Chelseas always fit so big and that’s especially challenging since you can’t lace them tighter- I’m a 10 on Brannock device but normally wear 11s in sneakers but have no idea what I’d buy in these. As I get older, I’ve been putting gel inserts that offset the larger size difference so that adds another factor to complicate sizing. Great video as always by the way!
Sounds like we have similar feet. I got these in a 9.5 and still had to drop in a footbed. It seems like I have to keep insoles of varying thickness around these days.
Hey, everyone who is looking to get the right size grant stone chelsea boot the first time. I will say I just got mine today in the mail and absolutely love them. One other thing is if you're looking for quality realise, you will probably have to spend a little more than expected. Alright, straight to sizing. I did a ton of research and expected I would have to send them back, but they are the perfect size, and I never found my true foot size. So I still wear a half size up in sneakers. I prefer wearing a 10.5 in sneakers, so I have extra room when my feet swell from running. Sneakers almost always go a half size up from true to size just by desine. Grant stone sizes are a half size down from true to size for their boots. Chelsea also run a little large, so it's safe to go an extra half size down. I could also tell that my foot was a width size D. Okay, so from all that. I start at 10.5 and go down a half size(cuz I always add a half size to my running shoes). Then I go another half size down(cuz sneakers are a half size up from true to size). I now have my true size as a 9.5D. Now based of grant stone sizing I go down another half size(cuz their boots are a half size down from true size)(this is where I would stop if I got a regular boot from them)(their dress shoes might differ). Since chelsea boots run a little large(cuz they don't have lacing), I decided to go another half size down. So I went from a 10.5 sneaker to 8.5D for the grant stone chelseas. I expected to have to send them back, but they fit like a dream. Honestly, the best boots on the market atm. Through my extensive research, I found that all other boots had some type of problem with them. Have it be the quality of the material all the way to a company not accepting returns. Grant stone seems to be the Victor. I even considered RM Williams, but I saw that since a new company took over years ago, they started using cheaper materials and raised the price(still not a bad quality boot). I just heard that they are not worth the money. Grant Stone is the only boot company I could not find a single problem with. If this helps, please up-vote it so others can see.
Thinking of getting the Edward in this leather. Thanks for the video ,nice to see the leather in the wild. I have a pair of Diesels and two Brass and 1/2 size down works for me, I have all E widths but think I could go D in all the boots I have but I don’t like them tight. I note Dale at Dale’s Leather Works has talked with the Grant Stone folks and lots of people can go even a further 1\2 down in length and then go up a size in width and he said that worked perfect for him when he tried it. Enjoy your boots, would love to see them after some wear. Hope you have time for an update. Thanks again.
@@StrayReviews I have been more than pleased with all my Grant Stones. They are great boots if you don’t need a PNW build. Great materials for the price and excellent quality control and customer service.
I'm size 10D on my Brannock as well. I wear 9.5D on my Red Wings and Grant Stones. But for Chelsea pull-up boots, I usually go for half size or 1 size down.
Almost got these, but I chickened out and got the Edward instead. Still want a pair of Chelseas though. I have been eyeing some interesting leathers in the meermin version
@@luisdesantis6035 no I got the waxed tobacco. When I first unboxed them didn’t love them, but about 6 weeks of wear they are really coming alive. The more I wear them the better they look. Pretty comfortable. Biggest thing is sizing, this was my first pair of Grant stones. So as long as you know your proper size you should love em
Rough out suede, gets better with age and wearing, although i don't have Chelsea in them I've a pair of Crockett and Jones Coniston. More durable than people think, just a brush with a stiff suede brush after wearing, C and J recommend a coat of dubbin regularly, I've only done my once, as i like the patina look.
I have the grant stone Chelsea boots in a tan suede during a sale. I picked up some dirt on them and the tan color muted a bit but no so much. I went with my regular size in d width & it kind of roomy at the toe. The leather insole is not quite broken in yet unlike my travel storm suede loafer but hopefully with a few more steps they be as good.
Another great informative video, thanks. How does the fit compare to your Diesels? I like the Leo last because it’s snug in the heel and instep and gets wider at the ball of the foot. Does the UK last do the same?
Thanks Darren! This is a roomier last than the Diesels are built on (similarly snug in the same places but bigger). In fact, I may have even been able to go a full size down. Also, for what it's worth, this leather is going to take longer to break in than the Chromexcel used to make my Diesels. I hope that helps!
Thanks Jonathan! The Dukes are great boots. I really like mine. They're much less expensive than the Grant Stones, and that shows in the materials. However, they're very comfortable, look great, and have a high wearability factor.
Hi, I’m a subscriber to your channel. I appreciate your reviews & I learn a lot from your perspective. I also share your love for Grant Stone. However, I hope that you don’t mind me correcting your pronunciation of Xiamen. It’s pronounced ‘shyah-men’. Please take this in good faith. Respectfully, B.
