on this truck.

You are so lucky to have a good family. My grandfather sold his old farm truck for $1,500 after I had told him for years I wanted it & would happily pay for it, even offered him $10,000 at 1 point. Some families just are not as good as others. Have a great day. Patrick

We had a '68 C10. Your grandpa's truck is a lot fancier than was ours -- solid 'forest green' color, slant-six engine, three-speed manual transmission (column shift). It didn't even have a radio. My dad had over-load springs installed so it could carry a full ton of hay. It was a great work truck. I particularly liked taking it to go fishing up in the mountains. While it was only 2-wheel drive, it hardly ever got stuck. Thanks for the memory.

I grew up on a diary farm and we had a pickup like this, but it was greenish/blueish and white. I drove it to haul bales of hay to the cows and to get me to high school. Was a great truck! Glad to see one back on the road.

My uncle still has my grandfather's old side step Chevy. When you were talking about memories, it brought some back to me. My cousin and I would go to Domino's stockyards with my grandfather to the auctions to pick out new calfs. One year we got a pair of twins called Trixie and Dixie. LOL. And they always sold dry roasted peanuts and circus peanuts. Those were some of the best days of our lives. 😊

Carl, what a beautiful truck and restored in the style when your Grandfather was alive. He’s looking down from the heavens knowing that his “ right of passage “ was not short lived. The older C 10’s are the way to go.

What a great story, great truck and nice resto, Carl! My granddad had the short stepside version and I drove it often as a teenager. Loved it so much I bought one in a wrecking yard and rebuilt the motor back in 1990. Drove it for about 10 years and sold it. Still wishing I hadn't! I miss that truck! Billy

I wish we could have kept my Dad's truck - it was a baby blue 1963 GMC 1/2 or 3/4 ton pickup. I can STILL hear the roar of that engine, and I miss it terribly. So Cool Carl. I’m glad “you get it”! I have my Fathers 1978 F150, the only new vehicle my father ever owned. I’m keeping it and driving and restoring it. Seems no one in the family “gets it”. Glad you do. You have a lovely family.

Hi Carl, What a fantastic video. Most of my hand tools belonged to my father, who said buy the best you can and they will last you a lifetime. They are now in their second lifetime and I'm in my sixties so you can imagine how old some of the tools are. Cheers, Huw

Nice looking truck. I bought a 69 in 89, it had a 400 and three on the tree. I converted it to a 4x4 with a 4 speed on the floor, disassembled the entire truck and painted it midnight blue. Had the truck restored for a year and was hit head on by a drunk driver, had to replace the right front fender and the frame, but still have it, the only problem is that it rips motor mounts in two, have to bolt them together one of these days.

My Uncle had a c-10, 1970 model, same color. But it has been modified before he got it. The owner before used it get people unstuck at Panama city beach. It had gumball murders and a ton and a half four speed transmission. I bought it from my Grandfather after my Uncle passed away. And then I sold to someone else. It was a beast.

thats cool! i had a '70 same color, except mine didnt have the white stripe on the bottom, and it was a 3 speed manual. glad you all are keepin that in the family. nice keepsake. youll get lots of tempting offers, as those are desired classics, but dont let it go!

The first new vehicle i ever bought, '69 C-10 Deluxe (what the deluxe was I never figured out. Same color, same interior. loved that truck. only my first born caused me to sell it (car seat issues). Very nostalgic, enjoy!

Hi Carl. Happy New Year. Great Truck and a fantastic story to go with it. I love the engine compartment. Not to many extras to get in the way. I had a 350 in a full size Chevy van. I had a 72 Chevy PU short bed with a six in it and a granny gear. That thing would pull your front teeth out. Those years were some of the best trucks Chevy made. I miss the truck all the time.
