Grass scares most anglers...which means less pressured water. It used to scare me too. Now, I look for the most overgrown ponds to fish and it pays off.
Great video Tyler and great tips. I am in South Florida and it is normal for the ponds to get weeded out so this is good to see. Have an awesome day bud!
Texas rigged worm or creature, skin hooked, i fish almost entirely in heavily overgrown ponds, because most people are put off by the excessive vegetation so the fish are not pressured and they get big, ive pulled 7lb bass out of ponds that are 100% grass almost and tiny, more like a puddle lol
Now you're talking my language, thick grass and pads, I love that stuff, I'm usually fishing frogs, both top water and swimming, weightless Senkos, and Paddle-tail swimbaits. This year I plan to do more punching those mats.
Yeah, Maple Lake MN is the same..those damn pike. Either braid or a steel leader. If not, you’re losing a lure. Hook-gets tight-then BOOM..gone haha! Strike king chatter bait is money! And a black frog! Learned so much fishing in Minnesota! Awesome video! B-Roll was awesome!
Underwater cover not structure but you're dead right. I always say I love fishing deep but if there's grass just go fishing it that's where they are at.
Yeah man I caught a 9 lb bass yesterday and pulled in probably 3 lbs of grass around her too had to clear all the grass to even see the fish and she was 9lbs thats a lot of grass. Grass = Bass!
Bass were in thick weeds/grass shallow in the lake here the other day. They are in prespawn/spawn mode. I swung and missed on a 5 pounder with a spinner bait right by the boat. I was wondering what else would work. I think i'm going to try the punching rig tomorrow. They are in there and hungry!
Tyler why do we always have dislikes😂😂😂 how can you thumbs down this video, or any of #tylersreelfishing lit 🔥 vids. I needed to see this before I went to ochobee.... Lol not one fish. No largies and no peacocks😭😭 I laughed as I realised that Roland Martin was watching me throw a frog with no results.😂😂😂 Rookies...😂😂😂
Sadly we have no grass where I live. Our fish and game have destroyed our beautiful AMAZING fisheries bc they sprayed all the hydrilla. And there’s only lily pads and a few dead clumps of hydrilla. Sad.
Helpful video! We are also trying to help people catch more fish! Check out our channel to see catfish noodling, sight casting for gar and pounding some flounder.
Even if it's a pike I'd be happy to catch it 😊 as long as it's not a carp if I caught a carp won't be happy. Typically any other fish sure never caught a crappie fish but I'd even be happy 😊 with a crappie fish. Crappie are beautiful 🐟 fish
I've used so many baits ina lake I fish in winter no luck at all and its infested with grass. Where and what should I use for seasons should I use. Sorry I suck at explaining
Tyler I've been learning alot of from you recently, I just started fishing 2 months ago and I'm already catch great fish. My issue I still struggle with in grass is know whether my bait is caught on grass or if it was a bite. And often don't set the hook when I feel tension because I want the jig to get through the grass if it's not a fish.
Being Canadian I love this dude. *he hit that on the inside eh! There you go baby, heck yah dude!* I'm glad our lingo is making its way into the USA lol
I use a texas rig setup with a steel weight. All the stores near me are sold out of tungsten weights…. Anyway my problem is the bullet weight is a magnet for weeds and grass. The weight snags Everything! Just annoying.
I do well on a whopper plopper fishing parallel to clumps of weeds and the bank even in some extremely weedy ponds as long as the top of the weeds are an inch or two below the surface
You are so likable and easy to listen to. I am fishing a pond that has tons of grass and is shallow. I’m not sure what kind of weight, how much weight, and what to use as bait. I’m in Northern California and there are so many kinds of fish, bass included. Next to it is the river which moves fast, is shallow with a lot of seaweed grass. I can’t figure out what to use there either. Both are challenging with getting stuck. I do use a frog, but haven’t had any luck. Suggestions? Maybe a photo of something. All these names of bait and knots and hooks and lures. My head spins. I would really appreciate a show and tell. Haha! Thank you so much for your video. I feel like I went fishing with you. That is how you can know you did a good job. Your very personable.
So question I live in Plantersville, Texas & fish at Lake Hollyhill the water is like right close to the line of murky/clear and there is not alot of grass on the surface of the water it's mainly on the bottom and it pretty much is all over it's not very deep how do I fish in that and what lure should I use?
So i have this pond in my local park in pa and it has grass all the way up to the surface of the water there is no place that has open water its all heavy grass i throw a texas rigged craw with a bullet weight and i have 0 issue with getting caught in the grass but i get no bites ever, and im 95% sure it has nothing to do with my retrieve, colors, technique... what do i do in the most dense weeds you could possibly fish in
Love your videos also we share the same name lol anyways I had a question is there a way or could you make a video on like how to tell if there’s fish in a certain body of water best way I can explain is I was fishing in a pond like 70% grass from bank but just can’t tell if it’s worth fishing because I can’t tell if there’s even fish in it is there a way I could tell rather then just waste my time? I’m using a 2 and a half inch frog like the one you showed in the beginning the pond I like to call it is not huge like the one in your video but not maybe rough guess at least a football field across thanks in advance
I guess after fishing for the past 12 years, I kind of have an intuition as to whether a body of water is worth fishing or not, but sometimes even I am wrong. The only sure fire way is to fish it a few times and give it your best try!
@@TylersReelFishing thanks I love way upstate New York like ST.Lawrence river by cornwall anyways I do a lot of bank fishing and lately there’s nothing but seaweed and underwater plants any spoon or spinner I use I’m just pulling up weeds I do have a top water frog but unfortunately either I have not mastered the action or just unlucky on strikes I definitely try my best and I watch a lot of your videos I enjoy your content and look up to you as a fisherman thanks for taking the time to reply
Just now watching this video and I’m pretty sure I’m the one that DM-ed you a year ago about this grassy pond that’s loaded with over 6 pounders. I couldn’t find it in my Instagram DM’s but I know I messaged you about it around then and have messaged you many times after that. Thanks for always answering the DM’s and helping me with specific advice or questions. They’ve all been spot on.
