Onya mate.....I really enjoyed the first 6 minutes of this , where U broke down how toxic Eminem is and U even said some of his lyrics and explained it in detail....I'm one year younger than U ...so I grew up in the same ERA of toxic music especially American hip-hop was toxic at that time....but I believe Aussie hip-hop was heaps more positive back in the day....I grew up listening too Terra firma, Matty b , art of war , hoods etc etc....where they actually talked about real life problems and bettering yourself in their lyrics....and was about the culture...now days U just hear people rapping about guns , crime and home invasions....U don't even hear the word "graffiti" or "DJs" mentioned in today's Oz music tracks.. unless its a older head making a new track....keep making these videos bro....the government can't reach the youth...it's people like yourself and spanian who will make a difference.... spanian has so much power at the moment,,he could really re-shape the whole scene in a positive way .much love from Adelaide.... Peace
I love this series mate but I can't agree on the eminem part, compared to the current scene where it's all about being a hard kent with no artistry, song writing, word play etc but hey if you've been to jail and youve got a bit of street credit these very influential teenage kids will think your the shit, and dress like you and talk like you. I'm your age Greels and growing up the American rappers we thought were gangsters/hard kents generally weren't, apart a few. But look at all the current crop of popular US rappers who are all absolute dog shit artists but they've got 'street cred' and it's the norm to of been to jail and the bigger the criminal record the better, also bonus points if your repoing a gang, it's fucking pathetic. Labels are a major problem too, pushing all these street dudes with 0 talent to these kids. It's got to the point now and has been for a few years that image is now way more important than talent. Hip hop is in a terrible state atm, it's fucking sad to see.
hate to say it but Kerser and onefour have destroyed the Australian youths mindsets... being an eshay aint cool, stabbing kents over a postcode aint cool... yea sick yous all got paid for exploiting violence and left the youth with the mess they created. and now nothing.. no noise from any of them, no youth support and if there is, we dont know about it. Words resonate through frequencies and generates energy as it moves through minds. You're making moves for the youth and the future of our youth Greelz.. big ups
I like to hear someone around my age also speak his mind about how he is feeling about life and the influences on his perception of shit. Dead right about people having watched to many Hollywood movies. Also enjoyed learning some things about Tassie's history I never knew. Walking in the forest reminds me also of me when i was young walking through the bush just like me back in my young days. Respect for God. Don't get realer than that. Cheers Grills
bro we need to make positive music with uplifting messages and send out that frequency through the world the words we speak are a lot more powerful then we know.after i started soul searching wondering why the fuck I'm here on earthed started my healing journey i took down all my songs off youtube because they were giving out negative vibes and the songs weren't even close to how bad most are these days but i started writing uplifting bars anyway i would love to make some mad hard but positive vibe songs with you if you're keen in the future I'm from sydney its hard to find anyone who raps and isn't writing toxic bars we need to really start a positive wave of peace, love and truth in the rap scene much love keep it up my bro God bless
Tell it brother, appreciate you goin in on this stuff. Disco's actually got a fucking hectic history - it's as much protest music in origin as punk or hip hop music (and like both of them, borne from black culture which is inherently political), highly recommend a good disco history deep dive. Hard respect disco.
Thanks for doing the shadow work. We have to deprogram ourselves from this shit so we can heal ourselves and those around us and turn the boat around before it’s too late.
I think rap battling is a toxic form of hip hop and people who get involved should only get involved if they are mentally strong enough to handle the disrespect.
