Enjoy this video of one of the most unique building systems I have worked with. Invented and patented by Don Grieb, AIA it has been a wonder to build with. No need for heavy equipment except for the concrete pumping. It is energy efficient, while being almost earthquake proof, fire resistant, hurricane proof and resistant to flooding. It is easy to learn and very cost effective. No need to build with wood or concrete blocks, this system is ten times stronger than wood and can go up fast.
Some people get lucky! For example in Worcester UK there are some old houses that are built on top of red sandstone. All one has to do is to buy a Kango electric jackhammer and get digging! I went to a wedding reception in such a room. It was fitted with heavy duty washable industrial carpet so if people spilled their drinks it didn't really matter. There was also an AGA cooker down there! The rest of the house had valuable antiques and was like a museum so it was not really suitable for boozy guests. Diamond drilling and sawing creates less noise than the impact method but it is slower. It might be a better choice if there are adjoining properties.
Can this be done using this method for 3 floors ( Basement , Ground , 1st floor ) 3 Floors in total? OR would this not surport another layer on top ? Very neat method.
Dan Dwyer I am interested in a house with a basement and two storeys. What can you tell me about the designs you have? You have floor plans? And what are the costs? Thank you.
Some builders now are building high-rise structures, They need some engineering to meet local and other regulations, but 3story structures are simple and standard.
+laserbird28 First, What state do you live in? Second, Do you have a contractor already? Third, Would you consider coming to a workshop and becoming your own contractor? Email me at: grbuildingsystems@gmail.com with your reply, Thank you
+Deisy Jimenez Yes, I am sure you could in Rocky Point. Our houses would be less weight and you may not have to build such a large a deep foundation as those I have seen there.
+Dan Dwyer that is very interesting, I'm thinking of building down here but probably in a couple of years and I loved your style of building and especially because I want a basement :)
+Deisy Jimenez Put my name in RU-vid and look at the other videos. We do a workshop 3 times a year for DIY'ers. You may be interested. Send an email to the grbuildingsystems@gmail.com and I will get you on a list to keep informed of the next workshop. Thanks, Dan
Why would you use music with out-of-time piano/harpsichord? Unless the lead part was meant to be out of time with the rest of the song? I dont know. But it was awful. The video on the other hand was quite good...
I have gotten some phone calls and emails about the basement system. For those of you that are interested in building your own basement or having one built. Email me at grbuildingsystems@gmail.com I would love to help you with your project.
