Something I have always loved about genesis is how they turn off the lights for finals making it feel like a different tournament. It is confusing at times but it looks really nice on camera. But damn I can't wait for next week. I am ready for melee to return.
Jmook's combo on IBDW, on Final Destination, Losers Finals at G8 I think was the highlight of the tournament, I'm surprised that one was left out over his wins on Llod and None. I think Hbox beating Axe at G6 was also a historic moment to show his dominance at the time.
I totally see that. It’s always tough since some moments have to be left out. Jmook making top 8 in the first place was such a huge and monumental moment in smash since something like that hadn’t been done before. And I agree him making grands was even bigger. I was stuck for all of his great moments that tournament. As for hbox at g6. He was winning every tournament with dominance and I feel he had bigger and better showings
This was awesome to relive these amazing moments. Going to my first Genesis this weekend. It'll be my second ever tournament out of state. Going with 2 of my best friends even though they don't play smash competitively but they're interested in it
Sounds like you’re going to have a blast! Genesis is my favorite tournament of all time. Genesis 3 was my first major. I couldn’t believe how awesome it was going to that as my first. I’ll be at genesis 9 too and it will be a blast! Hope y’all have fun
The best part of the Zain/Mango set at G7 was definitely when they were at the left ledge of Pokémon Stadium and kept hitting each other and teching into the stage, all within a few seconds. Weirdly enough, I think aMSa might have the best shot at winning Genesis 9.
I definitely felt that Jmook iBDW should've been in here. After how hot Cody looked in WS against Zain, no one could've predicted that the person who lost to Zain last stock Game 5 would get absolutely destroyed by Jmook. I always remember that at one point while Jmook is techchasing him, Cody actually puts his head down cause he feels so defeated
I feel like you missed like half the best moments from G8 lol Fizzwiggle with the biggest upset possibly of all time, Jmook > Plup to start that monster run, Jmook > Cody (two guys that NY has seen in random locals grand finals for almost a decade). Great video tho lots of fun to reminisce!
There were too many moments for sure. I had to leave some out since I didn’t want the video to be too long. Or G8 over powering it with a ton of clips etc. I tried to pick the most memorable parts with jmook making top 8, which was absolutely insane, none hbox insane stock, and the jmook 4 stock in top 8 with the jwalk style. I think it could have used the clip of him making grands, but I’ll miss some moments here and there! Yalls comments are here to make me better!

Great video! List videos will always be disputed, everybody has their own greatest moments depending on when they entered the scene and their experience, but would def like to see more PP on here. Keep it up

Those first few genesis tournaments had really bad commentary, although to be fair a few of the commentators (like Phil) have improved from really bad to average over the years.
I get that! I’ve had lots of hbox wins on the channel for sure. But when it comes to really close or iconic wins, his genesis one was somewhat lack luster in comparison to the others. He swept for his genesis win winning in dominant fashion. But with armada winning there was the mango rivalry that everyone wants to see. My thought process behind it
it was definitely an expected result, though. He was so dominant at the time and had an insanely good matchup in grands. Not to suggest his win isn’t impressive, but by that time we all already knew hbox was by far the best in the world and the favorite to sweep the event.
I guess it's in the same way that past genesis, axe reached grand finals and everyone wanted him to win, i guess it was kinda disappointing that he lost to hungrybox
Mango definitely had some of the best moments of not the best moments at genesis. Not even fan boying, he just brings the hype on his losers runs HMW is sick
