It's just our cultural immune system kicking in. Politicians can't keep dismantling our culture and displace our native population in a short term plot to postpone the inevitable demographic crunch. Our economies can't grow forever by importing cheap labor, and sooner or later we have to face the fact that in developed countries, the population will shrink to a sustainable level. Let's not destroy our European legacy, democracy and peoples in a vain effort to grow the economy for short term political power. The sooner the left understands this, the sooner we will start to stabilize. I'm very left leaning, but no leftist party dares tackle immigration in a serious manner. I think many sees our very future and the future of our children to live in a coherent, self governing, stable and trusting environment is at stake at this point. Americans can not understand this, as their immigrants already displaced their native population. Now they want the same to happen in Europe.
