in this video you guys talk about how CAG has "free thinker, rogue teams" and "by the books" teams, and that's so interesting because later in the show, season 1 episode 6, bravo team has to work with charlie team and the difference between bravo being the free thinker team and charlie being the by the books is very clear, and I always thought it was weird, but its cool to hear that its actually another point of accuracy that they got right!

Kurt the fact that you havent seen the show since its gone onto paramount should be a crime. After its gone to paramount the show has gotten incredibly better and the topics on the show have expanded to show the realities of being an operator post theater. 10/10 recommend checking the seasons exclusively to paramount out. Seal Team CBS can be corny as hell at times but it's always a fun watch. Especially the last 2 seasons.
@tila99
@tila99 Год назад
The last two seasons felt different cause Spencer's actor was planning to leave... so they had to figure out a way to get him out the story... they tried the officer/politics route but it didn't work and that cause the shift in dynamic within the team. I think it's accurate cause even though he was B6, he was essentially B3 and sometimes B1 when necessary. He was the soul of the team. He helped and stood up for so much of the team that they really felt like he was a blood brother. I feel like they replaced him well enough with the other operator (I forgot his name) and I'm interested to see how they continue the series. I admit it did feel off and I think the actor's departure plus covid fueled that feeling.

@@tila99 losing Clay Spenser/Max Theriot sucked but I can’t blame him for wanting to do Fire Country as the main character. In some ways it makes it more realistic cuz everything pointed to Clay taking over as Bravo 1 and he really outshined the rest the last few seasons… but real life isn’t scripted. I’m sure plenty of teams’ heir apparent has been KIA or something and they gotta deal with things not going as they were “supposed” to. Sonny’s development will be interesting w/o Clay to lean on… Jason too. I hope Brock and Trent get larger roles along with an extended arc working with a partner force (only if they find a couple of technical advisers that were real life members of that partner force), maybe GROM.

This was easily one of the best B&B episodes of recent memory... Partly because I love when Kurt and Sean get together for a review, because the chemistry is perfect and their shared background clearly benefits the conversation and analysis of the film/show being reviewed. I also think this particular episode was exceptionally strong because you guys (finally!) reviewed SEAL TEAM, and I had been looking forward to watching your review of this particular series given what I had heard about it; namely, that it was a better example of the genre, and that Tyler Grey's participation had had a significant positive impact on the all levels of the show's production... And based on this B&B episode, I think the show definitely did NOT disappoint.. and now I need to go and watch it for myself, because it does indeed look pretty awesome. Thanks for yet another great episode, guys... I hope all is going well with you and yours, and wishing you continued success with FNG Academy.

the first few episodes are the best ones, after that it goes downhill fast and gets super formulaic. My prediction is that you're gonna end up being disappointed, unless you really want to support the show bc it hires veterans. I'm not really against that, it's a good cause, but I would rather they had made a better show than try to bank on people's general good will towards veterans. Personally, I hate how dumb and formulaic they made it. It feels like every other ''military movie" done entirely by non-military people.
@andrabook8758
@andrabook8758 Год назад
Based on the beginning of the show, it felt more novel and complex/realistic....and then it immediately goes downhill. I felt super cheated by this show. I thought it had potential, and they just totally missed that opportunity. And bc the first few episodes are ok, it's like they actively tried to make it crappy. They knew how to make it good, but just went "NOPE! This is too much effort, fk it..." and then it turned to 100% formulaic sh*t. I knew how every episode was going to go in the last season in terms of episode archs and character ''development". It's so stupid.

BUT, i had a 1SG for an Iraq deployment that grew up in Ranger Battalion, then ended up as an ROTC instructor at MIT, and was getting a degree from Havard. dude was on a whole other level than anyone i've ever seen in the Army. so we were getting a mission brief from our LTC for this big mission, and it was stupid AF. 1SG Nunweiler was like "sir, i just wanna say you plan is stupid. we're gonna do it....but i wanted to let you know your plan was stupid". and i was like in the corner like "...........did he just say what i think he just said?!" but, there was no collaboration with the mission planning. apparently everyone down to the lowest Private can have input in the AAR...but not the mission planning.

Really enjoy your take on DEVGRU. Nice to see you don't trash it when it gets off a bit. Side note.. when you can take a look at Special Ops Lioness. I think you'll enjoy Sheridans take on SA Ops. OUTSTANDING work gentlemen.

@@Thejeweler101 why not SIX? It’s not as good as Seal Team but worth watching once at least imo

Hey, Sean and Kurt. Yesterday, I just continued bingeing. I’m now coming up on S1E11. Great so far. Loved Sonny’s Red Dawn reference on Episode 9. Say, any chance you guys are gonna review 2 old British Army shows, Soldier Soldier and Ultimate Force? I’d really love for you to do those! P.S. I’m getting Top Gun’s Maverick vibe towards Clay Spenser (well, the SEAL version) XD

Back in the mid to late 2000s I saw a training video which used the hood technique for hand-to-hand combat training. You have the hood on someone (usually attached to a hook on the ceiling with paracord so it can be pulled off by the cadre) and you provide them a weapon or just their hands, then when the hood is removed they're instantly faced with a scenario they have to process. Sometimes you go to swinging right away, sometimes it's a threat assessment. Sometimes you're surrounded by 4 guys and you're not expected to win. But you have to react appropriately. It trains instantaneous reflexes while also reinforcing your brain's ability to process threats/non-threats before acting. Very good training. Never thought to put it into CQB scenarios like this.

Once you get to episode 6 it makes sense what you talked about, having teams by the book and having the out of the box thinkers 👌🤭🤫
