I was at this show. So the story behind this is apparently Mike jumped at roughly around the end of the first verse. The neck of his Bass hit some sort of pole above him and smashed the neck into his nose at full force. It held up the show for about...I dunno. 10 minutes or so? Billie Joe's "acoustic" version of Redundant was great.
Man, I thought someone threw a bottle at him and that's why Billie were saying "are you really punk or just because the cameras are on?" Thanks for explaining the fact!

I remember watching this on TV when it first came out. I was just a kid then, and I thought the nosebleed on stage was the coolest thing I had ever seen.
***** I watched it live as well back in the day. This show and the Live at Edgefest show (broadcasted on HBO) got worn out on my VHS tape. These guys were a blast to watch on TV... and finally got to see them play live (in person) in 1999. What a blast!

Yep, Billie did say "the cocaine" at 3:34, but I'm assuming it was just a joke. Otherwise it could be true. But do keep in mind Billie's drug of choice was meth. He quit meth in 1995, as you can read in an interview from 1995. Maybe he did do some cocaine for this show. This looks like maybe 1996? 1997? 1998?

That's why mike is my favorite bass player and green day was the coolest group of guys back then ..all that mattered to them was giving the fans a good show and Mike hung in there like a champ

When I listen to Black Veil Brides I feel like I can be whoever I want to be. When I listen to My Chemical Romance I feel kinda pumped. When I listen to Green Day, I feel at home, I feel like this weird feeling of nostalgia and a warm homey feeling =) I can't explain it, but it's there.
Mike is so badass, slaps himself in the face with a bass, is clearly dazed, plays every note, continues to backup sing and then apologises. Best bassist.
damn, i love Billie's screams during this era. Wish he had done them more often! He could front a hardcore band just as a vocalist if he wanted to haha would've loved to see a 90's/00's Billie Joe do that as a side project
One of my friends told me after Green Day's success that Mike donated 2,000 bucks to Food not Bombs kitchen at a punk fest in Dallas. I believe it Green Day will always be true to themselves and punk ideals
