Today we bring out some of the Salt Creek Custom Vintage Waterfowl 12ga 2.5" 1-1/8oz low pressure Bismuth 5s and put them to the test at 40 yards through an old 1951 Marlin Model 90 12ga O/U with a mod/full choke combo. We definitely saw some very impressive results from this combo, so stick around and see how it performs!

Claybuster CB1138-12 wad. That wad is like magic lol always gives good patterns.

One of the best wads out there, no doubt.

I'm definitely not a wad expert, but they clearly seem to do the job pretty well

Break action always did best. I have Bikal MP-18M-M Full choke. Massive velocity standard shells.

It's been years since I've been out on a waterfowl hunt. I definitely want to get back out there soon, but I can't guarantee how soon it will be or if it will be this season or not

I'll take that any day! If it works 70 years ago it should work today.

This is the first time I've ever messed with one, but they seem to be a pretty decent shotgun

You think that Marlin is ugly ? Many would say it's beautiful. Are you going to have it restored? Why do a frame-up restoration on the thing? You have just demonstrated that an " antique " O/U shotgun, launching an " antique " load, at " antique " chamber pressures, is still very relevant in this day of stamped sheet-metal, plastic, and paint schemes on the plastic.... 1-1/8 of Bismuth #5, at ~1400 fps, out of a 2-1/2" hull, with no more than 6500 PSI chamber pressure ? Hat's off and raise a glass to the crew at Salt Creek. Wow, just Wow ! Your Model 90 delivered the payload, on target, and the pattern was as impressive as was the ammo, and that Model 90 could use a tune-up, so, why NOT restore it ? Machined metal, wood, and no pain-in-the-ass engraving to clean, after some time in the field. Your Model 90 is working CLASS !

Yep, it was definitely pretty impressive overall. The shotgun isn't ugly as in the design of it, I was more so meaning it's been used hard and banged up, and patch up a little, that's all. I highly doubt I'd ever restore it though. I'll probably clean it up a little, but it's just realistically one I probably won't take out very often. No big reason in particular, I've just have other setups to grab ahead of this one

@@matttyreeoutdoors Yeah, I see where you're coming from. Just bought a bunch of TSS, and 2-1/2" Bismuth "vintage" from Salt Creek. Never heard of Salt Creek, Thank you for making me aware of Salt Creek. As an aside, what do you think it would cost to restore you Model 90 ?

@nickpaglia543 Salt Creek makes some great shells, so you won't be disappointed. I honestly have absolutely no clue what it would cost. If I wanted an expert completely redo it a hundred percent perfectly the right way, it would not surprise me if it was up near a grand, which is quite a bit more than it's even worth in the first place
