Join me on a classic gravel ride in the Peak District starting from Cromford Wharf. We venture out on the canal and meet the High Peak Trail at the bottom of the incline where we begin our route, to the end of this trail. From there, we cross over to the Monsal Trail via some quiet roads and wonderful gravel tracks. We stay on the Monsal Trail to Coombs Road where again, we find a gravel road which takes us down to Rowsley. Once there, we pick up the WPL/ National Cycle Route down to Matlock. This cycle track is a fantastic alternative to the busy A6, which runs parallel. Arriving in Matlock , we pick up the the A6 back to Cromford.
This fantastic ride takes in the best of the local limestone scenery and is graded as an intermediate ride because of the gravel tracks and climbing. Tyres larger than 30mm would certainly make this easier.
