Welcome to What Yacht To Do, a Great Loop Documentary. Today, (April 12, 2022) Rev and Sam are moving on their Great Loop Route from Hoggs anchorage in Stuart, Florida to Eau Gallie anchorage in Melbourne, Florida

Nice to see a courteous boater. Been boating since I was ten years old and now sixty four years later I still dream of living on a boat but time has creeped up and my dream is through others. Thanks for the journey. I am really enjoying your ride. Stay safe, happy boating.

Another great video. Glad to see all went well and the mix with other vessels is interesting as well. That last 1000 mile mark is close I would think and I am sure the traffic is going to make some white knuckle moments. Adds to the memories.

Hello Sam & Rev! Thanks for all of the wonderful videos of the Great Loop. I have watched every single one of your videos. Thanks to your adventure....I have now caught the Great Loop "bug" and now in the planning stages of doing this myself. Your videos are just so enjoyable to watch. How many times will you do the loop? Thanks again folks. Keep up the great videos!

I used to live in Melbourne as well, very near the bridge on the mainland side. I was out of the service and went to work for the Florida Dept of Corrections as a State Probation/Parole Officer. I bounced around between the Melbourne and Cocoa offices. Are you all going to be doing another go round on the Loop?
@WhatYachtToDo
@WhatYachtToDo 2 года назад
Hi Michael. I had a good time in that area for 3 years. No, we will not be doing a third Loop in the immediate future!

Do you have to swing your compass on a time interval as in an aircraft?
@WhatYachtToDo
@WhatYachtToDo 2 года назад
We do not have to swing the compass, like an aircraft. It does have some inherent installation error in it due to each time electronics have been added. If we were using it solely to navigate with, I would be concerned, but with all the other electronic GPS driven aids, I don't worry with it. It is within 5 degrees on most headings.

@@WhatYachtToDo Oh yes I agree that a whiskey compass in this day and age is tantamount to ancestor worship. I never flew it but on jump seat trips on the MD-80 I was always entertained by the crews adjusting the mirrors to even see it. When I started flying they were essential as the directional gyros were very prone to presession. Thanks. My curiosity was sparked by that beautiful compass on your cockpit counter. I thought it must be a good one, it doesn't even have a correction card...😃

When will the flag be unfurled?
@WhatYachtToDo

Ah, we had intended to unfurl it once across Lake Okeechobee, but did it later. Can't remember when it was unfurled. But it is unfurled now!
