The wife should have told her husband immediately when the brother-in-law was poisoning their child's mind. She should have taken the check from the brother-in-law and showed it to him with the video and if he still didn't believe her cash the check and live off of brother-in-law's money. In the end brother-in-law got what he deserved.

It’s not that simple. There’s usually legally binding paperwork that would make it NEARLY impossible for the surrogate to get custody. The parents would have to be deemed unfit and the courts would have to decide what the best interest of the child would be.
How does Romero not even have enough money to get a cheap hotel room? He's smart enough to come up with these plans yet doesn't think to have his own bank account or at least hide some cash just in case?
It sounds like he was living off of his brother, getting by with minimal work, just the family name, and once he was kicked out, others of the family may have been informed, and he had no place to go. I mean, his whole plan in life was to take over the business after his brother retired, and just live off of the money he made, likely by driving the company into the ground.

If she's really a mama bear she would have never let anybody talk to her kid the way she let her brother-in-law talk to her kid. And the fact that she didn't even bother to tell her husband what his brother was doing I don't believe it for a second. That's when I knew it was fake. She was married to a rich man she had access to a lot of money there's no way she walked out of that house and had no access to money. This story is a little unbelievable- OP was a smart woman - at some point way didn’t she install cameras, recording g devices etc you always need documentation of charges, and just because hubby didn’t allow her back into the company didn’t she have enough experience to work elsewhere AND wasn’t her mom feeding her st some point - I’m not getting this - and way pay off the surrogate-she’s threatened with a lawsuit for being in violation of her agreement that should’ve been sufficient- but I guess money always talks lastly we’re they or weren’t they divorced- no alimony or child support????
The husband is the father I know they used a surrogate but I assume they didn't use a sperm donor as well and if she had eggs but could not carry them, it is usual to use the wife's eggs and the surrogate just carried the child to term but seem the surrogate was the donor as well but she is legally his mother and she has the right to fight for him and should get herself a lawyer the money thing is weird even if she divorces she is entitled to child support and alimony should she want it. I was going to say if they are rich with a big company they must have a law firm on retainer so how would they not have legal papers terminating parental rights from Emma to ensure she could not try to take him away at some time in the future.

It sounds dumb but i get. She had been laid low and throughout her hard times she stayed focused on her son no matter her suffering. She doesn’t want anyone else to suffer as she did. Should she tell her husband? Yes. Should she ever give the BIL more money? Not without lawyers involved. Documents need to be arranged for loan pay back and expectations of conduct on both parties. Why? Thats what stop the surrogate shenanigans on a dime. I get she is a kind person. I get her husband is hot headed and can be arrogantly aloof of people. But at the end of the day the documents are what saved them.

Well she isnt as evil an mean as he is. But i was always taught to never turn anyone away from food ot drink, no matter who it is. So im guess same reason. An she clearly knows the struggle or not eating. But she came out the bigger person. So happy she had happy ending.
