I'd much rather pay you all this money the University is getting because you actually teach. I learn more in a 10 min video than I do in an hour lecture. Thank you for your dedication to making such informative videos.
I was misdiagnosed with Graves disease and was at the point of thyroid removal and a lifetime of maintenance medication. Found an article by 2 MDs at the Texas Heart Institute entitled Misdiagnosis of Graves Disease Due to Aspartame Poisoning. I started reading labels and removed aspartame from my diet (it's in everything "diet") and symptoms completely disappeared within 60 days.
I dont know how this is connected but I have Graves disease and interestingly Aspartame makes me very sick. Its like the body expect sugar and amps up metabolism and when it doesn't get any it crashes. I avoid all fake and most real sugars and do a lot better.
@@esmeraldaarellano8546 I don't think you'll regret it. Finally after 3 + years of dealing with Graves - I finally have some "normalcy". But, I had graves then did the radiation, after that I got hypothyroidism, then back to hyperthyroidism. I'm currently 5 months off of any thyroid meds ... I've gained a little weight & my hair is growing like crazy! No eye bulge and I can't feel my thyroid almost choking me anymore.
I had my hyperthyroid abd I had the storm as they call it but I have been putting this off now it's this Thursday in afraid of getting my eyes decompression
I have Graves, I was diagnosed with it when I was 17. I was extremely hyperthyroid (meaning my thyroid was working too fast).. on heart pills, throwing up everyday, severe anxiety, shakes and tremors, extreme weight loss, ect.. I had it all! I did many treatments of radioactive iodine to kill the thyroid hormones.. Lost a lot of my hair during the process. Finally after a couple years of treatments I'm no longer hyper, now I am hypothyroid (hypo. meaning too slow). However I am now 24 and I am still suffering, not as bad as once was, but I'm still not healthy. I just pray they can figure out the right amounts of medications to give me so I can live a "normal" life! A lot of people don't realise that your thyroid controls almost every part of your body.. even your brain! Its a serious thing.
same here!! got diagnosed with graves at 13, didn't want to do surgery or radiation. i went plant-based and was in complete remission a couple years later. i get my thyroid checked every year and haven't had any problem since
I’ve had Graves’ disease for ten years now and I’ve never had it explained to me this well. My weight goes up and down but only when I first had it did I lose a tremendous amount of weight. I’m still struggling with the hyperthyroidism. I’ve had a lot going on to slow down my treatment.
@@biizzlle hi! I’ve also been feeling better with the treatment..my doctor told me to start evaluating those options but that there is no rush yet..www.ihavegraves.com/graves-disease-now-what/ I found this blog maybe it can help you as well, she chose RAI treatment
This was really helpful to help me revise concisely, so thank you. I just wanted to mention that among the complications of Graves, you shouldn't forget to include thyroid storm, which is an important complication to keep in mind as it is life-threatening.
There is no single video of yours, I have seen so far where I felt you did not do full justice. You are an excellent teacher, thank you for making your videos available for free on RU-vid. Best Regards
VERY VERY informative. I have a severe case of Graves Disease. I also just went thru a Thyroid Storm a couple weeks ago. I’m VERY lucky and blessed. Very few people make it thru and die. It was a horrible ordeal. My Endo told me I would not have survived had I waited a day or two before calling called the ambulance. I’m going to have a total thyroidectomy the middle of next month. I could use some positive vibes. I’m so scared. ♥️
Hello, I might have the same thing right now, can you help me do the right moves? Cause I don't know the seriouness of the sitiuation. IF its ADHD + Hashimoto or This Grave's thing. And people are not helpfull in Greece. Can't understand the the urgency. i had blood spilling and near fainting, but they don't understand, since its not other staff like cancer its not serious.
I was just diagnosed with this today. I'm in desperate need of hope. I'm tired I just beat cancer in aug of 2019 my body is exhausted I feel like. Thank you for this video.
Great timing for me :) Currently in the middle of our Endocrinology unit in PA school, and I'd much rather look at your video with active drawing/explanations rather than reading 200+ PowerPoint slides over Grave's alone. Great job as usual :) ♡ But, I have just a few comments (only to help!). First, the ocular finding is called exophthalmos, meaning protrusion of the eyes. Second, onycholysis is actually the lifting up of the lateral edges of the nail from the nail bed. Essentially, the nail is "coming off" haha. That's all though, and you did an amazing job!! Just wanted to clarify some things so others would not be confused :) ♡♡
♥♥♥Thank you very much for your channel. I just found out that I have Hypothyroidism. It all makes sense now, why have I felt like trash this past year. I was lucky that my hair didn't fall out, but the other symptoms were spot on. I just subscribed; and I'm really looking forward to learning more about this and finding out how to balance myself. There's no more mystery to hypothyroidism. We now know how to deal with it. And thousands of people like you are proof of that. Click here for more information : tinyurl.com/yyycc6rd?HUgio4 > ♠♠♠
I got diagnosed with graves disease today. I was so sick starting a month ago. Went to ER 3 times and finally they discovered I have hyperthyroidism due to graves disease. I have hair loss, nausea, diarrhea, hand and leg tremor, enlarged thyroid, clear watery eye discharge, headache, vomiting, weight loss, always hot, and heart rate of 120~125 along with irregular heartbeat. This is extremely hard on me and I'm suffering so badly. Starting my meds tomorrow.
I have Graves Disease and had been taking Tapazole and Beta blockers for more than a year. I had all these symptoms (CHF, elephantitis, bulging and swollen eyes, and tremors). I also have toxic multi-nodular goiter and distended jugular vein. My endocrinologist suggested surgery but my T4 has not reached normal level (10.000-20.000) and goes up to 30. down to 1.0 level. Thank you for the video it made me understand clearly what needs to be done medically.
I had Graves Disease it’s an ugly disease .. but God and my Doctors had my back I’m cancer free and Graves’ disease is gonna I had a full thyrodectimy June 2019
2019 survivor! Best advice I could give any one is to change your diet.... Please go watch "what the health" on Netflix! That along with other people's stories on RU-vid saved my life... I thank God for the knowledge on RU-vid!!
@@anartact Please watch this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0O8PW43Clb0.html along with letting meat and junk food go! Go on a plant based diet and drink water only with taking this natural medicine I have attached in the message above. It works only if you work it!!!!! Also eat 1 clove piece of garlic with a shot glass of Apple cider vinegar once a day. Make sure the Apple cider vinegar is unfiltered and has "the mother" on the bottle because that is the most natural organic one, it's made by Braggs. Do this on a plant based diet for at least 3 months and I promise you will see a difference.
@@naturalkinkycurlymarie7496 I'm telling you what worked for me! She asked me what I did and I just explained everything in detail. There was a lady on "What the Health" Netflix, who had Thyroid cancer and refused to get hers removed, so she changed her diet completely and went on a plant based diets, few months later, cancer gone! Its all about what we put in our body! But some people refuse to believe that, they trust these money hungry docs who just wanna push meds💊. When I changed my diet, 3months in my T3 T4 and TSH levels went back to normal and this was after being on stupid meds for a year.
As a sufferer of Graves radioactive iodine is going to be the safest treatment I think they call it ablative surgery. Having a doctor physically cutting it out is extremely dangerous because they can accidentally cut out other important glands due to them being close together I think one envelopes the other.
Oh god i was diagnosed by graves disease..every time i got heavy work i have fast heart rate my..heart really sò hurt😢😢😢.I'm 33 yrs old what happen to me after many years..I'm only a house maid worker in abu dhabi..what happen to my life ..ofw from Philippines 😢😢😢😢
Wowww this is awesome . Drawing while you teach is helping me to understand all of this . Thank you so much . Please keep making this kind of video !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was brilliant. It has just helped me diagnose myself with graves dermopathy on one of my feet when the dr has been trying different creams for the past 9 months, not knowing what it is. Thank you so much.
My sister was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism during routine blood investigation and was started on Tab thyronorm 5 mg daily. We do not want to continue this medicine for lifelong as she was very younger. One day she was surfing for the internet and got to know about Planet Ayurveda. She opened the site, online ordered 'Hyperthyroid care pack' and used it for 3 months. She has much improvement now.
Great info in this video! If at all possible, one that discusses what is likely to occur to the course of associated ophthalmopathy post total thyroidectomy, would be extraordinarily helpful.
Paranoia, constipation, hair lost, always right disease and no cooperation brain fog lots of yelling and screaming in the mornings are just awful wanting to fight syndrome. I feel so sorry for my xwife. 42 years old.
I had lumps all over my throat. You couldn't see them but If I placed my hand on like my throat and like behind my jaw line I could always feel the huge lumps, I'm sure was an infected thyroid. I started using baking soda toothpaste and mouthwash. All the lumps disappeared. I used Hydrogen peroxide too, but rarely like once a month. I felt much healthier too.
I know of a doctor who can help you get rid of it permanently he also help me get rid of mine with the help of his herbs he can also help you get rid yours if you also need his help I can link you up with him kindly send me your WhatsApp number if you don’t have WhatsApp you can kindly send me your email address so I can forward it to the doctor or contact his email dr.osemuahuherbs@gmail.com
Very helpful and understandable teaching Sir.. Thanks be to God I found your videos.. you delivered it so clear that will help your viewers to understand from pathophysiology, dse and Tx.
I test positive for hoshimotos and graves with tsh of 0.0002. No pituitary growths, toxic nodules or cancer. How is it possible to have only symptoms of hypOthyroid? ie: Low to normal blood pressure and heart rate, constant sleepiness, cold feet, dry skin, weight gain and virtually impossible to lose weight, mild depression, healthy heart and stress testing, cognitive slowing and chronic constipation. It just makes no sense. Someone...ANYONE...PLEASE explain
My mom suffers from Grave's disease. She had the orbital decompression surgery. As they said it went well, but right after the surgery she became almost completely blind. The neurosurgent implied that we were quite late and that blood wasn't getting through her eye nerves, that's what was causing her eye failure. But it had been months that she was being treated by her endocrinologist and her opthalomogist trying to heal Grave's through medication. It's been over a month now and her sight is less than 5%.. We've been to 4 different clinics and nobody could help. It comes a point where they all draw the same conclusion, "There isn't much left to do, we did our best and anything possible, we now just have to wait and see.." But we are waiting over a month as I said before and she can't see..! Is there anything else we can try? Does it take that long to heal? And what happens in the cases that Grave's causes blindness? Are they irreversable??
FYI, Some of this is way off. Thyroid does not make T3 - the liver does as it converts T4 because T4 can not bind with the cell receptors. So you shouldn’t completely ignore the liver when discussing thyroid issues. You also should not ignore estrogen in females with thyroid issues as it blocks thyroid production and can cause hypo.
At 1:40, you mentioned TRH, thyroid releasing hormone. Technically, it is called thyrotropin releasing hormone as TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is also known as thyrotropin. :) Nonetheless, thanks for the great video! :D
Amazing video. I didn't see any information about the liver's role in the conversion of T4 to T3. I'm a holistic healer and I'm always interested in the emotional patterning that underlies a health issue. In the case of Graves, I have a friend who has dealt with it and I've been thinking a lot about it over the last couple days and watching several videos. What has jumped out at me is the feedback loop where there is a "lack of response" to the output of the thyroid gland. So the gland keeps working and working "to be heard." In energetic medicine the thyroid is associated with the throat and voice. Parents who are in crisis cannot respond to their children. If there is anger or rage involved, this can result in an energetic pattern where the child or young adult introjects this negative emotion and begins to subconsciously attack their own voice. "I'm not getting any response, I'm not being heard, so there must be something wrong with my voice, or the way I am expressing myself." And eventually, "I hate myself and my voice for not being able to get a loving response." This is the experience of working and working in an impossible situation "to be heard," and is an example of an emotional pattern that can manifest physically as an autoimmune situation where the body is literally attacking itself. A rageful parent would rather put their child "in a grave" rather than hear what they have to say, rather than feel and process their own pain and fear. I know this probably sounds like a bunch of woo woo gobbledy gook to some people. But for those who are experiencing Graves, I'm curious if any of this lands for you.
Not really. Interesting insight though. I'm coming to the conclusin after 8 years that diet and stress are what trigger thyroid problems, alongisde a genetic predispostion to thyroid problems perhaps. Cutting iodine intake to the RDI may be essential for anyone with an overactive thyroid.
I have this condition as well and get the skin rashes and swelling it’s insane. Cant stand the heat and i feel extremely tired. Also loosing my hair and iam 37 years old ☹️ but ive gained weight through this so idk 🤷🏽♀️
Thanks so much. Your videos are very helpful. Please, I would like to suggest that, after the presentation, you can make a general focus on your sheet so we can see all the diagrams and points together. This will help us see all the presentations on one sheet
Thanks for the video and for the explanation, it has been very useful. However, whilst you know a certain amount about this topic, there seem to be large gaps in knowledge surrounding it, particularly what causes it in the first place, and how it should be treated (rather than managed). As someone who has Graves, the block and replace has been fine to manage the issue, but it is no long term solution. I will now try altering my diet quite radically, and hope that works. I also think that this disease comes about through mental anxiety, or stress as suggested, and feel that has a much more significant influence on whether you get it than alluded to in this video. More research is needed on dietary, and on mental connections to this disease, as my consultants are only concerned with management of the issue, rather than treatment. Doctors seem a little narrow minded, but that's just my view.
An update 3 years later....I came off my medication but relapsed again after 18 months. Since then I have adopted a low iodine diet, which in the UK means cutting dairy, as iodine is added to dairy food in the UK (in the US they add iodine to salt). The thyroid's function is to process iodine into the different hormones t4 and therefore t3. So consuming too much iodine is not a good idea if you have an overactive thyroid. Since I reduced my iodine intake my thyroid has been better, in fact functioning normally for a short time now. Fingers crossed this lasts.
sir my friend had dialysis he was well but one day he got cough and stomach pain and died plz explain what happened inside him how did he die i am a medico and would like to know
I've just been diagnosed with Graves Disease and my firs sign of it was my eyes. I am seeing an endocrinologist who is treating me with methomazole. I've been on it for about 2 weeks but haven't noticed any change. It is so hard to see with double vision.
Be1smaht I'm pretty sure that's extremely, extremely rare. Hashimoto's is a type of HYPOTHYROIDISM and is characterized by entirely different symptoms.. It is possible to have both types of antibodies, causing your body to experience BOTH types of symptoms. Unless you have fatigue, excess sleepiness, hair loss, high blood pressure, anxiousness, exophthalmos, gaining and losing weight, diarrhea, tachycardia, etc, then I doubt you have it. But it's possible :) (Although rare)
Wow! This is amazing, so interesting, thanx for your explanation, for just normal people like me, now I could understand why I am so thin and have always been, even when I felt good, I think my thyroid must be a llittle bit overworking, so I will be more careful with the iodine intake and food that contains it, like japanese miso soup that I love, so no algaes for me. Thnx a lot.
