I have my winch control box relocated under my hood that made a big difference with air flow to the radiator, but my temp needle will creep over to about 226-234 sometimes under load on incline or in town under load on hills. 🤷
The issue most of the time is the radiator fan high speed doesn't get turned in by the ECM until approximately 228-230. I've used HP Tuners to lower the on temp setting for the fan high speed to 210-215 which seems to help a lot. The 3.6 engines are designed to run a little warmer than what we are used to. Here's some useful info for you. Water boils at around 215. The antifreeze/coolant in the system raises the boiling temp about 5-10 degrees. To go along with that, the system builds up to 15 psi of pressure at normal running temperature. Each psi of pressure in the system raises the boiling temp 2 degrees. 15 psi equals 30 degrees added to the boiling point. That being said, if the cooling system is 100% operational, the boiling temp is approximately 250.
@@deepsouth4x488 I’ve read the 3.6 runs hot to begin with for “emissions “ which is stupid! also the cooling fan kicking on at such a high temperature is also stupid! Maybe I’ll try the tuner and lower the temp for fan to kick on. Thanks
