Greenworks Dual Battery 60 volt max Mower Battery test 

BYD I bought that mower after your video and one video Greenworks did in North Carolina. No problem with it and very satisfied.

The battery was in storage for 3 years because we were living in an apartment. We were waiting on our house to be built. I put the battery on the charger it had 4 green lights already. It did not have to charge it after 3 years in storage. It was fully charged so I cut my nice size back yard and my smaller front yard. It did great!!! I was finished the yard within 25 minutes. The GREENWORKS BATTERY IS AWESOME!! No gas, no oil, no MESS! I love it!🩷💙💜💚🩵❤️🧡

I just picked up the dual blade 25" deck 60v mower and I'm loving it. No more dealing with gas, air filters, spark plugs, oil, winterization, etc. I suggest buy a used mower then pickup the batteries off eBay and you'll save a couple of hundred as I did or $599 new with 2 4amp batteries.

That battery is a car payment. Nice job on showing the pros and cons BYD!

The battery systems are not for everyone. I have the Ryobi 40V 20" mower, trimmer / edger, and blower since 2015. I'm retired and downsized to a small yard. Works great for me + no gasoline smell or gasoline storage problems. I don't have a shop or storage building anymore. I've told others who have big yards and more storage to stay gasoline and not use battery systems.

It only cost .32 to 38 cent per charge. No Maintenance, no filters, no fuel, no spark plugs, no fumes, smelling like gas, etc. You will pay more for gas mower before you leave the store when you pay for supplies to use with it. No brainers the battery powered mower

Thanks for the video. A lot of companies use all types of distraction techniques to keep you from finding out about their products weaknesses. I bought a 60 V Greenworks self propelled lawnmower and I have a wooded area which I had cleared out. It is about 1000 square feet and I almost got it all done. I have the rest of my yard cut by a lawn service. Some of the cleared wooded area is kind of hilly because the land had a lot of trees removed from it. I noticed that when I ran the lawnmower over the hilly parts, I noticed a change in the rpm's excelerating higher. I still have 15 days left before I can take it back and get my money back. I am having second thoughts about keeping it because I think the battery runs out a little to fast for me. I give it a 5 out of 10 and maybe they did not put enough R/D into it before they put it out on the market to sell to homeowners. I am seeing a lot of these videos and it does not look good for the battery operated lawn mowers. Maybe they will improve, but I don't have time to wait until they do.

I have the same combo kit and am looking at going full electric by adding the mower. Thanks for using the 4amp battery because that is how I would use it.

Great review! I can't agree more with your review. I called Greenworks to see why the battery on the mower is down to half after about 10 minutes. I think to get that full 60ish minutes of cut time, you need to be barely cutting on a level surface without using the drive. I'm going to invest in a second battery, just to be sure I make it through my entire lawn on one charge. I also purchased the weed wacker. Its easy to use and lightweight. No complaints.

Great review, just got one son bought it for me, mines not self propelled, but it’s so much lighter than my gas mower it was no problem, my yard is all hill, I was very happy with the smoothness of the cut and it never bogged down once, might get another battery to make sure I’ve got enough juice, tonight I walked it pretty quick, I mow my wife’s mom’s and dad’s old home place and it’s no problem to get it in the back of my truck.

I don't think it will cut that long if the grass was longer. You barely had any grass to cut. Do another video when your grass is fully out of dormancy.

I bought the same mower with the 4-amp battery 5-amp was out of stock at greenworks. But from your video I should be able to mow my small lawn with no problem. I am sick of constantly having to work on my rider. And the batteries are overpriced. I own alot of dewalt tools would have bought their mower but i want my side discharge on the side of the mower not the back. great video

I only have the 5 amp right now. And my grass was at least 3-4 inches high and I got about 45 mins out of the 5 amp. I covered about 7k square feet. I'm charging now. I know now that I need another 5 amp battery after watching your video. Thank you!

I bought the 25" deck greenworks mower that came with 2 batteries. One of them was the 4 amp, and the other one is a 2 amp battery. I also bought the combo pack to get the extra battery. I love my mower. I wish it had the LED lights, but I love the dual blades on my mower as well.

Hey Nice video. It’s a year later how is everything working out. My shop had Greenworks. We sold mostly the commercial line but had several residential models available. We also had all the other equipment like blower , weed wacker , chainsaw and others. The products sold very well. Loews don’t sell these anymore. People will get frustrated when it comes to charging. This company is located in North Carolina and has a commercial line of products for landscaping Businesses. I went into a equipment shop yesterday. There was about 6 other customers looking to purchase one of these in commercial model. They didn’t have enough to go round. It’s a very good product but really should keep to two models consumer pro and Commercial.

I have this mower with the battery included and found that if you cut without using the rear drive feature the mower will get you through cutting an entire yard about 3200 square feet with a hill. I've cut my yard once using the self propelled feature when I first purchased it without the battery going dead. It may depend on individual usage. overall, I like the mower but the way to go is to purchase the blower and trimmer and save money and get an extra battery. Good review!

Cutting performance is on par if not better than gas right now. The impediment right now is run time. That will improve as the technology evolves. We're still in the preliminary stage of "E-quipment".

Nice Mower, been using alot of DEWALT Products, seem to be similar. The Hedge Trimmer, Blower, Weedeater, are great, lightweight, Battery last, but with Battery Mowers not enough Battery Power for my Size Lawn good luck. Good Vid

Thanks for the detailed information and great review. Just as a point of clarification, these are not 5-amp and 4-amp batteries; they are rated 5 amp-hour and 4 amp-hour. I'm sure you realize that, unfortunately, it is not practical for manufacturers to provide any meaningful estimate on runtime or area coverage on a battery charge, simply due to the tremendous number of variables, to list just a few: thickness/height/type of grass, height setting, lights on/off, turbo on/off, terrain, temperature, overlap, number of obstacles, self-propel feature on/off, bagger/mulch/side discharge, battery age/condition, lawn moisture. When I purchased my first battery-powered mower, I paid strict attention to the cost of its replacement battery, with the assumption/hope that the mower will outlive the battery. The cost of a 5-ah new battery seems to range from $100-$350 or more. At the point of having to replace the battery, I don't intend to spend more for the battery than the price of a new mower.

Have the same one now for over a year now. I can front the front and back and weed eat on 1 battery. I would highly recommend The Pro models.

You’re right. The price of batteries has convinced me to not switch to a battery powered mower

I have the Greenworks 19" non self propelled push mower with 60v 5ah battery. The runtime varies a lot. Worst I got was 15min and the best was 30 minutes. Mulching definitely takes more battery power than side discharge.

Mine came with two 4amp batteries. I also got the combo kit with an additional 4.amp. Then I got something else with another 4amp. So I’m good!

The initial buy in for going electric is high but the savings come in when you start buying other tools from the same company. Then you can buy bare tools since you already have the batteries and the total cost of everything becomes a good deal for the average consumer. A couple of high capacity batteries and one charger could be enough to power all of your equipment to mow, trim and edge your lawn without a need to recharge.

They can’t tell you how long it’s run time is because it’s used on many different grass types as well as different heights, and lawn densities

Lowes was clearing these 60 volt mowers out last year to make way for the Ego brand. Since they had them on clearance for $250 I bought two mowers and each one came with the 5 AH battery. So now I have a back up mower in case the other breaks down and 2 5AH batteries to run off of. It lasts about 1hr and 30 mins and less if I use self propelled.

AMAZON has the 80v Greenworks Battery Lawnmower on sale for $427 right now.

I'm wondering if the Greenworks 80v would be better for runtime. I saw one video comparing the older 80v model without an Ego 56 v model and the guy said the Greenworks did a rough part of his yard without any hiccup but Ego cut off. Now Greenworks has an 80v model that looks like the one you have so it would be interesting to compare especially to see if the newer 80v has been altered to underperform its predecessor or if it's similar to the previous model. The Greenworks 60v is probably comparable to the Ego 56 v if I had to guess.

I think for smaller lawn they're great. Anything under 3k sqft.

3 yrs in...how are your batteries holding up BYD? I just jump in and bought the 60V 21 inch, 16" trimmer, and 700CFM blower.

On 1 battery installed in the mower on full charge ours runs about 30 to 40 min. If you dont use self propelled function about 1 hr.

I mowed trimmed and blew 5 properties today on 4 ego batteries..

My neighbors have gas mowers. I see the issues they have in the morning, pulling and pulling. No way. Batteries for me. I buy stronger Batteries and can cut almost 2 hours with a 4 &7 amp

I'm curious why Greenworks provides different amp batteries on these. I just bought the 80V self-propelled version from Costco and it comes with a 4 amp and 2.5amp battery. There is a huge difference in speed once it has drained the 4 amp and cuts over the 2.5 amp. It just seems weird to equip them this way. Anyway, thanks for the video. I only wanted to know which of the battery compartments is used first. Now I know to put the 4 amp into the left slot. Maybe should have been obvious, but it wasn't.

I have to agree that many consumers may be frustrated by the lack of run times posted on the retail package. However, here are 10 reasons why an ethical company might avoid run time claims: 1. Unfortunately, run-time claims inevitabley become a contest of who dares tell the biggest lies to sell more product; honest companies will lose sales to the enevitable liers 2. The variety of grass significantly influences the amount of torque required at any given height and speed (my dense, St. Augustine grass is like cutting nails compared to fine-bladed bluegrass). 3. Succulent, healthy, dense grass requires more power than wilted, stressed, and/or thin; even spring versus hot summer on the same lawn will vary significantly 4. Wet grass requires substantially more cutting power than dry 5. Clipping off a mere inch or two of grass conserves power compared to cutting a tall stand; part of the energy consumed is re-cutting sheared blades several times before they leave the deck. When cutting, taller grass = more mass. 6. Blade height; it's harder to cut tough, sinewy grass stems near the ground than the thinner, more delicate blades higher up. 7. Hilly terrain may consume more power. 8. The self propelled speed chosen may or may not represent the best possible mowing efficiency, thereby influencing run time. 9. Battery temperature significantly influences output performance 10. A good mulching blade will provide better cut quality and fewer visible remnants, but use more battery power Bottom line, there are simply too many variables to pin down a specific, expected run time. My experience suggests a range of perhaps 400% between best and worse case scenarios. When I see a claim of "up to 60 minutes," I mentally assign that to the former and figure pehaps 15 minutes for the latter. It is my opinion that publishing such a range would best serve the consumer.

I'm looking at getting a new lawn mower. I have about 10 to 12K square foot lawn with thick Kentucky blue grass. I usually mow 2 a week in the summer. I wondering if the thickness will cut down on run time.

Can you turn the headlights off. The batteries should last longer of you can.

Lithium batteries are good for about 500 chargers before they start to degrade, it would be interesting to see the same test in a couple of years.

Lowes just dropped the price today to $399 for the mower, and $199 for the battery , leaf blower ,and weed eater combo...you might wanna go get your price match money

Greenworks have no idea of the condition of a customer lawn, this why that information isnt on the box. They can be sued by adding that information... In my Book Greenworks did the right thing.

I used this same self propelled lawn mower yesterday for the first time, before using I put the 54V 5.0Ah battery on the charger for two hours it showed full charge at the end of that time. I did the front yard grass maybe 2" high average the battery lasted 36 minuets the front yard was 3 fully charged batteries averaged 5,264 sq ft per each charge not very much yard for one charge using self propelled 90% of the time and some hilly work on about 3,600 sq ft. Total square feet for three full charged batteries (6 HOURS) charge time a little over 1.5 hours use time, this is ridicules the lawn more itself is fairly well engineered the battery to use time ratio is horrible, I would never bought this lawn more with this current knowledge, 1/3 ACRE = 3 CHARGES = 1.5 HOURS USE TIME, or maybe their computations were based on using two batteries, $400.00 is a lot of money for poorly engineered slow charge batteries in my opinion.

Considering you weren’t actually cutting anything (as it’s dormant and the blade wouldn’t be touching the tips) I’m not surprised at the run time off 2 batteries. If you were actually cutting grass it would drop dramatically. That and the Ego could do the same off 1 7.5Ah battery. Not a great video to show actual runtimes in “normal cutting conditions”
