55 people who disliked are town planning council members. Brilliant use of auger and treadmill. I'm impressed. You could've given thought to walking height tunnel.
This is fun. I think we've all watched Colin Fruze and all thought, god his soil/rock is just perfect for it. If I tried it here I'd be under water. Yours is going to be a labour of love. I'm looking forward to how you get on with it.
Thanks for a brilliant “men in sheds” type film. If only the poor blighters in WW2 had this kit in the Great Escape. Dave, PLEASE stay safe. Am looking forward to episode 3. Now off to buy the DVD from “The Great Escape”. Cheers, Russ 🙂.
Russ, glad you like it, comments like this are what keeps me going, part 3 is coming on well, will have to watch the film myself again to get the details right 😂
Like many others I came here from Colin, and I am deeply impressed. I like your ingenuity (that mini Landrover is amazing with good towing capacity) and your son is a really good winch operator. A chip of the old Block! A fine tribute to "The Great Escape" indeed. Keep it up!
Also a Colin Furze tunnel watcher. This just now popped up for me. I might be late but I'm here now! Can't wait to see your progress. That treadmill dirt mover is genius!
Im totally loving your tunnel expansion joints. Great work on the fabrication of those. Thanks for showing off the great bending machine. (And the plazma cutter in part two for all the winch parts) That auger looks great.
Brilliant project especially in the theme of 'The Great Escape!' But surely you should get rid of the spoil by little bags hidden inside the bottom of your trousers and opened by an arrangement of string and pins, while walking around your garden, discretely dumping it? Plus shoring up the tunnel with off cuts of wood from around your home, floorboards, bed bases etc would be more 'authentic'? 😊 On a safety note, are you sure those pieces of old computer case strong enough to support the tunnel roof in the event of a collapse⚠️🤔😲😳
You and Colin should dig a tunnel to each other! you could meet in the middle, if you miss, just keep going, then you'll have two tunnels between y'r houses!!!
@@ChickenDeranged the Suzhou Rail Transit Line 3-11 in china has a tunnel that is 53miles long, but if we are going by just tunnel as a definition in the USA there is an aquaduct that has enough room to walk that is 80 miles long
I came over from Collins post and I'm watching your series and this treadmill has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen and I can't believe it works too funny😂😂 and
Dude, all I gotta say is you’re about to blow UP!!!!!!! Came across a lil clip from this video on ur facebook. Had to come watch it lol this is to awesome.
@@Tornado_Dave definitely working!!!! I saw a lot of great feedback from other viewers!! A lot of comments saying they went RU-vid to watch the full thing! Keep it up my man!!! I don’t think a lot of people realize how much time, work and dedication comes to not only doing what your already doing but to document your journey by filming editing and posting your content on top of it all is just a whole other ball game! Much respect!!! 🫡
Glad you liked it, the tunnel video will be broadcasted every 4 weeks to give time for some progress, with a general video in 2 weeks time showing other jobs in progress.
@@Tornado_Dave lol. I was referring to the old days were it was the safest place to build a base from mobs early game. But hell. I've seen ancient pictures of hidden real world rooms and stores in wells, back in the 1990's. So cool Sadly most would simply be filled in an lost for ever
note to anyone who wants to do this ; mask your vehicle rego in your videos because local govt will get jealous and shut you down and some people would want to take it off you (at knifepoint) in the case of SHTF
Yes I was thinking the same, I’ve always hidden all of my projects but people kept saying you should put them on RU-vid, now I have a not so secret bunker 😀
Not sure if anyone else commented this, but since you have so much gravel in your dirt, it might contain gold. The gravel looks round like it was part of an ancient river bed. Just saying.
I don't know how long you plan on getting the tunnel.. but maybe already add air and lights while you go? Like every third section, a bracket to hang stuff from? Maybe one of these comms, two old landline phones that way you can talk with the support crew😉
I understand your desire to use those metal panels for shoring, but i definitely think they need reinforcing. Obvious suggestion would be to brace with a 2x4 frame, but obvious that you are limited in terms of space. I wonder if you could reinforce internally using some thicker plate, or even better, maybe some angle iron?
Epic project, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 but I guess it would have been a bit easier if you had made the tunnel a bit higher and wider even if it is a lot more material to dig through..
I had to subscribe. :) The only thing that worries me is the tunnel strength. A huge dumping of soil would fold them like paper. I wonder if it was worth digging higher so you can sit up and be in more control. It’s my dream to tunnel as well
Ayup mate, this is bloody great! Can I ask a couple of questions please? 1. Why not go full height so you can actually walk through the tunnel? 2. How will it be waterproof in there? Good luck and stay safe mate 👍. Julian.
Julian, the theme is the great escape tunnel so when finished will be similar size to the original, and my idea is to let the water drain through the steel and have a dry centre, much more into this on part 4 out tonight where I battle against the English winter weather.
@@Tornado_Dave Absolutely no problem mate, I saw the latest video where you mentioned letting the water drain through little gutters. But I worry the tunnel could flood, as your metal side/floor panels aren't a water-tight seal are they? Still, you know what you're doing! I'm loving this anyway mate, keep it up it's fantastic.👍👍
If I did that in my back yard it will take the second half of 1 second for my buddies to ask if they can have some of the wacky tobacco I have been smoking while coming up with this diabolical idea, the second question would be if they can also come and hide there if they are wanted by the Police or the divorce lawyer, lol!
I would say I’ve got 50% of people saying I’ve finally lost my mind completely and the other 50% saying they love it. I’m enjoying myself so for me that’s all that matters 😀
Yes I thought about that but round peg square hole! Also it would of been hard to stop the boring machine spinning the opposite direction when hitting big rocks
