The 7-4 Packers, who had been slumping badly coming into this game, come into Ford Field and fall behind by 20 to the Lions before surging back to make it a 23-21 game with just :23 seconds to go and with the ball at their own 21. Facing a huge uphill climb, the Packers desperately try and complete a pass downfield before having to run laterals as time expires, but a controversial facemask is called on the final play and the Packers are given one last chance. On one final untimed down, Aaron Rodgers heaves a bomb into the end zone that is caught by a boxing-out Richard Rodgers for the touchdown and the miraculous 27-23 victory, essentially saving the season for the Packers as they would have missed out on the playoffs had they finished 9-7 instead of 10-6 that season.
