I love the garden! If you have a little bit of space you should look into creating a native pollinator garden of plants native to your area. Insect populations are rapidly on the decline, but small backyard areas of native plants and can look beautiful and be super beneficial to wildlife not to mention the great vibes they bring. I think for the trees your best best would be to use rope to tie things to the tree. Maybe make some wooden flat face you could nail things into that you just tie to the tree?

Hi Ivy, in an earlier episode you showed a stone with a hole that you picked up at the beach somewhere. Where I come from we call it a witch-stone. It is an all purpose stone that you can fill with all kinds of protection. BUT - it is also remarkably good to show you the truth of something, especially if you are biased about something or person. So if you want to know the truth but your energies are involved in a person - just look through the stones hole at the person and then focus how you feel in that moment - here the truth will be revealed. It works, test it...

What a lovely garden! Thank you for the tour 😊. You can improve the flavor of raspberry leaves by fermentation before you dry them. You are wilting and bruising them, then allowing them to oxidize for some hours in a warm, humid environment. This oxidation allows the leaves to develop a darker color, and a slight flavor and aroma of a raspberry.

In LOVE with your garden!!!! Thank you for the tour and for the tip about the raspberry tea!!!! A great tip about keeping the squirrels away is to get Irish Spring soap, grate it on the large side of a grater and sprinkle where you suspect squirrels are-it will keep them away-they HATE the smell of it-it has worked for me in my garden....And good luck on your finals....much love to you! xoxoxoxo

Adore your tree grove( I have one of gum trees) I think it will be enchanting and I can't wait to see what you do. In my mind, I keep seeing a gnome peeking around the tree. I hope you find some creative things for that space. How about a mushroom table and chairs for the fairys and gnomes to have tea at? You can find China children's tea sets in thrift stores. I would use twine you can just tie it around the tree. And for the ladder part i would just attach wood popsicle sticks or used paint stick cut it into section, drill some hole and knot the twine to create a ladder. You could do this both horizonal or vertical, you could even make a ladder coming down from the top one going down tot ground! Good luck on you finals.

Love this video! Part of me is definitely a green witch! I loved the tour around your yard and home. Everything is so beautiful and peaceful inside and outside! I love the raspberry hedge! It’s so green and gorgeous! I also love the Eucalyptus! I’m going to need to do some research to see if it would grow in my zone. The fairy “Forest” is a great idea! I would definitely hollow the stump out and make it a fairy hang out! Fae love little charms and bobbles! Go to your local craft store and grab some tiny bells, charms and bobbles to entice the Fae to set up shop in your forest! Anything tiny and shiny is good. Michaels used to have a line of Fae items. They were so CUTE! I don’t think I’d hot glue on the trees … I would use this stuff called museum putty and see if things would stick that way. It is actually used in museums to stick things together … It doesn’t harm anything. I don’t know how it would do in the rain, but you could give it a try and see. I love your idea of the ladder and the little ropes between the trees … Maybe you could macrame the little bridges to give them a little depth and you could incorporate some bobbles into the macrame. Macrame is really easy … Even I can do it 😂 LOVED the tour! I want your raised beds! This was my thing ❤❤❤ Thank you!

I love the idea of a little village. I think you might be able to use some jute cord maybe for rope to build your bridge. I think it's a more natural fiber so it will be a good material. I think faeries would have that type of rope? I don't know. It's just an idea. I think it will be very cool regardless of what materials you choose.

You must be in the middle of finals as I post my comment. Good luck! Love the living room spell. I wish I could have eucalyptus in my backyard but I’m just outside the hardiness zone! Maybe it would be worth a try, since you mention you are too. I have bulbs that survive year to year and shouldn’t in my zone, so I wonder! I didn’t know about raspberry leaves. I am really sensitive to changes in my hormones so I’m intrigued to try the tea. Berries generally do well in my area and I eye those little plants every year but haven’t picked any up since I want to install raised beds in my yard. I LOVE the rotted stump.
@soulstarcompass
@soulstarcompass Год назад
For your rope bridge idea, I would personally use macrame rope 😊. You can make it a complete rope bridge, or get popsicle sticks/tongue depressors (or better yet, collect downed twigs) and wrap the ends with the rope to make the bridge. You can secure the bridge to the trees by tying rope at each end around the tree, just keep it loose enough to hang on to the tree without it being too tight and damaging the tree. I have done something similar before and my trees are happy, healthy, and mega-thriving even 3 years out from the original project. Also, keep your eyes out to make sure little critters don't accidentally get caught up in it if you are doing slats of any sort 😊💕. Good luck on your finals!

Love your idea for the gnome condos. For your outside rope bridges I wouldn’t use hot glue. If you don’t want to nail, I would tie it on with either jute (which will degrade over time) or clothesline, which will not. Your garden is lovely. Your fairy idea w/ bridge between trees sounds like an EWOK village straight out of Star Wars. What about using that imagery as an inspiration and then color it with fairy theme trappings? I'm so inspired by your garden. I wish I knew how to do gardening in my area. I didn't grow up here in Central Texas so I am not familiar with how to grow here. I'm a little nervous about killing all my plants and spiritually (and mentally) that would just be such a kick in the gut.

I’m a published miniature artist who specialized in fantasy or fan art inspired miniatures. I did a lot of fairy stuff as part of that fantasy genre. I had an online shop for years that was sold out as soon as the things went live for sale. You can use hot glue if you use it inside first. Do your crafting indoors to build it and then take it out. Anything that weathers poorly can be taken down and replaced as needed. Gorilla glue makes an all temperature hot glue stick made to withstand outdoor conditions. It can take the heat and cold. Forage your crafting materials, and purchase some craft store moss to use at glue joints. Interesting sticks can be made into fairy furniture. Look for fairy prints of fabric for curtains (glued on sticks) or fabric for other stick furnishings. Make sure to buy a hot glue gun that has a high and low setting as the hot setting will burn your skin if you aren’t careful. Thick enough fallen bark off trees can be turned into chair backs, shelves, the back of a mini sofa, etc. It can be pieced together into a fairy door. I’m sure RU-vid has some miniature fairy house tutorials. I used my imagination to put things together, but nowadays there are RU-vid tutorials. Polymer clay can make anything that you need and it’s fun to work with. Need a bunch of mini candles? Roll a long tube of clay and cut out whatever lengths you need. Push an indentation into the top with a toothpick and use the cut off tip of the toothpick as your wick. Walmart has outdoor craft paints. Get a fine brush for painting little things and keep it cleaned out for further use. Make yourself some clay mushroom tables. Have fun painting them out with cute red caps and white dots on top. With a wide enough flanged out base they won’t fall over. I loved putting little fairy tea times on top of mine. I made cups out of glued together beads with a clay handle, painted them out, put a dollop of glue inside and then when dry paint it out to look like whatever liquid drink you want. When making minis for outdoor use, dishwasher safe mod podge is your new best friend. It will also protect labels on bottles-both to glue them on and then seal the tops. Online has printable labels for everything you can imagine. As for attaching to trees, push pins won’t go past the tree bark layer and should not hurt the tree. If you can find flat spots that are smooth enough, you could try command sticky strips for hooks or whatever. Maybe a fairy door could be hung just using those sticky strips on the back like the picture hanging kind. Obviously anything that falls off the miniatures should be picked up and discarded properly. If you aren’t feeling up to crafting anything, you can purchase ready made garden fairy miniatures anywhere online. They do add up quickly though. They can get more expensive covering that much of an area.

Well now that I see what you have to work with, that stump would make a wonderful altar. I know it looks all rotted, and it is pretty far gone, but there is still good material to work with. So yeah the first thing you'll want to do is get a hatchet and clear off the bark on the top. Then if any parts are soft clear them out too. The round part would be ideal to hole a small cauldron or offering dish. The hole in the side would make a great shelf for storage or offerings you don't want onlookers to see. You'll want to clear out all that dirt with a spade and chisel the softest parts out with a long flat skrew driver and a mallet. As long as you get the super soft parts it'll be fine. The surface should be cleared to your liking just make sure to remove dust, bugs, and spongy wood as that will draw more bugs. Once you have all the rot gone you can do it the normies way, gilling holes to level it with filler and covering the surface with an epoxy. Or you could do it the super witchy way setting stones in places to fill most the gap then burning home made extra drippy candles on it nightly to create a sealed surface wiping it with a cloth to get access off. This is an important step though water will make the wood rot faster. Also, glue will not harm bark as long as it's not penetrating the bark completely. Just make sure you're not preventing sun from getting to part of the tree. If there are no starting branches it's not blocking it. Definitely don't put holes in your trees. However, clay in the gaps in bark can have a skrew placed in it 😊 let that dry and boom hang anything from it. This allows the tree to reject it btw 😁 as for the gnome village... Read my reply to this comment, it's sensitive info.

I would use Natural Hemp string. You could probably create relatively simple. (At least in my head) like a hanging rope bridge from on tree to another. And u could use pretty lightweight material u should not have to put any nails in the tree. Just tie it around or even a thumbtack just for the rope wouldn't hurt it. I just don't think hot glue would stick bc the bark.. I think your space is awesome though. N in a few years . You'll be so amazed at how shady and full everything grows so fast. And for all the stuff u have growing . I know how much work u put in just making the beds . U guys are doing great. U are always so hard on yourself. U should be proud. Plus all that school work. . You're very lucky to have such a nice garden! I also love the fairy garden idea for your trees. 😊 But, please, don't use hot glue. For one, it's gonna melt again in the heat and probably get brittle in the winter's cold, and whatever you want to glue/attach won't hold up very long, which would be sad. Most of all, though, hot glue is essentially just plastic, and thus terrible for the environment and nature. Please don't ever use it outside, where you might not be able to find all the blobs and pieces of it again, once it's fallen apart, and you can't recycle it properly. The fae probably wouldn't appreciate that. 😉 I would use something natural and biodegradable like cotton or hemp rope/string to perhaps tie something onto the trees. You could create little "hanging bridges" from small wooden planks that are strung up with this kind of rope, too. If you want to create little "mushroom shelves" or attach some kind of "balconies" on the tree trunks, I don't think very thin and small nails would really harm a tree. At least, if it's not too many. Just think about what woodpeckers do, and the trees are still okay. It would, aat least, be better for nature than any kind of glue. You could also hang up little wind chimes or solar powered fairy lights which are strung along the bridges or rope ladders. That might look cute at night. Maybe plant squill beneath the trees, if they grow well in your area and climate. In spring squill (scilla) literally creates a blue carpet and looks so magical!

I never even thought about that. Definitely something to bear in mind. I wonder if you can buy tree sap to use. Ivy, I know you can buy live spores of various mushrooms which you could use to inoculate via paint brush onto specific parts of your tree stump and then you could have an intentional mushroom forest as well!

Thank you for this tour! I'm impressed you can grow eucalyptus by you! That's wonderful. I'll try that out because I adore eucalyptus. Also, is Miss Ma'am a Manx?

If you get chicken wire to put over your raised beds, it should help prevent squirrels from destroying your plants. Do you dry your Raspberry leaves for tea, or use them fresh? I loved this impromptu nature walk with you, hope that your finals are imbued with the wisdom and strength of nature.

Genius!! I am totally using chicken wire now. Thank you. I just use the leaves fresh and make tea the same day I pick them! 😊

Love your garden space and the idea of a fairy community! Just a few thoughts, straps can also harm tree bark if left unattended for extended periods of time, there are some things like using wide nylon straps, bark guards (can usually be found near hammock supplies) and moving the straps regularly to prevent damage. Maybe wood glue or use clay pressed into the bark? Alwyn Oak (another creator) also created a fairy space, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-33CRUm8Oh3A.html. I like the idea she had for a reflecting pool Good luck! And look forward to your grove continuing to grow! Have you though about a food forest in that corner? It may add to the Fairy community and your harvest

Have you ever fermented the raspberry leaves for a day before making them. @blackforager had a short video about that a while back and it’s amazing.

Oh and for the tree bridge idea. It sounds fun. I’d just make sure the part that goes around the trees is adjustable so you can loosen it as the trees grow. Otherwise they can get deformed when things are tied to them.

Hey Ivy! Loooong time watcher, first comment. (Master gardener here) I'm really concerned about the placement of your eucalyptus. I know you called it a bush, but is that some kind of special variety? Those trees grow fast and tall, but lack root structure and that's awful close to your house... You don't strike me as the type to not do your homework, but I cannot ignore my concerns without speaking up somewhat. ❤️ Thanks for all you do!

Five trees, could they make up a pentagram and then you could have a circular magical space laid out with stones then pop your alter there? Carve out the face of the altar ap pop in a huge quartz crystal for magical amplification. Just a thought.

What a great idea! I wish my trees could make a pentagram but alas, they are more in a straight line so it wouldn't work. Thanks for the idea though! ❤️

Ivy, I've been enjoying your videos for a while (and have gotten lots of good ideas from you!) but the grammar crossing guard who lives in the back of my head wanted to tell you that "vile" is an adjective meaning things like "awful, extremely unpleasant, wicked," and such... while "vial" is a noun meaning "small container, usually made of glass." I'm pretty sure you have the latter hanging from your new tree friend, not the former!

Oh NOOOO!! I can't believe I let that typo go in there 😂 Yes, I promise I do know the difference between vial and vile. Haha!!

I like putting fairy doors at the base of trees - you can buy them or make them out of epoxy glue, then you either glue them to the bark or just stick them into the ground. They can be used as doorways to the Lower realms in shamanic travels, or you can enchant them as portals to different deities!
