Came back to this video because I remembered Hank mentioning his aspirational mohawk. What I would give to see him quote John's "welcome to Crash Course... with the 40 yr old mohawk!"
I once asked my little brother what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said "A dad". I tried to explain that i meant a job and he said "It IS a job if you do it right."
I mean, I don't know your family situation, but having kids at 20 seems like a bit of a rushed decision, no? It's nice to have some time to enjoy your young adulthood without that kind of responsibility. But hey, I don't know **shrug**
huda abdulla While that would be fun John (and presumably Hank) has decided to keep his children out of the videos for safety reasons and he wants them to make the decision whether their lives are private or public.
huda abdulla yes! Like I totally respect John's family's privacy and he can chose to show or not show his kids on camera, but we saw so much of Henry but none of Alice!
i totally understand if you want to keep your children off camera for privacy reasons, but please consider having them write the script for a future episode. the world needs to know more about monkeyturtles!
The "just in case" plates are there for if you share dishes, so everyone can have a plate of their own. If you order individually, they take the plate away
Truck Driver 101 I just read Looking For Alaska John.... great book!! But now... I'd quite like to un-read it... it's quite amazing how a book can really affect your life and since then your life it likeee before and after the book.
IceMetalPunk The current president would think the premise and ideals of Nerdfighteria are ridiculous and would therefore refuse to name a nerdfighter baby
This will likely get buried, but I loved Hank's comment about getting a job that when you are 40 you can get a mohawk. I'm 42 and I have that job and so I did, in fact, get a mohawk (or as we say at the Fox Den a stripe).
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that John is just spilling over with positive energy, healthy vibes and completely unironic joy. I watched this video 3 times for the sheer pleasure of seeing two people I care about being so happy.
When Hank starts asking how can I be the very best, John looks like he's about to say something very heartfelt and profound, and then it all comes crashing down with "like no one ever was"
For some reason I cannot explain, this is my absolute favorite vlogbrothers video. I've watched it so many times I think I nearly have the entire thing memorized.
At around 00:32 my video froze to load and all I could think of while waiting was: Aaw, I just love those guys. Seriously the two of you provide me with a kind of glee and joy that doesn't come very naturally to me otherwise. Thank you so, so much for that.
Next time they should ask Orin what questions they should ask. "Good morning Hank. It's Question Tuesday where I answer real questions from real nerdfighters about bluhhhh"
This video had a uniquely good energy and pacing to it. The live chemistry between Hank and John is something we don't get to experience that often. I like it.
I want to thank you both for putting these videos up. I recently lost my youngest brother to depression and it came out of the blue it feels like and watching you to interact about almost nothing and having fun reminds me of the good times with Michael and while that hurts a lot it is a good hurt. I know I will never see him again but at least we loved each other. I know a lot of people who can't even say that much. Once again thank you for helping me remember the good times.
John, could you, maybe talk about the dutch elections? We have a pretty complex system with lots of parties and an explanation vid (for all non-dutch people) would be helpful in explaining the election to others
"Doesn't all value derive from humans?" *Proceeds to turn and looks at the natural landscape behind them.* "Mmm... no." *Assigns a positive value to that landscape in their human judgement of it.*
Someone probably already informed you - but that 'plate' that is a place holder at a fancy restaurant is called a 'Charger' or 'Charger Plate' and often remains until the dessert course is served in a full course dinner - or removed if they are too expensive or decorative and would be damaged by placing other serving plate on top.
Maybe it's the lighting, but I think 100 Days is really starting to show. Something about John's face in this video is really healthy and lively looking, aside from the reunion joy.
This is possibly the finest composed +vlogbrothers video yet. The shot was perfect, the body language made the video feel so much more real and personal. Have fun in the desert, guys!
This video is for some reason very warm and touching. You both look happy and authentic and we all love being part of this community. Thank you for being real.
I love that they've been doing this for over 10 years and brought a camera on this walk.... but didn't think to bring a tripod. So they used hank's wallet and two rocks.
"Talking to Alice is like talking to a bad A.I.... I asked her a question and she answered a different question that is kinda on the same topic" Hey, that's pretty much interviewing Kellyanne Conway
This is fast becoming one of my top five vlogbrothers videos. I've watched it about six times now and the effect has not changed. I can't stop smiling every time I watch it.
you guys are both so funny and hearing about john's kids makes me so happy and warm inside but you're also so intelligent while joking around and talking about ordinary things it's so neat
I loved this. Henry and Alice are hilarious. It was so, so good to see both of you and catch up last month! Also, Rory spent this whole video playing peekaboo with me behind a blanket and squealing with joy whenever he noticed that I could see him. Little kids are the best.
0:35 - The way John emphasises the "s" of "millimeters" and the way Hank emphasises the "s" of "units" immediately after, is one of the identifiable characteristics of the way you both speak. I mean that in a nice way. I have an older brother and people can't tell our voices apart on the phone.
