Great Lakes Big Rig Challenge Event (2nd Edition)
The Great Lakes Big Rig Challenge (2nd Edition) loaded drag racing compilation! This Quebec style uphill side by side Semi Truck drag racing competition can only be found at one location in the United States... Onaway Speedway! This sport is most popular in Canada. Onaway Speedway has a dedicated uphill track specifically designed for this style of drag racing. Drivers and teams came from all around, some over 1000 miles from the US and Canada just to race here. These clips show some of the awesome loaded drag racing action on track from the May 18-19 weekend. Competitors hooked up to trailers loaded down with 123,000lbs of lumber, and raced uphill. A couple of trucks broke, but most had great races. Enjoy!

I actually enjoyed the sound more a few years back, before they all had their intake from the turbo straight up through the hood. The turbo spooling takes out the beautiful engine sound now days but they have all stepped it up in performance though.

Wouldn't it be "the amount of force (a ton in this case) divided by the distance (in this instance a foot) away from the turning point? Just saying ^^ "foot" note: The definition of Imperial units is defined by metric units ^^ (i.e: A yard is defined as exactly 0.9144 metres by the International yard and pound agreement of 1959)

They're running differentials from 92-98 Chevy Silverado, converted to irs so they can run half shafts out of Suzuki Samurai. They're running the tried and true automatic transmission from the GMC Acadia. All this being turned by the powerful Northstar V8 by Cadillac

Diesel Exhaust Fluid wouldn't work with the engines running so rich anyway. DEF can only work when there's a little oxygen left in the exhaust. All that black smoke was partially-burned paraffin wax from the diesel fuel being burned super-rich for maximum power. (how exactly running a diesel engine rich maximizes power, when it has the opposite effect on a gasoline engine, I don't understand, but apparently that's how it works anyway.)

@@craigjb Are you really this delusional or just making a joke? I mean do you really need it explained to you? Now that said just so I'm clear. I'm not saying these trucks don't make a ton of torque. Although saying they make anything near all the vehicles on 1320 is incredibly delusional. There's hundreds of car making between 1000 and 3000+ ft.lbs of torque not counting the hundreds more under that rating. Even if 200 trucks showed up at this event and they all made 3k it still wouldn't be more. The problem is I don't believe you understand how much torque many of the cars on that channel actually make. So please tell me your kidding.

To all you green earthers with your hair on fire: Smoky diesel tuning is self-cooling. That black stuff is soot, it's a particulate and it settles down to the earth and while nasty looking... it's self-sequestering. Becomes dirt. A diesel pulling this hard with no soot in the exhaust is either filtered (and will burn a lot more fuel cleaning itself later) or running super-hot and making so much NOx pollution you'd soil yourself to calculate it... not to mention being on the edge of blowing holes in itself, which is a lot more waste and energy use than blowing soot out the stacks when the rack's open. You can blow 'dirt' out the stack, or you can make smog and acid rain. Your choice.
