Irene was a wonderful actress. A cantankerous and ornery mother-in-law could have been an unlikeable character but Irene brought a balance of warmth and sensitivity that made the Granny character the beloved matriarch of her family. A great bit of acting by Irene Ryan.

It's interesting that you uploaded this video clip. I just got done watching an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies that was streamed live on Dave Sundstrum's channel. It's part of his Watch Night series. I had also watched a clip from an episode of the Hollywood Palace which was hosted by Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Irene Ryan appeared wearing her Granny costume and sang I'm a Woman. Then I watch this clip. I loved The Beverly Hillbillies.

Good ol’ clean, but hilarious TV. Some acceptable shows now, but few and far between.
