Are you all kidding me? This is why I love the Dead and went to so many shows~ It was raw and you felt like you were trying to make it work as much as they were! The fact they struggled at times made the payoff so much more exhilarating!

Great sound, tapers had it together no doubt! Love how they had their game and their place on the floor back from the front (but not too far back)!! I was never disciplined enough to get my taping game together but I made sure to keep in touch with at least a few that did and oh what a blessing!

I grew up outside of Hartford too. The old Hartford Civic Center ALWAYS had great shows along with hockey games and other events. There were at least 12-15 concerts a month, and every Spring you could count on at least a two night Grateful Dead stop. Not to mention multi date stops by U2, Huey Lewis and the News, Genesis, CSN, and everyone else. So much fun....and a pre concert burger at the two story Wendy’s in the mall. Great times.

Got a room at the downtown Holiday Inn. My friends parents called for "company" reservations. We were surprised when we came back from breakfast that housekeeping had been there. Bong wiped clean, everything neatly arraigned. I found head of housekeeping. I spoke to the lady who cleaned our room. I slipped her a $20 but publicly thanked her for dealing with the mess we had made. Later we were arrainging for a cab to take us to the show. Apparently we became " The Crazy Tipping Whiteboys". We also placed our food order for later. We called from the CC and everything was in progress. Great shows!

There will never be a time that will replace the memories from 1985 to 1990 on the road following touring and eating pizza in Madison square garden with Jerry Garcia Phil lesh and Bob weir after we snuck into the coliseum we were the RFK sneaking crew and we gained a nariety of being able to scale the hardest buildings across the east and west coast of coliseums and now I take great pride.... I am now the inventor of the zrunner self rescue system for people that work at height needing a work placement mechanical device along the rope from a high point anchor point securing them from high angle scenarios at height. #Zrunner

I once made a bet for a solid 50 dollar bill @@staggerlee4979 that more people knew Garcia than Taylor Swift. Think about it. That's a bet. Was at a music gathering family friendly diverse local music. So I started asking with my friend who I made the bet with beside me. all night. for hours I asked, "Do you know who Jerry Garcia is?" yes." Do you know who Taylor Swift is?" yes. I asked grandmas and crazy people and everyone between. and finally end of the night I was up by one... one more person knew Garcia than Taylor Swift and my friend got desperate and called a little kid over--- he actually walked over to us-- brave kid, maybe 8 maybe and he asked him "Do you know who Taylor Swift is?" no... all snotty. He even led him--- shes a blonde girl who plays guitar, you have older sisters, kid?---- I was like jesus stop don't scare him. Then it was my turn "hey kid, you know who Jerry Garcia is?" and he said yes... all snotty. And I said, "no you don't" he said "YES I DO" then I saw his folk walking up-- like straight people---- and realized I better stop bugging their kid but I had to ask, "Alright then who is he?" the kid said "he's a famous singer" I said "a singer?" he said yeah/ he sings in a band called the Dead. boom dude 50 bucks richer and I told that kid, you nailed it. don't ever forget he was one of the best singers ever. a real crooner. and he said "okay" all snotty. huh

@CairnTerrier69

Never got why people hate that song. Granted it’s not one of their best, but I can pick entire albums of material from other artists that are bigger stinkers.
@newusernamehere4772
@newusernamehere4772 3 года назад
@@CairnTerrier69 Hippies followed the Dead and sold drugs so they'd never have to get a job, Jerry gave an interview in 74 where he talked about never wanting to "be someone" and scamming to avoid getting a job, sleeping in movie theaters and on park benches and whatnot. Some people saw "Day Job" as hypocritical, others saw it as character development. It may have been a little bit of both, but it undoubtedly was coming from a good place. The Dead cared about their fans, otherwise they wouldn't have been encouraging them to spend time not following them around because who cares if people buy tickets by selling drugs? Also I think part of the point of the song was to roast the fans so the ones that got mad about it just made it that much funnier. Something about being committed to a hippie "image" is oxymoronic to the point of hilarity
