Greenworks 80V 2AH Battery Teardown & Repair (Red Blinking Light Error!!!) Part 1
In this video, i'm going to teardown the 80V 2AH battery to show voltage of individual cell to demonstrate the charging issue on why the battery doesn't charge over 65% or so and will be showing steps on how to recover the battery so it can be use to it's full potential.

The Curious Brain: An Indian living in the USA who learned pretty much everything himself!!! Thanks to the RU-vid platform and people for helping me archive my confidence to be able to successfully perform my DIY projects. Life is Busy in America as we know, so we have to be self-independent. In my opinion, most of us struggle with things breaking down every day/week/month or so!! If you own a car and house, you know what I'm saying. I think is so unfair that innocent people have to spend hard-earned $$$ (After TAX), and priceless time, and deal with the crazy world out there to get things repaired. I believe this is my opportunity (as my busy schedule allows) to create good content where I should share back tips & tricks to help others achieve their confidence with their DIY projects!
My goal with this channel is to start with DIY-related videos in English to help people with their DIY projects and being an Indian, planning to make videos in Hindi to help people in India with Visa/GreenCard/Citizenship related issues while sharing my journey/experiences/hiccups including my USA experiences from an Indian point of view especially after living in USA for 12 years and maybe more as I move forward on this RU-vidr journey!
As far as my education, I hold 2 bachelor's and master's degrees in CyberSecurity including over 10 years experience in IT Industry. I guess I can teach a lot of stuff via RU-vid so why not start this Channel? Help me support this channel to keep me motivated including sharing your thoughts so I can invest more time to bring good valuable content to the table!
Again, thanks for all your support; rating the video and leaving a comment is always appreciated! :)

What about a steady red light. Then next day it charges although depleted it has two bars of light. That quickly charges to full. But when taken off charger and it goes back to 2 bars

Checkout this video, I had the same issue that you are talking about and I documented the repair in this video:- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0roc63psaEY.html

Where can I find the charger you used? I don't know where to get a charger where you can change the voltage and amperage. Thank you.

It's called dc power supply variable, lookup on Amazon and you'll find many.

These batteries should come with a balancing button or something, because with the use they get out of balance...Oviously, companies are not going to do that...

That's what BMS (battery management system) is for but it's not smart enough to only charge cells that are unbalanced. It basically stops charging when it detects unbalancing which I guess makes sense because there is no programming or processor that can calculate all that in these BMS. Now you know why expensive cars like Tesla are way advanced as it shows you individual cell voltage and you will know exactly what cells are bad etc.

How did you electrically disconnect each battery?
@Xx_TheCuriousBrain_xX
@Xx_TheCuriousBrain_xX 3 месяца назад
I didn't and you don't need to disconnect each cell in order to charge individuall. Simply connect positive to positive and negative to negative, you will be able to charge normal. Just pick positive negative correctly while making sure they belong to that individual cell only..use multi-meter to assure positive negative are correct before charging.

@@Xx_TheCuriousBrain_xX I think I understand it now the resistance the other way around the circuit through the other 19 batteries would be so high as to limit current.
@Xx_TheCuriousBrain_xX
@Xx_TheCuriousBrain_xX 3 месяца назад
Exactly, so charge them individually. I don't believe you need to charge all of them, just the one that's low...most of those should all match, just 1 or 2 that's below average volume that cause the damage in unless all cells are below 3v or so. Once every cell matches, then regular charger should pickup charging....also do subscribe if you haven't already, to help support...thnx!!!

Question: I've charged individual cells to with .01. Each cell now has 3.88-3.99v. Put on charger and still blinking red. Any ideas. When tested, 10 cells were close to 3.31v. Battery is one year old. Any ideas on how to proceed?

Sounds like you are doing pretty well. Test total voltage of entire battery pack to make sure it's 70v + otherwise it's possible you might have missed some of the cell.

It's a 60v, 8ah. Total voltage is 58.3. It should work. This is my first time, but can't imagine it not working. I'm about to charge it up directly with another 60v fully charged battery. That's how I started the project. Started with no charge bars showing. After repeated charges, had three bars. Even worked in the riding mower when it was the only battery installed. Makes no sense to me.

Yes it doesn't make sense. Okay, so if it shows 58v, then technically it is close to full charge. Do a load test to see if it output fine...maybe use it for a little bit and then try to charge to see if the charger pickup. I don't remember on this battery model but normally BMS also has buttons to reset itself, maybe Google it on how to reset BMS, that might help. At this point, sounds like your battery is charged enough, BMS is being an issue now that's preventing to charge the battery.
