So much to do! It's getting hard to keep up stuff around here this time of year, (including making youtube videos), but I'm trying. Here is what is going on in and around the greenhouse.

Hope you can heat it this year. You always seem to get such beautiful harvested vegetables.

I grew the micro Tom's too. Yuck. Wont grow them again either. I grew the orange hat tomatoes and we love those. Didnt have luck with my brocolli either. Going to try again for fall.

I thought I might have seen 2 more cucumbers at the top towards the plastic that you missed. I can't find an online store for rice seeds.. SHALOM

I got mine from that Seed USA seller on eBay. I think I put a link in my first rice growing video. I've since found others (since I'm trying to source more grain seeds for next year) but everyone is sold out for this year. However, I was able to to get more Balsamic rice seed from the Ebay person.

I’m having an amazing year for bell peppers, but the rest of my pepper varieties have struggled, I think because of the extreme heat and humidity that we started out with, and it just never gave us a break. I feel like if I have a good bell pepper year, the other peppers don’t do well, and when I have a year where my other pepper varieties do well, my bells barely produce. Which is odd, because they’re all peppers, but I’m going on a decade of seeing this exact trend, so hmmm..🤔 I‘ve also been questioning the number of pollinators I have. My cucumbers were so loaded with flowers, just hundreds, and then I lost most of them, which is crazy, because most years I’m getting more cucumbers then I can even give away. So I don’t know if it’s pollinators, the soil, the weather, or what, but I have to figure it out before next season. I really think I need to do a complete amendment to my garden soil next year, because my zucchini and cucumber production was low, but I planted crookneck and butternut squash in a different area, and they are producing like mad. I also found a good open pollinated cucumber variety that I’m planting next year. It’s called Corinto! The seeds are pretty expensive, but I’ll buy them once, then I’ll save the seeds next year, and I can cross off the pollination issue that way. Thanks for sharing! Your garden looks great!! 👍🌻🍀🌷👌

I did the same thing with purchasing cucumber seed that is self-pollinating for next year. I am continuing to pollinate my cucumbers in the greenhouse, just in-case. But it will be nice next year not to have to worry. I can't ever get peppers to mature out in the garden. Growing them in greenhouse has been the answer. I found tame jalapeño seeds for next year and I'm so excited to try/grow them. We like the flavor but are total wimps when it comes to hot peppers!

We have okra that will grow 8 feet tall or more! There are dwarf varieties if you want to grow them in the boxes.

8 FEET!?!?!? Oh dear. . . . I hope mine is the shorter variety. It is flowering, so hopefully that means it's done going up for the most part. This is what happens when a Yankee gets ahold of some southern seeds. . . . pure ignorance! ; )

Hi thanks for the updates. I’ve notice that there have been a lot of fireflies this year and yes dragon flies. I’ve live in my home since 1963 and I’ve never seen dragon flies around here. Now they are all over the place. Strange.

Exactly! We have wetlands at the back of our property, but this is the first year I've noticed them in such abundance. And at the barn where my daughter takes riding lessons, they are experiencing the same thing -- dragon flies everywhere. The last 2-3 years we've also had fire flies, which we hadn't seen before. I love seeing these bugs, but it just makes me wonder what is going on. And with the predatory dragon flies, there are no mosquitoes this year. I think I've had ONE mosquito bite thus far.

Michigansnowpony the thing is while I’m not that far from the Detroit River, I’m also not that close. There are no pond or pools in the area. In fact many don’t even have water. So I have no idea where they are living unless in the basement for an abandon house that is filled with rain and broken pipe water. Now that you mention it there haven’t been a lot of mosquitoes

Don't throw the basil away! See if a local asian store will buy it from you.

Too late -- it's compost. I don't know of any Asian markets in our area and I wouldn't have had time to deliver it anyway, so. . . I'm just rather shocked it wasn't the type of basil it was supposed to be in the seed pack -- I've never had that happen before.

@@Michigansnowpony sadly I have. Or I've bought an entire packet of seeds that was good for that year and nothing germinated whatsoever.
