Picking up a guitar, with no prior musical skill or knowledge, four years ago you were guiding me through the open chords and the basics. I remember your video and I spent so much time on that dreaded F chord. Now, I'm here again trying to learn gravity, a song that seemed way out of reach back then. I will always be grateful to you, Justin. Thank you for all the hard work you put in so we, the less talented, can make our life a little more melodic. Guys, if you feel you were helped by this amazing person here, consider supporting him in any way you can. Music is love and love is the solution.
Isnt understood enough. If any of you guys are reading this, still dreading the F chord, unable to play something like this, its all good, just give it some time, and youll get there.
Stuck on the F Chord now, I can play it but not change very quickly or anything, really want to learn this song, is it worth trying to learn right now or focus on technique first then come back?
We honestly don't deserve you man. I've been going in and out of the hobby for probably the last 10 years or so. And you've been there providing lessons all that time. Recently got back into guitar again after listening to Mayer and here you are. Really trying to learn this style now and there are lessons on these types of chords right there on the site. Couldn't ask for more.
I was looking for this ages ago and couldn’t find much. So glad you got around to this!!! I learn so much easier from your style of teaching. Thanks as always
JustinGuitar Songs thank you so much! Also FYI, loving the Andertons video lessons with Lee. When you can keep his attention for more than a minute at a time 😉😉
man dont know why it took me so long to come across your channel but I've been learning guitar from you since like 2007!! you are basically my mentor, just want to say a huge thank you justin!
I really have to check out the JH style. After finally getting along with most barre chords I think it is the next logical step on electric guitar :-) Thanks for the cool lesson!
Thanks for this song. I'm an acoustic guitarist, so this has been a bear to learn, but I've done a few hacks to get this. I really appreciate your posting this. Maybe when I grow up (I'm in my 60'), I learn electric guitar. I'm also doing this fingerstyle which makes the arpeggios easier to do.
4:40 I don't seem to be able to put the thumb over without muting most of the strings because of the angle created in the hand. Is there a more in depth video on these shapes? Or some kind of lateral view or something xd
Hey Justin would you consider a tutorial on then he kissed me by the crystals? All the ones on RU-vid are terrible and I think you could really do a fantastic job
Justin, your lessions are awaresome! I like it very much how you take care for the quality of your teaching. When I am looking for a song and see you did I am always happy and I know that learning time is a good invest. Thank you for this John Mayer tune! When you play the Gm with the Bb in the bass, what is going on with the A and D string? I guess A muted and on the D the original root note from the G chord? Greetings from Germany! Richard
Around 09:10 you see that his index finger is on the D string, forming a bar (a D minor shaped but moved up all the way to fret 5, with the index finger fretting that 5 fret starting from the D string). The A string is not played but muted with the tip of the index finger | lesson page on the site: www.justinguitar.com/songs/john-mayer-gravity-rhythm-chords-tabs-guitar-lesson-st-805 | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Assistant

Hi, I was unable to understand why john goes from gmin to ebmajor and back to v7 I in gmajor...he starts with a ii v I in the key of G from which he goes to a min 1 rather than a major and from there to eb major to again a V7 I Could you explain that part Thanks ...great lesson 🙂
Justin, when you use your third finger at 5:34...you would only be playing the top 3 strings, yeah? Not sure what do do about the 4th string if I use my third finger there like you do. Silly question, sorry!
I love John Mayer's music but I'm finding there's not a lot in his catalog that I can play due to his heavy use of the thumb to play bass notes on the 6th string. Can't do it.
Omg this video was about 4 days late smh, I played gravity at my high school graduation and if this video came out earlier I could’ve used it to practice the exact parts I needed to play
Nice work my man i appreciate your work :) Have you done a cover/lesson on New Dawn Fades by Joy Division ? If not would like you to do 1 it's a really great song when played on acoustic guitar :)
video is long 13:37 which in "internet language" is read LEET backword 7(L) 3(E) 1(t) :D so called l33t language, where you mix numbers and other punctual signs to create words ^^ JUSTIN = ju§71|\| etc
If it sounds good it is good. For passing / chromatic chords you don't really need heavy analysis on it to play and like it. Cheers 😊 | close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Moderator [ www.justinguitar.com/ ]
I suck I cannot even close make that g chord I use my pinky all the time yet it doesn’t want to bend for embellishments and my pointer will only grab the b but the e I can’t fret and forget about stupid ring finger too ugh I’ll never get Hendrix chords or triads period or a regular f chord even cuz of it f power chord is bout my only chance.. it’s the one thing I can’t get better at is that f chord anywhere let alone thumb in bass.. n my fingers aren’t even short
