It really is. Ive listened to it so many times and I still can get lost in it every time. At one point it was so bad I knew dates just from hearing versions, or the date of one where Bobby literally plays like 3 notes that are so well timed that 5 seconds was the main reason I listened to that version lol. I guess the best I can put it is it really does just take me to another place. 👍✌
@@Karmakatt6 dont get it twisted, the same entity that flooded harlem with heroin in the 30s 40s 50s and south central with crack in the 80s 90s and is currently making sure every highschool kid across america knows what percs and xanys are...and has access to, at the very least, fake ones pressed outs fentanyl...is the same entity that introduced heroin and coke to the dead....its the same one that turned the consciousness expansion/enlightenment/clinical therapy for mental health issues which was beginning to change western culture and revolutionize it into something that was focused on peace and self knowledge/improvement that was exploding in the early to mid 60s...into a rock n roll party scene. unfortunately the dead helped them with that...but, as was and still is (i believe) their wont, the dead did the exact opposite of what everyone else who was being used for this purpose did...they used the rock n roll party scene as a way to preserve the core of (at least some) of the ideals that almost ended americas participation in the nee world orders military agenda. i think that jerry knew what the deal was, and felt guilty because all these kids going to shows and dropping acid because of them, were lookin up to him as though he was leading the rebel order so to speak...when in fact he had sold out to the very people those kids thought going to a dead show was a rebellion against when in fact the dead show was there creation. jerry knew the dead were compromised, but couldn’t tell anyone why they compromised cause that would meant the end for them...and certainly his very very premature death...he was stuck being forced to do something he didnt want to do which involved misleading the very people who worshipped him and not only that, he couldn’t even tell the people who knew they sold out, what they were doing to help preserve the thing their sellout was intended to destroy. he had to accept a lot of his peers wouldnt understand...they would just see rock n roll and drugs with no cultural evolution. so again, he had the kids he made a deal to deceive worshiping him as a leader make the last rebel stand against the people he made a deal with. he had to deal with the people trying to evolve western culture that weren’t able to see the reasons for the deal or what was being done on the sly seeing him as a corporate american sell out cashing in on the novelty factor just like the tourist busses in tue haight back in the mid 60s...and he felt guilty and misunderstood as well as being very literally gagged and unable to tell anyone the truth. if you arent picking up what im putting down...think about bobby weir hanging out at bohemian grove and think about all the cypher punks from the 70s and 80s in the bay area who are now building out the new world orders digital financial slavery system. ask yourself if people who were so anti authoritarian it was just an innate part of them they couldn’t help really could just one say wake up and say “yeah fuck it man why was i so uptight about this control thing and why did i care about personal freedom so much anyways its kinda dumb...ya know what im gonna do, im gonna make it up to the guys at the top of that pyramid. im gonna see if i cant make ammends to them somehow and maybe even be forgiven and accepted into their fold.” can you imagine the kid who was schooled in the ways of the prankster by cowboy neal himself, while dude crashed in his bedroom with him, joining the bohemian grove and getting all chummy with the richard nixons and dick cheneys of the world unless he had good cause and was trying to do something...not for them but for the individual? can you picture the hackers who hated the mic so much that even after they were arrested and basically told your life is over you work for us from now on and walk the streets of america otherwise a free person or you go in a cia controlled hole in some third world hell, continuing to write and release encryption code that could protect individuals from the surveillance systems they were building for the govt...can you imagine these people waking up one day just feeling sick to their stomach with guilt over this that they decided to make it up to the man by building out a financial system that once fully incorporated into their surveillance system will make individual liberty a thing of the past??? no well then ask yourself why these very people would be doing these very things and also understand that jerry just wanted to play guitar this whole future of the human race and biblical fight between the forces of good and evil were just a bit too much for him...and he found in heroin what every junky finds...a way to boil all life’s problems down and condense them into one problem...the only problem you have when your on heroin. getting well.
Was at this and the other capital shows in 77 - was just great seeing the Dead in these smaller theaters like Passaic or the Palladium. Was lucky enough to see 8 Dead shows and Garcia 4 times in 1977 - last Dead show I went to that year was Englishtown.
A friend of my husband absolutely hated this song, called it "Terrible Station." But we two loved it. We joked about it, sang "Terrible Station" during the chorus. Oh well. Both my husband and his friend are gone now, but this song brings back memories, sweet and sad.
Oh! We need Jerry in todays world!! So glad we all have endless music from him. Love everyone and treat everyone equal and in my eyes it will make this world a better place..peace n love who ever reads this! Good vibes ✌😎
I was lucky enough to see them at the very beginning of this tour in New York. Terrapin had not even been released yet.... They opened with Estimated Prophet... No one had ever even heard it yet.... Amazing stuff !
Thankyou for uploading this hands down my favorite version and there was another video but it got taken down for some reason so from the bottom of my heart Thankyou💜💙❤️💚⚡️
It's so cool to see when he was more dynamic and involved on stage. His playing was almost always on point, but he just looks healthy and engaged. I think this was before he discovered heroin.
Ohh my god, thank you “Wolfgang” this made me weep, to see Jerry in such ecstatic joy-this is why I have been obsessed for forty years. If you get it, you REALLY get it! #spiritualexperience😂
"The storyteller makes no choice soon you will not hear his voice his job is to shed light and not to master Since the end is never told we pay the teller off in gold in hopes he will come back but he cannot be bought or sold." xxxooo
Sang this song and told his story so many years hard to believe it all takes place In the present 2021! Heading to the fifth dimension with infinite love and light! See you all there!
Maybe at a large mainstream scale but there are tons of great live acts out there u just gotta go out and experience. I remember about a year ago walking out of a pretty famous country music artists show who i won’t name but was very disappointed with with my experience. Went down the block for some pizza and watched a 3 piece jazz band busking on the street that blew my mind. It really painted the picture for me. Fame has nothing to do with talent anymore, doesn’t mean talent isn’t out there
Hey man if you have an audience recording of this show I'd love to hear it! I have been wanting an audience recording of this particular show for years now! Lemme know!
Not sure how to upload. The recording I have was transferred from bootleg record to a number of 35 year old cassettes. The bootleg record featured cuts from 4/27/77 and Fillmore East. Neither show is complete.
This was what three months before the album came out so the audience is probably like what’s this? Haha Jerry is digging it though. I love it. Phil said of the album version that Keith Olsen produced was “ a classic case of Gilding the Lilly”.
Frank Camiola I love the studio version also except there's one section that sounds like the intro to the afternoon TV movie. I think that's the part where Olsen deleted a Mickey section and put in strings. Jerry said it made him mad.
I have listen to this song hundreds of times over the past year throughout my spiritual awakening. I’ve always been a dead fan and can remember the first memories of my Vibrations increasing the first time I heard Jerry sing for I am Jerry Jerry is me we are the same soul fragmentation! Lol hard to believe however I have vivid memories of many shows and/or experiences and I’m a 43-year-old single father. In any case this and many other songs are literally a prophecy and/or a book written in the past about the future taking place in the present moment as we move into the fifth dimension loving like to all the dead heads out there🙏🙌🏻❤️🌈🌈🌈😇
Obviously one of their finest periods. However, it's bittersweet cuz this is also a period during which he aged like 10 years in 18 months (appearance-wise anyway). Still shocking for me to see late '78 Jerry in relation to spring '77 Jerry.
@@fcamiola Yeah my guess is heroin and cocaine. I think if he had a honeymoon with heroin it was '74-'76. It seems that '77 is when it turned on him. That's just my guess though, based on what I've read/seen/heard.
