No it wasn't Bouzouki. It was "Laouto". Comes from "La Oud". "Oud" is an older instrument with has a fretless fingerboard, like a violin. "Laouto" has a fretted fingerboard. They are both Traditional instruments.
In Eurovision you have a bit of everything, that's what makes it such an unique show. Every year you find great vocalists, not so great vocalists, amazing performances, joke entries, songs that will make you cry, songs that will make you dance, songs that will make you laugh, songs that will make you go like 'wtf am I watching?' all in one show. Eurovision is all about what the performances as a whole made you feel, of course that if the vocals are completely off it's not gonna be nice but it's not necessary to have the best voice in the world to make a whole continent vote for you. This year was actually a great example, Finland won the televote and the vocals were nothing special compared to Estonia's or Italy's entries, for example. I would love to see more Eurovision reactions for sure, just keep in mind that most of those artists won't sound like those amazing singers you're used to react!
Great choice. After this video you should definitely react to the full live version of Anna Vissi's "Everything" performance. She is such a powerhouse!!!
Personally I'd love him to react to her early work like ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGr3-2ncnKI.html or live TV appearances from 1973
Well, I am Greek and it's not hard to say that the best song we ever had in Eurovision, was BY FAR Alcohol is free by Agathonas and Koza Mostra, 13:47.
Met them in London as they played in my gay club right before Eurovision . They had so much fun, especially Agathonas . I didn’t think they d like it so much or feel comfortable as Greeks are not being known for being gay friendly and all that . Such cool , polite people though . They had a blast and ended up staying all night until we closed . Love them . Definitely one of the best Greek entries . Up there with Loukas Yiorkas .
@@CTSimpWeird to hear this, as Greece is one of the most popular lgbtq holiday destinations in the world. I've worked In tourism for over 15 years and I've never had a gay person complain to me about anything. I, myself own a gay themed gift Etsy shop now, and I'm not even gay! Maybe you haven't visited us enough!❤ I'm jealous you got to see the band live!
I enjoyed your reaction. I consider it very authentic. It is also very interesting to watch your reaction on songs that either were instantly catchy or had very nice vocals. I think you were spot on most of the times !
The beautiful girl from ANTIQUE (2001) is the GODDESS OF POP in Greece Helena Paparizou who won in 2005! Very famous in Scandinavia too with many sales in albums as Antique and as Helena Paparizou too.
Most greeks hated that song and we never really liked the singer. 😂 Gossip time: She was the winner of a music show that hosted the channel her uncle owned... Scandal!
Eurovision is not a singing contest so I understand if you don't like the vocalists that much. It is a song contest and is primarily about musical compisition and stage performance but vocals do play a factor as well.
The singer with the greatest voice, who took part in Eurovision representing Greece, was Marinella. The first one in 1974. The song didn't help her vocal abilities to be shown. You have reacted to her. I don't remember whether this was previously or not. I guess the first. Other great voices and highly accomplished singers were: Anna Vissi, Mariza Koch, Sophia Vossou, Kaiti Garbi, Helena Paparizou and Sakis Rouvas. Probably in that order too. I forgot to mention Elpida and maybe Tania Tsanaklidou as well. And also one could propose Pascalis and Yianna Terzi. Yiannis Dimitras also had a huge voice and at the same time a very sentimental one. But he is not well known in Greece. He collaborated with Manos Hatzidakis in an album. Hatzidakis is arguably the most important composer in Greece. The composer of the song of the film "Never on Sunday". Hatzidakis won an Oscar for that song in 1961. He didn't show to receive his trophy, and later renounced it ! He is, at least, one of the three more important composers. The others being Mikis Theodorakis (Zorba composer) and Vasilis Tsitsanis. Here is Hatzidakis not showing to receive his Oscar trophy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LrOvatn7xlA.htmlsi=2zxObRSSEgczOut_
Most of the singers we have sent are great vocally and some of them are on top of their genre and the industry as a whole. A couple of them are praised worldwide. Some of them are complete unknowns that nobody knows how they ended up representing us (very shady business behind the scenes, especially the 2023 entry). Some of the more talented people could have placed better or even won if they had better songs. Some of our 3rd placements were the clear winners of their years but they were robbed due to political manipulations and strategic voting. Our stagings are consistently (with some notable exceptions) epic to the degree that we lend our directors and choreographers to other countries for Eurovision, with epic results as well and top placements too. when we are good we are really good.
You have to really listen 1991, 2002, 2011 and 2018 voices and passion they were amazing. Actually Marinela, Koch, Elpida and many others are amazing singers but their genre will be absolutely strange for you to listen.
Maria Elena Kyriakou, the one you liked so much, is a Greek Cypriot singer. She won the first "the Voice of Greece" in 2014. She was sent in Eurovision in 2015. Afterwards is close to nobody ever heard of her since! So it's surprising to pick her up. I don't say thay she didn't perform well though, bur it is still very surprising, for all of us Greeks, for you to say that.
This was a weird choice. Eurovision is def not for everybody and it's certainly not about the vocals most of the time. With that said there are definitely some killer vocalists on there and I hope you're recommended the good ones. Don't write off Eurovision just yet!
The greatest, vocally, song ever sent in Eurovision was "Anixi" (Meaning Spring, as in the Season). It was sung by Sophia Vossou. The Saxophone player was TERRIBLE though. The original Saxophone player got sick and stayed in Greece. They found one in Italy to replace him, but he didn't manage to do it. I don't remember why now. Finally there was THIS Saxophone player who seems doesn't know ANYTHING. The performance in Eurovision was the following: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5z7aB-YHv-E.htmlsi=x4z_E0hb-UFQK1ZT
greece"s entry in 2002 with Michalis Rakintzis song S.A.G.A.P.O although it didnt suceed and it had bad stage performance it changed the eurovision contest and paved the way for lordi to win next years
Can you react too Mariah Carey make it happen live 8 2005 I believe I’m suprised you haven’t already 😅❤🙏🏽😭also her new yet old music box song that was just released!!!!!!! My fav is my prayer and then working hard I love live you see your reaction to those as well keep up the good vids
You should react to the newly released extended version of "All I live for" by mariah carey, it's totally different from the one from the rarities album. It's a must!
Since you are one of my favorite reactors when it comes to Ariana, I hope that you will react to Ariana's latest live performances, which is a set called Live from London.
