For the people who were asking for the outtakes from today's question tuesday, here's the outtakes from a PREVIOUS question tuesday that's been sitting on my hard drive!
I love how Hank put his glasses on over his eye mask at the exact same moment as John put his on over his sunglasses even though he couldn’t see, sibling synchronicity.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
These brothers claim they are not funny, yet by the end of this video, one is wearing sunglasses because “they make him look cool” and the other is wearing a Cinnamon Toast Crunch sleepmask because “he was jealous of John’s eyewear” I rest my case, your honor
Green brothers: We can't be silly anymore because we have to be authentic to the earnest and serious elder statesman we have become. Also Green Brothers: This isn't a fanny pack, it's socks. Where's the fanny pack? I don't know because I'm wearing a cinnamon crunch eye mask.
Not gonna lie, John in dark sunglasses subtlety bragging about how successful he is was much more badass than I ever thought he could be. They would look better with black frames though I think. I kinda prefer regular nice dad John though.
"I'm gonna put on this fanny pack these are socks, I cant see anything!" This had me cackling so hard my cat jumped off my lap and scratched my leg with her tiny knife claws THANKS 😂
I kindof love that Hank doesn't switch to Hankschannel to watch stuff like the marblelympics, and especially for the unnamed hatewatching and let those recommendations be John's
I love this video. It’s so cute to see you and John enjoying each other’s company and hanging out together. I hope you both have a lovely day and continue creating beautiful memories with each other
I love how Hank had to say "I don't know if you've heard, but I am a slightly bigger deal than you" after johns "and look how my career has suffered" flex😂😂
I was totally expecting it to be from today's video, but this is much better bc I had forgotten about the Cinnamon Toast Bath Robe and now am in awe of the hilarity
I'm known as the premier fashionista of my community, yet I unironically think John looks cool in those sunglasses. He looks even more impressive considering that most guys in sunglasses present an air of undeserved self-confidence and a desperation for superiority over others--yet John is clearly just enjoying the world around him. Their blue frame, paired with the dark, long-sleeved plaid shirt, shows that he isn't concerned with putting on some hyper-masculine display. It's not like he's wrapped in a black leather jacket with the sleeves torn off. His hair and beard are unstyled and slightly unkempt, but still comfortably presentable. As he's clean and washed, their trace messiness is clearly from thoughtful wear, not neglect. They help to bring his entire look together: casual, functional, fun, and individual. It's hard to take one look at this sunglassed man and think anything but, "Now here's a guy who's down for a courteous amount of shenanigans and doesn't care what anyone else thinks, as long as they don't find him to be disruptive or disrespectful!" Adding Hank to the scene brings all of this home. Hank styles his hair according to current trends, keeps no visible facial hair, and wears a black t-shirt with serious, black-framed glasses. This all shows a similar awareness of what others think, while still defying those trends in personal ways: he betrays the serious look with a constant smile on his face, and of course, his brother's face on his own chest imposed onto a cartoon pizza, labeled. Relating back to John, considering Hank as an accessory to John's own appearance shows that John has succeeded in becoming regarded by others as respectable, yet fun, while also surrounding himself with similar-minded others. They've achieved a perfect balance of self-awareness and silliness, counter-culture and courtesy. I give John's plastic sunglasses five stars.
I remember hearing John tell that story about his dad’s eyesight in one of the very first vlogbrothers videos I ever saw. I had just read TFIOS and didn’t even know who Hank was yet. For some reason it stuck with me and I always remembered it. So surreal to hear it again, years later. Fast forward to now and I’ve read both of their books, watched countless vlogbrothers videos, listen to Dear Hank and John regularly, and even met Hank on the paperback tour a couple weeks ago. It’s been a wild ride!
I live an extremely lonely life, and this serves to substitute it on the most painfully lonely days. My brain is convinced that you are my friends, and that I am having a social experience. No other RU-vidrs inject this illusion into me as effectively.
You know.....the RU-vid algorithm has many, many flaws, but occasionally it comes up with a tiny flash of perfect genius. I don’t know how it knew that I needed to rewatch this particular video right now, today, but it was 100% spot on. Watching Hank and John just messing around and egging each other on has left me feeling so much lighter and happier than I was just a few minutes ago :) Odds are against this particular comment on this two year old video being noticed, but I really do hope that they both know how much of a positive impact they have on so many people. Not just in the big things (although those are awesome), but sometimes just in the little moments. I’m going to head in to class to teach in a couple hours in a far better mood than if I hadn’t watch the Green brothers being a bit silly, and my students will have a better class for it and leave feeling happier about their day as well, and hopefully pass that happy feeling along to those they interact with next. A lovely chain reaction of good things, for which I really do have to thank John and Hank Green :)
I noticed at a camp I worked at this summer that dabbing has sort of trickled down; it was most popular with the 6-10 year olds rather than the teenagers. (Although admittedly it wasn't a huge sample set.)
I truly feel like a secret sibling a lot of the time when they joke around like that. I also feel like they perfectly express the logical and irrational (ever evolving) personalities inside of my head; just sometimes, but it’s validating because I respect them both so much. Thank you guys for letting us into your life for so long. And thank you for Vidcon, and P4A, and Evil baby Orphanage (though that was a confluence of ideas), and Crashcourse, Scishow, and Nerdfighteria. Thank you both for writing novels too because you got me back into reading. After 10 years of struggling to read, I am reading as a hobby again. Okay having never written a comment before I obviously have gushed. *happy dancing* I just like you guys! Thanks Green brothers.
this was such a delight to watch. like... this brought me so much joy. y'all don't need to try to be funny, i assure you. just being yourselves is plenty wholesome and entertaining. love y'all, dftba
I love how this video started out normal, got existential for a moment then looped back into utter silliness while Denying it's silliness. Quality entertainment that you can only get in a Vlogbrothers related video, or maybe I'm just out of touch.
Ah! I remember that story! I love that story! Also it's hilarious you retold something in the very same video where you said you'd never run out of things to talk about lol
Thank you for being real. I am so glad to be out of touch most of the time. When I'm not its sort of sad. Glad to be out of touch :) Good point about the headlines.
