i went the opposite route as you. was a green beignet but got bored of training foreign militaries on the art of eating. decided to join meal team six and never looked back since
This show gets better as the seasons go on , that “turn left” might be the fact that in later seasons they turn course off of full fast pace action and focus more on shedding light on tragedies veterans/service members go through
That's probably why. It's still a great show and still has fast pace scenes but they also show they're human. Kind of crazy that can be viewed as turning left.
No offense but I didn’t like that, it’s ok, I get story and the reality of life and being a operator, but I’m a huge fan in any show or movie, the training, the missions, the planning, what movie was it…. Six days, the training part and the execution of that were my favorite parts of the movie I wish had more, I liked 13 hours as well. But that had to do with desert and covert stuff and obviously the conflict it lead to. Seal team had some drama in it that….I could actually do without. I watch swat too and that was ok but then it went super political and made me sick of it. Wrong ideology for police anyways.
@@Tyborg425 Sounds like you just want a action movie tv show. Just nonstop action in one fashion or another. That's not really something anyone is going to make nor will perform well. Ask yourself this, would you watch 13 hours every week for years on end? And how many others would do that as well?
I though that was intentional and pretty okay with it, focus on what happens behind the scenes was also really good, that being said I think season 2 was my favourite in terms of action-drama ballance
The show gets pretty dramatic in the homefront aspect whenever the team isn't in the field, but the operations' portions are fire! Honestly I love the show, period, soap opera elements and all! 😅
This. The portions of the show where the team is deployed is always stellar. The home front stuff gets a little out there, but fortunately, that isn't the primary focus.
My favorite show! You guys should watch the entire season first and pick a few to review. With 22 episodes in this season you guys won’t finish for a long time
@@FNGACADEMY The action scenes are fantastic. But there's just WAY TO MUCH domestic drama, and sometimes also too much drama within the unit itself. I like it best when they're all just best friends going on cool missions. The rest I'd rather they leave out, or scale down at least. Sure, some things have real life importance, where they try to shine a light on problems that might improve the quality of the operators lives if they where fixed. I guess those can stay. But needless drama I can sure live without.
Awesome breakdown, guys! SEAL Team is my all time favorite show. I don't think the seasons take any weird turn at all. I think as the seasons go on, the story writing and the acting gets even better. When they switched from CBS to Paramount, they were allowed to cuss and swear, which at first seemed a little awkward in the acting, but then after a few episodes, seemed more natural, if that makes sense. Interesting fact: The actor who plays as the new guy, Clay Spencer, is the teenage boy in the family that Vin Diesel was protecting in the movie "The Pacifier."
As the seasons go along they do tend to lean heavier and heavier into the drama whether it be back at home or within the team but some deployment tragedy brings them back together. The combat and gear always looks great and since the switch to pramount theres more drama but also the action seems higher quality. I love the sbow my only grip is I wish they toned back some drama but no biggie
the show was always aimed at the human element in the field and at home.. the combat was just the tie-in for the story. i think too many people went into this thinking it was just another military combat show and ignored what it was really about. when the show moved to streaming and didn't have to abide by the FCC ratings they were allowed to dive into that side even more.
@sirmonkey1985 I think it'll always be the case since they have to appeal to more than a small % of us but if they can just keep it going without killing or injuring everyone or at least make more like this I'm happy
I agree. I think it's because they just want action and none of the domestic stuff. I like that it shows their home life though. It's not just going on missions and having no life.
It doesn’t “veer left” persay especially in the first few seasons but in the later ones the home front drama does turn up a bit but the operations and show tone dont overly change as far as I remember just a bit more drama regarding their lives on at home which actually manages to touch on pretty good topics like TBI, The VA and veteran suicide
I think it's pretty cool that a former CAG operator is the technical advisor for Seal Team and a former devgru operator is the technical advisor for Echo 3.
Yea Tyler Grey is literally the reason this show is so good. When they were starting production for the show, the advisors had the worst gear ever. Tyler knew it would be shit if they didn't make it as authentic as possible. He got one one of his friends that had a shit ton of high speed gear they used thought-out the show. Without Tyler and his buddy that provided every piece of gear, Buck wouldn't be reviewing this show.
It just gets more into their lives outside of operations. Shows what alot of soldiers deal with when they have been doing this shit long enough. But operations never get dull. And the characters get better and better the longer you watch the show.
I have zero idea who they're going after and why...like, there's zero character development. If you asked me to name 1 bad guy in this show, my brain would go totally blank. They all blend into eachother. There's no over-arching strategy to the show. at all. By the time you get to the last season, you just don't care anymore. at all. My main entertainment is to criticize and be angry about the scientific/PTSD misinformation. 😖😖😖😖
@@andrabook8758That’s kinda the point of the show tho. There’s always going to be another bad guy or another terror cell or whatever bc that’s just how life is. It’s not like tier one units have some big bad arch nemesis that they’re constantly at odds with and then once they kill them the world is peaceful
@@only._me right, ok....but, from a movie POV, I'm obviously not actually IN the action, right? so if you just say random names at me without any context, and no defining features......... it's like doing a batman movie and just having bad guys be: bad guy #1,#2, #3.... I don't care. I CANNOT care. What is my motivation? how do I tell them apart? The viewer cannot actually feel any connection to the story if all the bad guys are blah, blah, blah. They're just all background noise. I have no idea why anyone is doing anything, basically. It takes you out of the story completely, when the story is not structured properly. Its' not engaging anymore. I feel as bored as the actor playing Jason looks, at all times. He knows he's playing a dumb 2D character and so do I....I should not know that! The story just doesn't resonate at all with me, bc I literally have zero clue what's happening. All the episodes just blend into 1 giant mess of bullets and the most random melodrama. And that's bc the story doesn't resonate. I'm still mad his wife is *blank, blank, spoilers" in season 1 bc that's the last time I felt anything at all for this show! She was the only character who seemed to have any common sense at all. I actually felt something for that 1 character. None of the main characters are likable or relatable. And that's a problem when they're all you've got driving the show, bc there's no over-archining plot. You can totally have a character driven drama, but not with 2D characters! there's just no meat on the bones otherwise. And it gets super repetitive and boring. That's why the show is now doing that great in terms of audience engagement.
@@only._meif you want a character drama series, which is what this is basically, then you need to actually have meat on the bones for those characters. They cannot just be stereotypes. I need to understand why they're doing what they're doing. It's one thing for a movie to take you along for the ride, and it's another for them to just slap on a cool name :Navy Seals...and then ride those coat tails like there's no tomorrow. For me I liked the Zero, Dark, Thirty movie, and I watched that at about the same time as this series. That movie though, even though they had like 10 mins of screen time, it was intriguing. The dialogue was interesting. They had presence and didn't sound like a bunch of jerks at all times. I WANTED to know more. I wished they had spent more time on them. I came away with a positive experience. The tom hanks movie with the pirates.... Same. It was super cool! I loved the whole boat scene at the end, it was so well executed. I would have LOVED to know more about that type of freaking training you can do to be THAT precise with the shooting ON WATER, which is a moving environment. SUPER AWESOME! 5 stars! I wished they had more screen time. This series, has a TON of screen time, and I've never wanted to run away from a movie faster or harder. They look like morons. Like the worst possible type of morons. The kinds of dudes you have to baby sit at all times, bc they're a complete mess at all times. AND they're going to make that process the worst it can be, bc they're gonna start having a breakdown bc "why are you baby sititng them, they're grown men, DAMN IT!" It's just a mess. And it leaves you with the uncomfortable feeling that maybe the series is right....maybe they really are all just a fking hot mess at all times, and all the other movies all lied to us.
Please, please, please do the whole series! There's not a single reactor out there who's reacted to Seal Team entirely. This'll be a great ride indeed!
I get we’re here for the commentary but you gotta get a better setup instead of some inaudible scenes/dialogue from the show not even overlayed on screen with the camera just pointing at the 2 guys faces. It makes it harder to understand the context of what they’re even reacting to
I really liked how Spenser’s character developed too. I hated how much of he dick he was in the earlier seasons but later on, he matured and became the most reliable guy on the team.
SPOILER WARNING ⚠️⚠️⚠️ I hate that Max Theiriot left the show and I hate how they killed him off I personally think the show he moved to (Fire Country) is an amazing show and he's a phenomenal actor and I can't wait to see season 7 however it's not gonna be the same without Max Theiriot
Bro, I clicked on this video so fast when I saw the notification. Y'all originally got me into this show, and now I'm several seasons in and LOVE it. I will add, I also thought Jason Hayes' decision to stay and risk his team was not a good one, but he got lucky and it worked out.
Movies, shows and profiling are one thing..and then there is reality. My experiences with SEALs in Vietnam was ALL bad. SEAL teams would come into our AOs and murder a bunch of civilians and leave us the mess to clean up. If you want to really make an enemy....murder a man's children. SEAL Lt Kerry and his team murdered 23 women and children--cutting the throats of three pre-teen grand kids and their grand parents. Kerry ended up with a SEAL Meal of Honor two weeks later for a bogus mission. Special Forces Medal of Honor recipient Drew Dix had his own affair with Macuso and his team during a 54 hour battle. The SEALs took one KIA and left Drew. Mancuso told Drew SEALs were too valuable to loose in combat. I was MACVSOG CCN's logistics officer and tired getting the local SEAL Platoon at Da Nang to order us the Stoner machinegun, one of the few weapon systems we could not get through our system. Not only did I get a fat NO, they had two Stoner systems in stock as back up for their teams and refused to give them to us. I have ZERO respect for SEALs and would rely on a much better group--Army Rangers for back up. SEALS are experts at profiling and making movies, but in combat they are highly overrated. Just my opinion.
After getting out the navy last year. I agree with this post and I have no reason to doubt you. Army is better and I recommend anyone either go Army or Air force if they want to join.
The left turn isn't bad, it's them dealing with the things that most non-military people rarely see. The effects of war on a soldier and those around them. The soldier who only knows how to soldier trying to figure out what they are outside of soldiering. That's the left turn, and I believe they did it well!
I binge watched the entire series after seeing your initial review on the show. Yes, the series takes a big turn, but I thought it was an interesting take on human dynamics and some serious complexities. I got a little tired of some of the characters descending into whining--but thank God, there weren't any man buns.
The fact that I was watching the first few episodes haha and decided to see how realistic it was, seeing if your channel has reacted to this show and LITERALLY you posting this reaction today 😂 Tell me that isn't a crazy reaction Sean. Always good reactions. Cheers Sean! I just got into watching the Seal Team Show. Currently been applying to Canadian Armed Forces. Cheers from Canada, homies. ✌
Am a big Seal Team fan, I really love the show. Unfortunately the later season have really been just sad, the series started off with amazing potential and they did nail that standard for awhile. But when Season 3 came along, still having a number of good stuff however it started to shift. Season 4 onwards was really the jumping off point all the way to the bottom, now the show just focuses more on the bad soapy drama. LOL like turning it to some kind of budget action soap opera. Sigh! am still gonna keep watching for my love of the series, hoping that some day it might return to the prime seasons. But current expectations have just taught me to not even bother, really sad just how much the show has fallen of the cliff.
The way the show veers isn't because of bad writing, I think one of the actors was going on to other projects, but also the age of the operators becomes a story plot and the show tackles the degredation of their careers. Hard to say whether this is good or bad, because either it could stay in fantasy land or it could play into the drama of realism. The show chose to veer into realism.
Guy guys, what are your thoughts on Jason's character when it comes to his shooting? I've noticed that in almost every episode, when he shoots, he rarely holds his rifle properly. Buttstock always too low, barrel too high, optics are never at eye level....drives me nuts!
@@chriscrawford3809 Yes. To me it seems like he doesn't care to take it seriously. I love the show but he's been the wrong person for this role the whole time. He just doesn't fit the part, doesn't make a convincing SEAL.
the show didn't veer. The show began to use its platform to highlight personnel issues that take place within the SF community like dealing with PTS, suicide prevention, sexual assault and harassments to females in the military and support personal within SF. The way it was addressed were in real life scenarios and they did a fantastic job tying it into the story line of what not only do soldiers deal with while on deployment or on mission, but the impact of how it affects home life as well.
Hey Buck! Love that you’re also giving other MOSs some love there is always super motivated people who just don’t go down the SOF route doesn’t mean they aren’t hard chargers. Hey maybe give some love to the 11c 11b or anything in the 13 series (Artillery) some love too. 🤙
Question, if you make it through assessment and don't get selected because of "team needs", are you eligible to remain in a pool of qualified candidates if another "team or opportunity" presents itself within a reasonable amount of time or no?
The action scenes are fantastic. But there's just WAY TO MUCH domestic drama, and sometimes also too much drama within the unit itself. I like it best when they're all just best friends going on cool missions. The rest I'd rather they leave out, or scale down at least. Sure, some things have real life importance, and I guess those can stay.
Once this show went over to Paramount plus and they start saying fuck and shit I was so unreasonably happy. Should have been like that from the beginning.
I come from a military family tree, so I was always interested in military movies, shows, etc. I loved saving private Ryan but Seal Team has to be among the best series I have ever watched. I love it!
Have you looked at reviewing the show The Unit? They have one episode S1E3 where they cover CQB and covering your area. Interested to see your response. Yes this show covers more than just the Unit they cover the family back at home but still interesting to see your reaction to the show.
Don't sell yourself short man, you're more like the Gucci version of Brendan Schaub, bc Brendan Schaub is already Dollar store Brendan Schaub. You're much better and more funny than that. Lol
Dude. You should watch Special Ops Lioness. Im gungho as fuck right now and im only 18mins in. Get this. I can do 25 Pull ups. Straight Pipe line to the hardest pipe swingers!!
It's not so much that at some point the show goes bad, it is that at a certain season the ratio is way off. I call it the Oprah Winfrey ratio: there's a certain percentage of the show that introducs emotional background storylines, presumably to also attract a female audience (or at least enough for women to watch the show with the men who are interested in it). But that should at most be 20% of the show. Unfortunately, at a certain season it starts to become 60% or more. WAY too much for what is ultimately a show supposed to be about top tier combat. I see it the same way with the UFC, of which I am also a fan: If you start having more than 10 to 20% of the fights be women's mma, then it starts to become super boring. If I watch one of the female MMA fights for every 4 or 5 of the male fights, I find it acceptable. And definitely not two women's fight in a row. If the ratio goes off from there , then I will not be happy as a consumer. This show is no different. It's an action show that has jumped the shark in the sense that it forgot it was predominantly an action show. And it's starting to build back-to-back Oprah Winfrey story lines without enough of the action. Straight up.
Ngl, the show is a little rough at times. Season 2 had a perfect ending, all neatly tied up, which they then had to unwrap in a hurry because Season 3 was suddenly renewed - and then the showrunner got fired during Season 3, and then Covid hit and it had to cut off in a hurry, so it was a little rough. Season 4 was good, within the limitations of a post-Covid season and shorter episode run, Season 5 starts out a bit iffy but improves a lot after the jump to Paramount+, while Season 6... Season 6 wasn't bad per se, but it definitely felt a lot more uneven than prior seasons. I didn't really feel it the same way. But when the emotional beats hit in Season 6, goddamn do they fucking hit. I still watched every episode and I am looking forward to Season 7. It's the only American TV show that I actually care to follow, these days.
So I am sure you will figure it out as the show goes but here there intelligence officer, Mandy Ellis is CIA but permanently assigned to Bravo Team (at least until she makes a bit of an issue for the agency and is pulled from the field). I have no idea as to the realism of that situation and I doubt DEVGRU or CIA would be open to sharing the exact details of how they work with each other.
Ok, FNG. I got one for you. I've begun watching Lioness. Pretty interesting, it has Zoe Saldano and Nicole Kidman in it. It's an episodic show, It's in season 1 and Episode 5. if at all possible I would like for Buck and the guys to get caught up and review episode 5. It's pretty good. I'm a bigger fan of Seal Team, but its going to be awhile before the new season starts. Hopefully, you'll get to it, if not, no big deal.
Recently came across your channel enjoying your videos, If at all possible I would love to watch your reaction to seal team episode 3's infil and op :).
Not what others were talking about but episodes 11 and 12 of the first season were so bad I was going to stop watching the show. Thankfully episode 13 went back to normalcy.
Spencer has the best character arc, at least I found it the most interesting and complex. I hated him the first couple seasons and by the fifth season he’s one of my favorites
I've seen all 6 seasons and I honestly don't think it "veers left", but it does becomes clear after a few seasons that they definitely run out of ideas. Things get really repetitive and It really becomes more soap opera than badass gunfights and action.
I really like seeing you guy react to the show and thank you for puting the episode numbers in the title. a whole playlist would be great for each o the reactions you do to find them all better. seperate seals fromthe unit from reacher for example.
I don’t believe the show really deviate a whole lot, but if it does, it’s because they went from watching it on CBS to Paramount+, and that was season four the deviation was the fact that they decided to talk more like operators and cuss like operators do, and not a whole lot of people took to Kailee to that.
I'd really like to watch you guys react to 'Das Boot'! Please, if you haven't seen this epic 80ies war movie go have a look. And tell us what you think of the submariners interaction from the military and the human perspective. Some say it never got captured more realistic. Thank you in advance! 🙏🏼
Hey Buck im currently attached to GSB and get alot of questions about support MOS working with SFG. Can you do a video covering how they help ODA's and what it was like for you working with them.
I think most think that it veers left during Covid time when there was less action so the vets behind the show were pushing more for their advocacies. It does veer right again once it hits paramount plus though. A bit more raw and authentic. Somewhat darker, but it’s a glimpse to the harsher reality where not everything is sexy cqb. Still love it better than ever and can’t wait for S7 soon Quite frankly, you don’t even need to do any other show for review. There’s a lot of episodes worth reacting to, heck you can do all episodes of all the seasons. It’s that good.
Fix the audio to make it match with your voice sounds, tired of not being able to hear what is being said on the show you are reacting to. Tiring to up the volume then lower it when you guys start to talk
It gets more intense as the series progresses. In fact, I can no longer watch it at night because it ramps me up😱. In my opinion the lead as Jason was miscast.
