I live just a few miles down the North Wales coast from Llandudno. This type of venturing down into Town was never seen, until the Covid pandemic. With no-one on the streets during that period the Goats literally had the 'run of the town', & have remained bold ever since, (but mostly in the early morning) their natural home/habitat has been the Great Orme since a few of them were brought back here by the British Army after the 1st Afghan War. Queen Victoria herself, then decreed that they be hand picked as Mascot's for all the Welsh Regiments of the period, & this is still the case to this day.
@@michaeljones1445 .....er, not according to local knowledge around these parts, but there again,I've only quoted what I've been told by an elderly gent' & near neighbour ?
Just doing there gardening for people on the street😂 it’s good to see I saw 4 down a side road in north wales not far from this place 😊😊 it was good to see keep up the old fashion😊❤
Aw, thanks. (The gag was, lock up yer daughters -- the fleet's in! I don't suppose 'armada' will get adopted as a collective noun, but I figured you at least would get the nautical reference. They seem to be entirely untroubled by your presence, it's great to see them up so close.)
Mountin' goats again? No, no, we're just good friends! I must say they all look very healthy and some look better groomed than the hairier breeds at Crufts!
I'm starting to get a complex. Three times I've tried to comment here, rejected each time. This will probably make four. I'd repeat it, but the joke's getting tired now (to me). Great filming, thanks.
@@azillliasmith2734Aw, thanks. Once I get my ego back in its box, I figure the algorithm knows best! I’m sure you agree, these guys are quite magnificent. Especially when they come to town in an armada.
@@GreatOrmeGoats That's probably the only positive thing to come out of the lockdowns then. Do any of them allow people to pet them, or do they keep their distance I wonder?
They do try to avoid people and are mainly around during night and early morning. Sometimes they're still around through the day. It's winter and spring they come to town.
Unfortunately they do sometimes get attacked by dogs. It's more likely to happen on their nature reserve where people ignore the signs to keep dogs on leads.
@@BrockSamson-i1i I've only seen them fight with each other. They usually run from anything they find threatening. It's during rutting season the billy goats get brave. They sometime cause nasty injuries to each other. Up until 2021 I had no fear of them. Then during 2021 rutting season a group of billy goats had a nanny cornered who was exhausted and injured from being constantly chased around. I went over and tried to scare the billy goats away from her. Most of them ran from me, but one of them came towards me with his head lowered and started stamping his feet. I stamped my feet back at him and shouted at him to go making big arm gestures, and he eventually backed down. I was quite scared. I think if I'd tried to turn away he might have lunged at me and knocked me over. Those horns could do some damage and I wouldn't like to be stamped on by a goat.
