@@scjacket611 He is, too bad that he going to Indy car next year. Not saying he couldn't do it but it one thing to be one of the greatest NASCAR racer to drive a NASCAR's car, it's another to drive a Indy car or vice versa. All I'm saying is it's one thing to win a NASCAR race, it's another to win a Indy car race. Sorry, I'm just not a good speller, so I was saying it to the speaker and it's write it out for me, too bad if it came out wrong. But yes you're right about being dumb if I accidentally sent it while it was still in progress. It was just a mistake. Anyway before I made this too long for what it should be here it is, if you must know my point.
& even before 2015 if Jeff won at Texas in 2014 making it to the final 4 & going to Homestead, where I feel like a lot of people forget, he had one of the best cars & was in position to win but they decided to pit on the last caution.
@@xhoosierfan24x74 I never understood that he gave that race away bothers me to this day I’m glad you mentioned it that race decision needs a deep dive !
Both National Guard cars losing the Indy 500 and Coke 600 on the final turn of the final lap is one of the most perplexing things in motorsports history.
Edwards winning the 2016 Championship would've been more impactful, as the pain wouldn't be as bad as it is now. Gordon winning 5 would've propelled him to GOAT status among Earnhardt and Petty though
If the ‘17 playoff format with playoff points format had been around, he likely would’ve. With all the bonus points he had, he easily would’ve made Homestead, and we all know how much he dominated that race.
What if Ryan Newman couldn't make up that final spot at Phoenix in 2014 is one that pops into my mind. Jeff Gordon would've been part of the Final four at Homestead. Jeff's car was amazing at Homestead too. He led 161 of 267 laps and would've easily won if he didn't make the strange and suspicious late race pit stop.
We need someone to ask the crew chief and Jeff about that incident im talking about a deep dive because he was in a class of his own and had that race won until he literally gave it away ?!
@@deaf2819 strangest and dumbest call that I've ever seen. I think it was to avoid racing against any of the final four drivers. Of course that's all speculation.
@@rolandjovi2441 yea which is silly if that’s the case let their asses race alone in the final race so nobody interferes ! One of these you tubers should find these answers for us i doubt any of them remember this but it’s VIVID in my mind because I wanted him to take that momentum into the next season and next homestead race eff the championship 4
The two from 2012 with Dave Blaney & Micheal Waltrip/Casey Mears would've been cool but as a Kenseth Fan I'm pretty happy with how the results went IRL.
Jeff gordon winning his fifth and final championship in his last full time season wouldve been spectacular and a fitting way for a hall of famer to end their career.
@@Syclone- without the stupid chase/playoffs Jeff would be a seven-time champion and Jimmie would only have 3 (which is why I still hold that Jeff is a better driver than Jimmie)
@@Syclone- except the championships after 2004 mean so much less since we're not actually crowning the best driver as "champion" just manufacturing an "exciting end of the season" ...not.. Look back at the stats from 2004, 07, and 14 and you'll see that Jeff was far and away the best driver... (ok maybe 04 was a little close).
Great video... But you did miss a few. - 2012 Spring Martinsville race where David Reutimann’s dying car makes it to pit road and it allows Jeff Gordon to beat Jimmie Johnson to earn Hendrick’s 200th win in NASCAR. As a result, Jeff versus Clint doesn’t materialize. - 2013 Fall race at Richmond where Clint Bowyer doesn’t spin on purpose & Ryan Newman wins the race (clinching him in The Chase) & Jeff Gordon enters as the last driver to qualify (edging out Martin Truex)... MWR doesn’t lose sponsorship in the fallout & is still a top NASCAR team. - 2013 Fall Talladega race where Austin Dillon doesn’t flip on the last lap & Dale Jr gets a last-lap pass on Jamie McMurray. - 2014 Fall Kansas race where Dale Jr. doesn’t blow a right front tire while leading the race and ends up winning the race & making the Round of 8. - 2014 Fall Texas race where Clint Bowyer doesn’t clip the wall with 2 laps to go and Jeff Gordon easily cruises to the win & clinches his way to Homestead. - 2015 Fall Kansas race where Joey Logano doesn’t punt Matt Kenseth and races him cleanly for the win & the rivalry never materializes.
I wish Jamie’s engine had never blown that day so bad, I was at that race and despite a somewhat uneventful race the closing stages were actually very interesting due to the multiple strategies going on, and I grew up a fan of biffle and wanted to see him win so bad that day. Also if I remember correctly Jamie’s engine deciding to split was the first caution of the day, it would’ve been fitting for that race to had been the last caution free race in nascar history seeing as stages aren’t going anywhere soon.
I would've LOVED to see Carl Edwards win his first championship, I was a huge fan of his, I remember watching that race and pretty much crying when he crashed out, it was so heart breaking to see, and then the poetic insult to injury of him being bought out, oh I'm sorry, "retiring" for the failed experiment that was Daniel Suarez, just made it all the more upsetting.
How did he punt him? He made slight contact that made Martin's car go up the track. That isn't punting him. Mark stayed 2nd. Stayed going straight and didnt have any damage
@@braydenfletcher8159 except Mark is one of the nicest and most respected drivers in racing history. He was the first person to recognize that worthless twit. I agree with Mark and disagree with that spoiled daddy's boy. Mark did NOT deserve that. Besides, if Joey waited and got side by side with Mark going into turn two, he'd let him go. Mark has a history of settling for 2nd.
If you want a comparison, he did what Jeremy Mayfield did to Earnhardt back in 2000 at Pocono. He got him loosened up enough and went around him. There was no punting. It was just one of those racing deals. You put 43 competitors in racecars, those facts mean nothing. They want to win. They'd run over anyone to get a win.
He was REALLY close in 2017. If Adam Stevens didnt fuck up his strategy and stay out longer than he should have, he probably would’ve won the race. 2018 he just wasn’t fast unfortunately same as 2016. He was always in the final 4 though, so there was a very real possibility of him winning multiple in a row (17,18,19) or something crazy because he was always in the mix.
Kyle Busch's 1st championship in 2019 because we all should know that Jeff Gordon deserved it in 2015, he was the only one better than Kyle Busch that night in beautiful awesome 2015 at Homestead.
2012 Sonoma - Kurt Busch drove for unsponsored 51 Phoenix Racing car. Battling Clint Bowyer for the win in the last 10 laps. However, Kurt Busch clipped a tire barrier in the turn 11 and broken the track bar. He finished 3rd in that race.
I wish Michael Waltrip had won Talladega in 2012 especially considering that I am just as big of a Michael Waltrip fan as Erich Keplinger And I wish Jeff Gordon won the 2014 Championship and the 2015 Championship
From 2010 to 2015, Dale Jr finished top 3 in the Daytona 500 four out of five of those years. As a Jr fan myself, that’s a big “what if” for me. What if he had won one of those times besides 2014?
DALE EARNHARDT SR ALIVE TO WIN THE 2010 Championships DALE EARNHARDT JR WINING HIS 1RST CHAMPIONSHIP JEFF GORDON DRIVE FOR 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 2004 JIMMIE JOHNSON WINNING THE 2019 CHAMPIONSHIPS
What he isn't mentioning about the 2015 truck race at Eldora is that Bobby Pierce is a well known dirt late model driver, as was his father. He's no underdog... He was a ringer hired by MB for the Eldora race. It's no different than Cup teams bringing on successful road course drivers as ringers at Watkins Glen or Sonoma, which has been done for decades.
Here is another one (this one is kind of a reach because of what actually ended up happening, but it is worth mentioning): Dale Jr's engine blows up in the final sprint to the finish, and Denny Hamlin wins the 2014 Daytona 500, becoming the 1st ever driver in Cup history to win the Clash, the Duel race and the 500 in the same year Imagine how much of a boost that would have been to Hamlin's legacy: coming back from an injury-riddled 2013 season, Hamlin starts off the new season by dominating all of 2014 Speedweeks. This, in addition to his other 3 Daytona 500 wins, would cement him as an all-time great as far as Daytona 500 success goes. Even if he doesn't win a title, Hamlin would be a first-ballot Hall of Famer off of his Daytona 500 success alone
Jamie McMurray also could've gotten his final win in the 2018 Roval race. Blaney passed him for 3rd coming to 2 to go, and Jamie said after the race that he let Blaney go because his left side mirror had fallen off earlier in the race and he wasn't sure if the 12 was inside of him or not. If he was the one who stole the win instead of Blaney, it would've been his final win in technically the same event that he got his first win 16 years before.
"...the race that everyone remembers for being stopped by the potholes in the track. Must've been paved by the same company that paves Illinois roads." Are you kidding? They were paved by PennDot! 🤣
I’m a little surprised the Fall Texas race in 2014 wasn’t on here. Had Keselowski not wrecked Jeff Gordon at Texas, he would have surely made the championship 4 and was very strong on 1.5 mile tracks that year.
As for the one with Christopher bell, you gotta remember that at that time bell was just a dirt racing kid from Oklahoma. He hadn’t had his nascar wins yet, or 3 chili bowls
If Junior won that Fall Talladega race, Kyle Busch wouldn’t have advanced and therefore win the championship. Also, because of his win at Phoenix, Junior would be in the Championship 4
i dont think Carl wouldve retired if he won Homestead cuz he still had 3 years before he would hit his statistical prime. That race broke him mentally and i really feel for him
If austin dillon didnt block didnt block bowyer at daytona, it could have led to his first win of 2019. And if ryan newman enver got hit by blaney in the 500 this year, he defiantly would have won his second 500, and snap a winless streak emotianally.
This one is kinda forgotten but what if trevor bayne won the 2017 brickyard 400 if the last 10 laps finished under green he could've likely stretched fuel and won but because of the Bowyer crash it changed things up we'll never know
What about a list of forgotten/ letter known controversies that occurred during the 2010s? Like controversies that were big deals, but didn’t have quite the publicity of a spin gate. Since Im a Jimmie fan, I think of the what seems like forgotten restart controversy in 2013 with Jimmie Johnson at Dover. Montoya didn’t get going and Johnson waited, then went, but passed Montoya before the start finish line. He was black flagged, and didn’t win the race because of jumping the restart even though he had absolutely dominated it. This led to restart issues/controversies like Johnson again at Kentucky later that season, or leaders others, which led nascar to establish the “gieco restart zone”.
About the 2018 Roval, you forgot to mention how Almirola would have never made it to the round of 12, meaning the 4 SHR cars wouldn’t have been in the round of 12 AND the Round of 8. This could have potentially changed the outcome of Talladega, as I doubt SHR would have done what they did had there been only 3 cars instead of 4 still in the playoffs, and with a new winner the Round of 8 would have drastically changed, meaning it could also have affected the Championship 4. Crazy stuff
2020 things 1.What if The Daytona 500 wasn’t rained out 2. What if Ryan Newman didn’t crash in the Daytona 500 3. What if COVID didn’t happen 4. What if Jimmie didn’t crash from the lead at Darlington 5. What if Chase Elliott wasn’t wrecked by Kyle Busch at Darlington 6. What if Chase Elliott didn’t pit in the 600 7. What if Jimmie didn’t get penalized in the 600 8. What if Chase Elliott didn’t wreck Joey Logano at Bristol 9. What if Jimmie didn’t get turned by Kevin Harvick at Talladega 10. What if Jimmie didn’t get COVID 11. What if Quin Houff didn’t crash at Texas 12. What if Jimmie didn’t get turned by Brad at Kentucky 13. What if Cole Custer was blocked at Kentucky 14. What if Denny Hamlin didn’t blow a tire at the Brickyard 15. What if Jimmie wasn’t involved in that crash at Daytona that took him out 16. What if Matty D missed the playoffs And I’m done writing this jeez
You missed the 2014 fall Texas race. What if Jeff Gordon would have chosen the inside line on one of the final restarts and he would have won which would have allowed him to compete for a championship in 2014? That fall Texas race is, by his own admission, the one race in his career he wishes he could have back.
Here are three moments I could think of: 3. Jeff Gordon winning his 5th championship in 2014. I know he could have won it if it wasn't for Brad Keselowski. I still think he should have been at least at five time champion, what could have been. 2. Clint bowyer winning the 2012 NASCAR championship. Imagine him winning the championship for Michael Waltrip Racing, what it could have done for the organization if it did happen. Maybe they still be around today, maybe Martin Truex Jr. been a champion a lot sooner than he did. We would never know because of Jeff Gordon fault,he would never have another chance as he did that year ever again 1. Martin Truex winning the 2018 NASCAR championship. Think about it, it would have meant that he had won back to back championship for Furniture Row, a underfunded team. Think about it, sure Alan Kulwick did also win a championship with a underfunded team but unlike him he had the chance to defend his title. It would have shown that they did deserve the championship and it wasn't just a fluke. They would been the first underfunded team to be back to back champions. Imagine what that could have meant for NASCAR. If only this thing could have happened. Like if you wish these things happen.
what if David Ragan not only wins the 500, but also beats Harvick to the line if Harvick would have ran out of gas at Charlotte? 3 wins on the season would definitely have put Ragan in the Chase that year as a Wild Card and he definitely would have had a contract available for him at Roush the next year. but the expectations of him in 2012 would have been astronomical and he probably wouldn't have lived up to them
